I’m planning a trip and I’m curious about people’s experiences with hotels. What’s the best hotel you’ve ever stayed out and what made it stand out? Whether it’s the service, location, amenities, or something else, I’d love to hear your top recommendations!

Castara Retreat in Tobago. Amazingly beautiful place and such a warm welcome. Not the most luxurious but it's kind of like a home from home.

@pepperaunt absolutely stay if you can!! I was there for work and from the sounds of my colleagues staying elsewhere locally I definitely hit the jackpot. Apparently it's where our execs are all put up when coming in!

Things that did it for me :

Great atmosphere ~ all staff wear local sports vests over their uniforms and are incredibly friendly. Nothing is too much trouble.

Amazing personal welcome and touches to the room, including chocolates from the Lindt store based under the hotel 😋

Service was insane. I left a very wrinkled blazer on the ironing board whilst I grabbed lunch (I was half done with it and had given up temporarily 😂) ~ housekeeping came whilst I was gone and I came back to it perfectly pressed! No idea how it got done so quickly! They also sourced a souvenir I wanted from another hotel (not part of their chain either) and called to check it was there, before tracking me down to let me know. Also insisted on sending a colleague in the hotel car when having an issue getting an Uber to the airport, despite only 'supposed' to be doing short journeys.

The food and bar is also incredible 😃

Rawla Narlai, north of Udaipur (India).

And an unnamed farm stay in the countryside outside Kyoto. The owners went above and beyond. They prepared a delicious dinner feast (including foods which we could cook over the traditional indoor fire-pit). And heated up the outdoor wood-fired hot-tub to relax in after the delicious meal. Slept like a baby.

My favourite hotel in the world is Disney’s Vero Beach or The Grand Floridian.
I just think they are gorgeous hotels with beautiful grounds.

Viroth’s in Siem Reap, ambiance, atmosphere, food, style, vintage cars the whole thing was wonderful.

If you ever stay at the C2 in Marseille, I should mention the breakfast there.

I ordered it up to the room and it came on a gigantic tray. It was like in Pretty Woman when he orders one of everything because he doesn't know what she likes. It could have fed a family. It was genuinely the best breakfast I've ever had in my life.

Partyrings123 · 11/09/2024 19:41

The Shangri La at the Shard in London, absolutely stunning

A tiny hotel in Santorini called Artemis. Stunning views across the Caldera, excellent service, breakfast served on the balcony every morning.

Also loved Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. The room was stunning, and the infinity pool is out of this world. Service wasn’t amazing though.

Plaza, New York, USA.

Right close to Central Park, and close to lots of amenities... Broadway, Grand Central Station, Madame Tussauds, The Diamond District, Carnegie Hall, all the Museums, Empire State Building, Times Square, Lovely, luxurious rooms, and excellent service. Exquisite hotel! 😍

We love Fonab Castle in Pitlochry and keep going back for the views, the spa, the friendly staff and the food. Can't fault it
And it's only 2 hours from home!

Nothing as exotic as others suggestions. The Chester Grosvenor as it was then. As a chronic insomniac I had one of the best nights sleep in my life there.

Quinto Jardins do Lago, Madeira
An old colonial house with wonderful gardens and the most amazing cocktail bar with a pianist and beautiful tiled floor.
Absolutely superb, wonderful breakfast in the tropical garden, shame we couldn't afford the a la carte dinners. The best pool I've ever encountered with an island of tropical plants 😃 with first class waiter lunch service! On the top of a very steep hill but a free on the house bus to the beautiful town of Funchal

catgirl1976 · 11/09/2024 20:10
