I’m planning a trip and I’m curious about people’s experiences with hotels. What’s the best hotel you’ve ever stayed out and what made it stand out? Whether it’s the service, location, amenities, or something else, I’d love to hear your top recommendations!

Ahh yes I do know what you mean - it does let it down a bit.

The Atrium in Krakow. Absolutely bent over backwards with everything and the breakfast was amazing, a selection of meats, cheeses, breads, cereals, fruits, drinks. It would be quicker to list what wasn't provided! 5 minute walk and you were in the main square!

The Bellagio in Vegas. We’ve stayed 3 times and loved everything about it - food, entertainment, fountains, rooms and the 7 swimming pools! It just has the most incredible ‘life’ about the place which made me feel as if I was at the centre of everything.

St James Hotel in Paris

Chateau St Martin in Vance, rooms were huge, service second to none and the views across Antibes are spectacular.

St Regis on the Cornice in Abu Dhabi, you get your own Butler, the beach is stunning and nothing is too much trouble. The bedding luxurious and the bathroom is a grand size. We go every January.

Portmeirion. Magical, even more interesting to explore when day trippers have gone.

The Emory in London or Atlantis Dubai. Both amazing attention to detail.

The Montreux Palace in Montreux. Was a competition win to the Montreux festival. We were in an amazing suite overlooking the lake with a massive balcony and his and her sinks in the bathroom. An amazing hotel! The breakfasts were amazing too!

One in a Harrogate many years ago for a medical conference relating the condition that DS1 has. It was ridiculously lavish and all I could think of was the cost of it.. and how this money could have gone into further research into the condition! We didn't even have to pay for ourselves... I don't know about the other delegates

I've stayed in a few Oberois in India and they are my favourite hotel brand. Amazing service - once at dinner mentioned how much we liked one dish. Hand written recipe for it under our door the next day. Different Oberoi, at bar, mentioned we were going to Delhi next, barman went and found a member of staff from Delhi to give us tips.

Took my in-laws for their golden wedding anniversary and each oberoi we stayed at decorated their room. One arranged a free photo shoot and printed photos as a gift..

There was a Channel 4 programme on them recently- Grand Indian Hotel.

I second Oberoi Hotels. Service and food is second to none. I commented on the scent of some josticks they’d been burning and they gave me a beautifully wrapped package of them when I left. Heaven.

The Lenox in Boston. SUCH a vibe ~ made everything personal and homely. Service was insaneeee and I will happily cough up the £££ to go back.

I stayed there in 2011, loved it! Funnily enough I was trying to remember the name of it yesterday and here you appear!

The Ritz Carlton in Dubai, the Ritz and the Raffles in Singapore, the Shangri La in Sydney and London and the Ikos Andalusia. Due to the exceptional service, the quality of the rooms, the facilities, the food.

Viroth’s in Siem Reap, ambiance, atmosphere, food, style, vintage cars the whole thing was wonderful.

Second this, we were picked up from the airport in a vintage rolls Royce, we’ve stayed in grander and more expensive hotels but Viroth’s staff seemed to guess what we needed before we asked!

I'm glad someone mentioned El Remanso in Costa Rica, that's a beautiful property. Belmond properties are fabulous, such amazing service - I like it when people learn and remember your name. The top ones would be Das Cataratas at Iguacu and Palacio Nazarenas in Cusco. A lot of my favourites are made special for their location and the journey to reach them - tambopata research centre, Corcovado wilderness lodge, tranquilo bay, inkaterra Machu Picchu pueblo, Patagonia camp...

The Peninsula, Tokyo, personally. Also inspected some absolute blinding beauties around Japan - one of the most amazing was an 800 year old inn in Kyoto, think beautiful pine, rooms with carved murals, inlaid pearl boxes, food courses that were just stunningly amazing! Another cool one was a private mountain estate with individual log cabins that came with their own private butlers and grounds, with food freshly made from the ingredients grown on the estate's land and from their chickens etc. Ahhh, Japan has some truly stunning places.
