I’m planning a trip and I’m curious about people’s experiences with hotels. What’s the best hotel you’ve ever stayed out and what made it stand out? Whether it’s the service, location, amenities, or something else, I’d love to hear your top recommendations!

The Adlon in Berlin for old world charm and impeccable customer service. A bit like the German Ritz

Hotel C2 in Marseille.

Absolutely gorgeous. I can't fault anything. The room was so big I kept taking myself round on a tour of it. The view from the balcony was spectacular. The actual building is so beautiful, I could not stop taking photos of it. The underground spa - wow. Beautiful. Magical. Also, they made delicious cocktails.

I've stayed in a few Oberois in India and they are my favourite hotel brand. Amazing service - once at dinner mentioned how much we liked one dish. Hand written recipe for it under our door the next day. Different Oberoi, at bar, mentioned we were going to Delhi next, barman went and found a member of staff from Delhi to give us tips.

Took my in-laws for their golden wedding anniversary and each oberoi we stayed at decorated their room. One arranged a free photo shoot and printed photos as a gift..

There was a Channel 4 programme on them recently- Grand Indian Hotel.

Mkhaya Stone Camp in Eswatini. Saw so many rhinos up close and the setting was great. More affordable than the big parks further north and Eswatini is a fabulous place to visit.

The Lenox in Boston. SUCH a vibe ~ made everything personal and homely. Service was insaneeee and I will happily cough up the £££ to go back.

pepperaunt · 11/09/2024 18:03

@FirstTimeHomeowner we’re going to a wedding there next summer. Sounds like we stay there as well!

The Oberoi Vanyavilas. The rooms are superb; luxury tents. The food is amazing but it’s the service and employees which made it stand out for us the perfect balance of fun, genuinely helpful and friendly. It was an unforgettable experience.

The Willard in Washington, I was a child but the history of the hotel, the location and the food was the highlight of our tour around the U.S.

Cestfoutu · 11/09/2024 18:27

Borneo Eagle Resort. OUT OF THIS WORLD! Service, food, private villa etc ; all amazing. Think our agent got some sort of special deal due to it having just opened as it must have really been £500-1000 a night. Made me understand how celebrities become nightmares because they just ran around trying to please you. Lined up on the jetty to greet you and wave farewell! ♥️

Chateau Marmont, L.A. Like staying in a piece of history, and the staff were fabulous to everyone.

Georgyporky · 11/09/2024 18:31

Hacienda Inkaterra Urubamba in Peru.

5* pure luxury, couldn't fault anything.

CoffySalon · 11/09/2024 18:32

Oh my, these recommendations are wonderful!

I love a good hotel - it really makes a difference to my travels. I always appreciate hearing about great places to stay. I’ve just returned from a holiday where the hotel didn’t quite meet expectations - service issues, towel changes, cleanliness etc. so I really wished I had stayed somewhere else.

These suggestions sound divine, I’m going to look up each one and make a list! Thank you all for sharing!
