I have changed my name for this, but there is so much negativity and hate towards JSO, Insulate Britain, and ER on these boards, that I really want to risk putting my head above the parapet and saying "WOOOHOO! I AM RIGHT BEHIND YOU!!"

These are wonderful people sacrificing their own liberty and careers to bring attention to their cause - and it really works! There have been huge benefits, so many companies are aware of them, and taking steps to avoid being in the firing line by upping their investments in environmental mitigations.

And the huge amount of attention that insulation got- it is now high up on so many agendas! Why did it take protesters gluing themselves to the road to do it? It should have happened anyway, but it didn't. People had to make that sacrifice, but themselves in danger, lose jobs, careers, liberty, etc, to get results.

People moan about having their days disrupted, etc by JSO, without caring how much their days are going to be disrupted by the climate crisis running out of control.

I have cancer. I couldn't get to a chemo appointment once because of JSO. I 100% support their actions. I think their cause is so much bigger than one person. They are acting to protect millions.

No doubt people will come here and bitch and moan and I don't care really, at least anyone from JSO who is on MN will see my thread title.

These are wonderful people

Don’t make me post links and stories to embarrass you @incognit . Do you know any of the protesters personally?

sacrificing their own liberty and careers

A fair few of them are retired or students…

Post me a link please that shows that a company’s CSR division changed its investments or environmental mitigations as a direct result of Just Stop Oil protesting . This is absolutely absurd

at least anyone from JSO who is on MN will see my thread title.

You know they’re on X (formerly Twitter) right? You don’t have to do a little dance on here to get their attention?

Airbrb · 27/07/2024 21:33

JSO make me want to turn on all my gas hobs and let them burn all day, turn my electric oven on all day and let my car engine idle all day outside my house. Whilst I go into the loft and chuck all the insulation into the wind.

You might not have been able to get to a chemo appointment, but that can be rearranged. What about people missing funerals or appointments where they were going to see if they had cancer? What about the person who had a stroke and was too late for the medication to reverse/limit the damage? Or people trying to get to GCSEs/ A Levels?

Some of them are in prison, where they belong. For breaking the law. Which other laws don't you mind being broken op?

Yes, I know some of them personally, no you can't embarrass me, yes many of them are retired, 70s, 80s, even 90s, - so what? They are not sacrificing careers, but are risking their safety and liberty. Students and working ones are risking their careers as well. I don't need to post you any links, because I have experienced it in person, sitting in meetings. They have a massive impact.

Well, people who are prepared to deliberately sabotage the planet are not the target audience. No one who would do that is someone it is worth anyone taking any time to reason with. And thankfully, this sort of behaviour is very rare.

I’m sorry but whilst I appreciate their cause, I dislike their actions. Stopping people from getting to vital appointments is not a way of showing off your cause.

miserable, maybe - regretting, no.

As I said, these are wonderful people, and they were prepared to risk it all.

and my foot you work in a prison, laughing at the idea of prisoners being miserable

Wonderful people? No. Cunts.

LaughingElderberry · 27/07/2024 21:37

I'm bemused by the cognitive dissonance required to laud a protester's achievements where they have blocked and delayed thousands of ordinary people from going about their lives. Then your Mum does a press statement complaining that you're going to miss your brother's wedding because you're doing time. Dare I ask how family, friends and well-wishers were planning to get to said wedding..?

RH1234 · 27/07/2024 21:37

My hero is the judge that put them in prison.

Crunchymum · 27/07/2024 21:38

Funny you needed to name change to post this?

RainbowZebraWarrior · 27/07/2024 21:38

"I have cancer. I couldn't get to a chemo appointment once because of JSO. I 100% support their actions. I think their cause is so much bigger than one person. They are acting to protect millions"

Then your priorities are all wrong. (If this is actually real)

FatmanandKnobbin · 27/07/2024 21:38

Jumped up little wankers with nothing better to do than piss people off then portray themselves as victims.

There are literally hundreds of things they could do that would actually be helpful, but they don't live in the real world, many know nothing about what they are protesting for, and they don't even do the things they are protesting about themselves.

I hate them.

OhHelloMiss · 27/07/2024 21:39

Regretting...yes! Under threat, hot stuffy cells, minging food, 23 hour bang up,

Safe to say they are regretting being idiots! Until you've seen people trying to survive in that environment you will continue to view it with rose tinted glasses

They are hated....despised....

SoupDragon · 27/07/2024 21:39

I really want to risk putting my head above the parapet and saying "WOOOHOO! I AM RIGHT BEHIND YOU!!"

well, clearly you don't want to put your head above the parapet and you're not behind them, you're a coward hiding behind a namechange

itainthalfhot · 27/07/2024 21:40

if you support them so much and hold them in such high regard.. why did you need to change your name?

stand loud and proud!!

but no... you change your name for fear of being recognised or just to stir up trouble?

OhHelloMiss · 27/07/2024 21:41

Can't embarrass you but you're too scared to post this under your real username? Sure.

They're fuckwits OP, and if you support them that's your prerogative, but it makes you a fuckwit too.

Maybe because of all the unnecessary nasty name calling and vitriol

Beezknees · 27/07/2024 21:42

Bunch of dickheads they are.

If you can afford to lose your job then you're living in a privileged bubble.

Tharshe · 27/07/2024 21:42

How are you putting your head above the parapet when you've changed your name to post this claptrap??

I can't believe this isn't a wind-up

This is so grumpy. You would’ve hated the suffragettes and anti slavery too more like.
