Family holiday drama

So we are due to go on holiday next year with family. We invited my parents, they booked their own room - they then invited my nephew (who is 17). My brother didn't pay for my nephew or even offer to pay for their place.

I found out I was pregnant recently and can't book the baby's space until they are born. Also there will be no spaces as, the baby is due 4 months before the holiday. Anyone we trust with our child will be on that holiday. We need to take my nephew off the booking and change it to the baby when they are born.

AIBU to take my nephew off the booking (I have spoken to my parents about this and they understand) but I know my brother won't be happy and it will cause drama. Or should just not go and lose thousands 😣

Need an outside perspective pleaseeee

Why does a 4 month old baby need the space of an adult nephew? Won’t the baby be on your lap/in your room?

LoudSnoringDog · 21/08/2024 21:38

Why does he need to come off the booking?

MultiplaLight · 21/08/2024 21:40

Why can't he come? The baby will be in your room surely?

Portfun24 · 21/08/2024 21:41

Babies sit on your knee on the plane and don't need a "space" in a room. They aren't counted or charged for they just add a cot to your room.

familydrama1 · 21/08/2024 21:41

Because there will be no spaces but the time the baby is born (cruising and it will be at full capacity)

Is he taking a free child place?

MultiplaLight · 21/08/2024 21:42

À baby on a cruise sounds awful. I'd cancel you all and go somewhere on land.

TurksAndCaicos · 21/08/2024 21:43

Personally I think it would be outrageous to remove your nephew from the booking. You just can’t do that I don’t think.

FantasticFox27 · 21/08/2024 21:43

Can you add someone else to the booking now (another niece or nephew for example) just to use their name, then change that child's name over when the baby is born?

6pence · 21/08/2024 21:43

Whose room is he sharing?

LoudSnoringDog · 21/08/2024 21:43

I'm don't understand the composition of the group. Who is going to be in each room

dafa · 21/08/2024 21:44

If cruising it’s done on ages, so you won’t necessarily be able to swap a 17 year old for a baby. Cruises only take so many of each age group, also check the cruise line re age of baby as most lines are 6 months, or 12 if consecutive sea days.

familydrama1 · 21/08/2024 21:45

All rooms are full, this is the only way - we can't just book another room and then change it to the baby because they need an adult in there and we don't have anyone else

Can you travel with a 4m old? I though they had to be 6m

BlueMum16 · 21/08/2024 21:46

You need to change the holiday.

familydrama1 · 21/08/2024 21:46

Sorry the baby will be 6 months at the time of the holiday.

Sprinkles211 · 21/08/2024 21:46

The baby will be In a crib in your room, taking your nephew off a holiday is cruel as fuck.

DillyDilly · 21/08/2024 21:47

Was your nephew going to sleep in your room/cabin ? Surely not!

Madamecholetsbonnet · 21/08/2024 21:47

I’m very confused here…

MiddleagedBeachbum · 21/08/2024 21:47

This doesn’t make sense, your baby will be in your room and your nephew is either solo room or sharing with someone else?

familydrama1 · 21/08/2024 21:48

This is the only way otherwise we will lose thousands. My mum decided to invite my nephew after we invited them. We are going with my husbands family

OP posts:
Mitsky · 21/08/2024 21:49

I’m also confused, surely your 6month old won’t have their own cabin on a cruise ship?

pinkducky · 21/08/2024 21:49

I'm confused, is your nephew sleeping in your room? If not, why would he need to be taken off the booking? The baby will be in your room with you!

heldinadream · 21/08/2024 21:49

Did you not immediately take out travel insurance after you booked?

mnahmnah · 21/08/2024 21:49

OP, this isn’t making sense and you are not answering the questions or responding to what people are pointing out.

the baby will just go in your room with you. Your nephew is unrelated.

is he sharing a cabin with grandparents?

who is in which room?
