dh refusing to give me admin access to router in my house

DH is refusing to give me admin access to the router in our house because he doesn't think i'm responsible enough. We've both had long careers in tech! I'm currently studying for a security certification.
I'm in shock he thinks he can justify withholding access to a service I pay for at least as much as he does.
He is being unreasonable, right?

Just unplug it! What a controlling fool he is.

Theunamedcat · 18/09/2024 17:33

Can you not guess the password?

SonicTheHodgeheg · 18/09/2024 17:35

What?!
He’s being outrageous.
I’ve just given my 18yo the login and password to ours because he wants to see if he can improve his PlayStation performance and that’s bormal
imo.
I wouldn’t have given my kids the settings when they were younger because I had restrictions like times they could use the wifi but you’re a grown adult who should have the login and password. Have you tried the manufacturer’s standard password and login ?

Arlanymor · 18/09/2024 17:35

What does he mean by ‘responsible enough’? That’s bizarre.

wastingtimeonhere · 18/09/2024 17:35

Is the contract in his name? If not, cancel. In his name, get another router..and exclude him...

BippityBopper · 18/09/2024 17:36

Of course he's BU. What a controlling dick!

RiddyRiddyRiddy · 18/09/2024 17:36

Buy your own and don't give him access! Really though it's probably time to LTB!

oObyeOo · 18/09/2024 17:36

What a nob!

LoobyDoop2 · 18/09/2024 17:37

I hope you aren’t paying for any of it. Agree with getting your own.

PinkyFlamingo · 18/09/2024 17:38

Why does he say you are "not responsible", what's he up to?

Procrastinates · 18/09/2024 17:39

The fact you have to ask is really quite worrying!

He sounds incredibly controlling and belittling and I doubt this is the only example of such behaviour.

ShouldIGoHigher · 18/09/2024 17:39

Id wanna know what was on that router..

EBearhug · 18/09/2024 17:41

Reset to factory settings.

FOJN · 18/09/2024 17:42

WTAF

I doubt this is the only thing he's controlling about.

I'd unplug it and take it with you the next time you leave him at home alone but then I don't believe in wasting energy trying to reason with unreasonable people so I'd have some fun.

MillshakePickle · 18/09/2024 17:43

My question is, what's he hiding?

Makes absolutely sense.

BridgetJonesBigPants · 18/09/2024 17:43

Time to start locking him out of stuff. I'd be changing the passwords on everything I could think of.

MinervaMcGonagallsCat · 18/09/2024 17:43

What an arse.

Jc2001 · 18/09/2024 17:43

ShouldIGoHigher · 18/09/2024 17:39

Id wanna know what was on that router..

It's a router there won't be anything on it apart from connected devices, security settings etc. you won't find internet search history or anything like that.

It is bizarre though.

stonedaisy · 18/09/2024 17:45

I wonder why he would do that.. is there something he doesn't want you to see perhaps?
Either way it's a no from me

Normallynumb · 18/09/2024 17:45

How bizarre
Contact your provider and ask/ buy another one.
Him saying you're not responsible is obviously a lie

Ponderingwindow · 18/09/2024 17:47

Theunamedcat · 18/09/2024 17:33

Can you not guess the password?

No one who locks things down tight like this has passwords that can be guessed.

RedToothBrush · 18/09/2024 17:48

Hide the cable then blackmail him.

Make him grovel.

When he capitulates demand compensation for his sexism.

DutchTeenyPixie · 18/09/2024 17:54

Are there devices connected to the router he doesn’t want you to know about maybe?

Spenditlikebeckham · 18/09/2024 17:56

Had over every household management chore to him from now on.

Catza · 18/09/2024 17:57

How much responsibility does one need to have in order to look at a string of random numbers on a router admin page. What does he think you are going to do? Hack into Pentagon?
Utterly bizarre!
I'm afraid I'd go all petty and exclude him from anything else that's shared. Sorry, love, I am going to have to confiscate your house keys. You are just not responsible enough to have unsupervised access.
Or, indeed, go the other way. Sorry love, I didn't think I was responsible enough to use a hoover/cooker/go to the shop by myself.
