Family wedding next year.. seen this dress online that I love....

Would I be unreasonable to think this is ok for a wedding guest? Or is it too bridesmaidy?

It's beautiful

Wahine24 · 19/08/2024 09:44

It's a strong choice for a wedding with that back detail, do you not like the bride? I wouldn't worry about it being too bridesmaid-y !

Edited

That's why I am asking if it's acceptable or not.

I think as long as it's not the same colour theme or style of the actual bridesmaid dresses then it'll be absolutely fine

KimberleyClark · 19/08/2024 09:46

Way too attention seeking.

LoneHydrangea · 19/08/2024 09:47

I think it’s way too much for a guest.

JaniceBattersby · 19/08/2024 09:47

It’s lovely and great for a wedding (probably a summer rather than a winter wedding though 🥶)

Front, fine, back, too much.

Wahine24 · 19/08/2024 09:49

@Shiningstarr nope its very "look at me" I was being vaguely polite before hoping you would read between the lines.

Powderblue1 · 19/08/2024 09:49

I think k it's lovely and it's fine because of the slightly shorter length

ThinWomansBrain · 19/08/2024 09:50

Maybe a shawl or loose wrap over it in the day, but show off its full glory in the evening?

operationmincepie · 19/08/2024 09:50

Oh, what a shame. Front, I thought was fine but bold. But when I saw the back, I just thought bridesmaid.

ComtesseDeSpair · 19/08/2024 09:51

I wasn’t aware that women’s upper backs and shoulders were considered so dangerously alluring as to be attention-seeking if shown. I think it’s a great dress, nice length, and unless the bridesmaids are also wearing hot pink can’t think how you’d be confused with one at all.

Dassiee · 19/08/2024 09:53

Can't believe the comments on here, it's obviously criminal on MN to show your back 🤣🤣

I dont get this either- I've seen all sorts of cleavage or leg showing dresses at weddings. I hardly think showing your back a bit is "attention seeking".

The only caveat I'd agree with is- what colour are the bridesmaid dresses?- if they're pink then no dont wear it, if they arent it's fine- it's a gorgeous dress and it's perfectly ok to look good at a wedding. You dont have to dress in sack cloth and ashes for the sake of the bride. People will be looking at her anyway, not staring at your back fgs!

Dotto · 19/08/2024 09:54

Unless the wedding is in a swimming pool or on a beach, I think this would look odd, even for bridesmaids. But then I'd have pervy uncle Derek to contend with so...

It’s the whole back and part of the midriff. Too much for a wedding.

Yes, might just do for a beach wedding.

Menstum · 19/08/2024 09:57

It's MN
You can't show skin or you're the wicked temptress 🤣
Especially when it comes to weddings

HateThese4Leggedbeasts · 19/08/2024 09:57

I think it's fine to wear. The only reason it might be a problem is if it's a similar colour to the bridesmaids as the colour is so distinctive. I don't think it's too showy though. Maybe a shawl or jacket for the church (if there is a church service)

ButWhatAboutTheBees · 19/08/2024 09:58

OP - it's lovely, it's fine for a wedding and don't bother asking MN about outfits for weddings because most MNers are really weird about then
