I'm a MILF apparently...

Just seen a WhatsApp chat (showed to me by DP) where I have been referred to by one of his friends as a MILF.... I'm fucking fuming. Trying not to overreact but the bloody cheek...
Personally I find this dismissive and insulting but didn't think I would be quite this angry. Happy to be told I'm overreacting but not sure I can let this slide!

I thought we had moved on from the 70s, but obviously not. I thought Andrew Tate was a bad influence on boys but unfortunately it would appear quite a few mums aren’t exactly helping either

I think some women simply don’t get it. Their brains cannot work out the layers of entrenched sexism. They see it as harmless banter. It’s a shame. As we can see, they are passing on their low expectations and misogyny to the next generation.

My young adult kids have zero tolerance for this stuff. I had hoped things were changing.

Growlybear83 · 11/07/2024 20:46

It absolutely wouldn't have bothered her, and I'm sure it wouldn't have bothered her friends either.

I honestly don't see anything wrong in someone making a harmless comment, wolf whistle etc to a woman. When I was growing up, the only females I knew who didn't like other women being wolf whistled were the ones who were ignored 😆😆

Are we peddling tropes of women of being jealous?

I am still catcalled even in my fifties. I find if disrespectful and demeaning. As a younger attractive woman I felt scared and had that horrid hot embarrassed feeling when it happened. I didn’t view it as a compliment remotely. And hated the attention.

I hope my daughter doesn’t experience it. But she will because of people like you raising Neanderthal sons.

Growlybear83 · 11/07/2024 21:16

@CrimpNStraighten sorry to disappoint you but I don't have a son, just a very happy and well rounded daughter, whose life wasn't blighted in the slightest by a few harmless remarks by men, Neanderthal or otherwise 😆😆😆

Thank goodness you won’t be raising a Tate acolyte at least. Maybe your daughter will end up with one. But I guess you would be cool with that.

Growlybear83 · 11/07/2024 21:30

My daughter is very happily married to a lovely man, thank you. ☺️

crumblingschools · 11/07/2024 21:46

@Growlybear83 do they have DC?

StarryIsabella · 11/07/2024 21:49

Well when I reach milf age I'll sure be happy to receive that compliment. 🤩🤣

My 20y son is sitting beside me. We have brought him up well. His dad is respectful. I asked him just now if he would ever catcall someone. He said, ‘no way. It is the worst thing foul men do. And it makes me so angry. I think it makes me even angrier because I have a sister’.

That is how we do it. Some of us are raising decent men.

Yeah ok…I wonder what he’s like with his mates and not sat on the sofa with mummy?

No, not yet. They haven't decided if they want children yet.

For real , I’m THAT mum and proud🔥 don’t let any of these prude negative nancys get to you. They are the reason gingerbread men are now called gingerbread people 🤣

Most reputable workplaces would not look kindly on an employee catcalling or calling someone a MILF

@Jennyathemall why are some women so keen for men to be misogynistic and treat women badly

Poopyfish27 · 11/07/2024 22:38

My daughters male mates used to call me a MILF to her. I thought it was hilarious and I didn't take offence at all. I was in my 50s at the time! Nice to know I still looked good.😅

10AngelO · 11/07/2024 23:14

And I’m sure you did🔥 this is the mindset we need

This is all I can think of reading it!

Sparrowball · 11/07/2024 23:27

This is a public service announcement:

Calling someone a milf does not mean you actually want to fuck them. It's a slang way of calling an older woman attractive and it sure beats hatchet-faced.

Teenagehorrorbag · 12/07/2024 00:17

Gross! Irrespective of the terminology, would your DH be happy to hear his mates say 'I'd give her one' about you, in front of him? What bloke would say that to his friend? And what man would think it OK to hear that about his partner?

Just using a childish acronym doesn't make the content any more acceptable. Most men would want to punch the 'friend' in the face - or at least lose them as a friend.

Weird....

crumblingschools · 12/07/2024 00:19

@Sparrowball so why can’t they use the word attractive.

If Starmer described a female delegate at the NATO Summit as a MILF, how do you think that would go down? Everyone praising him for the wonderful compliment he had given her. Or if he wolf whistled someone

Do you not understand the difference between a lads WhatsApp group and the NATO summit? Or that a man would act in a formal and professional manner when working? Or that a politician might act differently once elected?

I think some posters here are going to strangle themselves with all the pearl clutching.

crumblingschools · 12/07/2024 00:48

@Sparrowball many times a woman is wolf whistled by someone at work eg by builder. Is that okay?

Keeping Children in Safe in Education, the Safeguarding guidance for school, specifically refers to banter and how sexist terms etc cannot be excused in the guise as banter. So wouldn’t it be great if parents could back up schools whilst they try and eradicate the huge issue that our girls are facing in schools. And if we can reduce this behaviour in schools, then just maybe it can improve it in society. Men need to call out behaviour of other men. But parents have a huge role to play when bringing up their sons, and not just say ‘oh well boys will be boys’ or just accept they will always be like this. They don’t have to be.

A builder isn't an elected public representative, you're shifting the goal post moving from the new UK PM to a builder.

A child in school in unlikely to be called a milf ... because they're a child. I really don't know why you keep talking about schools in a humble brag thread.

Just like all the wonderful partners and sons of posters here who wouldn't dream of being so uncouth (according to their wives/mothers 🤣), I'd imagine a lot of teasing, bullying behaviour etc in schools is done out of earshot of teachers.

The OP was called a milf in a WhatsApp group, I've no idea why so many knickers are in a knot, or why you keep posting about schools. It's like this forum is inhabited by rabid feminists who see offence everywhere they look. Life must be an exhausting and never ending endurance test with that outlook.

I'm actually agog at some of the opinions here. I'm wondering whether some of your are actually men infiltrating. Or the 1950s called and want its misogyny back.

Fuck sake.

I am sorry your standards and expectations of men are so low.
