I'm a MILF apparently...

Just seen a WhatsApp chat (showed to me by DP) where I have been referred to by one of his friends as a MILF.... I'm fucking fuming. Trying not to overreact but the bloody cheek...
Personally I find this dismissive and insulting but didn't think I would be quite this angry. Happy to be told I'm overreacting but not sure I can let this slide!

@10AngelO you just end up looking worse with every comment you make.

The crap that girls have to put up with in school is excused by boys as banter. These boys grow up thinking banter and disrespecting women is fine. Do you think they suddenly stop when they leave school?

A man using the term milf does not mean he is going to treat every woman in his life awfully 🤣 we can agree to disagree. There is worse things happening in the world than being called a milf, and you must be very sheltered to come crying to mumsnet after being called one. But judging by your comments I don’t think you will need to worry about being called a milf 😁

The poll speaks for itself really, it’s not just me.

StarryIsabella · 11/07/2024 19:37

Sadly men will always be men! One of my ex partners once admitted to me that the first thing he thought about when meeting a woman was if she was good at sex...

I became upset and he said most men think like that. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Growlybear83 · 11/07/2024 19:34

I agree with most of what you've said. I remember the days when men weren't scared to wolf whistle at women - it always gave me a little lift when that happened. I never once felt in any way disrespected or offended.

Exactly!

crumblingschools · 11/07/2024 19:40

So a man wouldn’t find someone attractive if they care about girls/women being subjected to sexist language and worse.

So you agree it’s bad if you are a school girl but believe you become a snowflake when you hit 18.

crumblingschools · 11/07/2024 19:42

@StarryIsabella and that attitude is why men carry on getting away with it.

10AngelO · 11/07/2024 19:42

Enough with the waffle

crumblingschools · 11/07/2024 19:44

@Growlybear83 would you be happy if that happened in school. The statistics I gave earlier covered Primary schools too not just Secondaries.

Some people really need to raise the bar

Well feel free to give us advice of how we can stop men being a little cheeky. 🤣

crumblingschools · 11/07/2024 20:06

Bring up boys to treat girls respectfully

crumblingschools · 11/07/2024 20:15

@StarryIsabella when does it go from being wrong when girls are young to when it becomes cheeky.

I have to deal with the problems with boys treating girls disrespectfully at school (usually excused by parents of boys, and like some of the posters on here, as banter, cheeky etc). A female relative who is in the police has to deal with them when they become adults, setting up safe spaces that women can go to, especially when on a night out, when they don’t feel so safe with the ‘banter’ that they are being subjected to. Maybe, she should just call them snowflakes and leave them to get on with it.

Maybe, some parents need to understand what is happening in schools at the moment and not treat derogatory terms as banter or a complement, because things are getting worse not better

If you mean men wolf whistling, then I certainly never had a problem with it when I was at school, and it wouldn't have bothered me if it had happened to my daughter once she was over the age of consent.

Sweetmelanin · 11/07/2024 20:17

I swear to God MN is a parallel universe. I don’t know anyone in real life who would be so uptight about this comment. And no I am not desperate for male validation. I’m happily married with kids and very satisfied with my life.

crumblingschools · 11/07/2024 20:17

@Growlybear83 would it have bothered her. Why do you think it is acceptable behaviour?

How pathetic that you think being called a MILF is a compliment. You self respect and self esteem must be rock bottom if you're happy with scraps like that.

Hear hear. The number of women who get flattered by any male validation, however demeaning, is just depressing.

And I don’t respect the view of anyone who uses the term Karen.

TheBizzies · 11/07/2024 20:39

This is just a stealth boast in disguise you old hotty you 😉 😂

It absolutely wouldn't have bothered her, and I'm sure it wouldn't have bothered her friends either.

I honestly don't see anything wrong in someone making a harmless comment, wolf whistle etc to a woman. When I was growing up, the only females I knew who didn't like other women being wolf whistled were the ones who were ignored 😆😆

CrimpNStraighten · 11/07/2024 20:48

10AngelO · 11/07/2024 19:27

inappropriate comments to school girls is not the same obviously🤨. They are not going to get called milfs lol, but in my opinion milf is harmless, agree to disagree I guess. Bet you are also one of those people that get offended when a builder calls you love. You must be fun at dinner parties

You make yourself look worse with every comment. I am cringeing for you!

What an unpleasant comment. I don’t know if you are a man or woman but your misogyny is dreadful.

Have to agree with you there @PonkyPonky ! I am the only female in my office and this is sp accurate.

My 20y son is sitting beside me. We have brought him up well. His dad is respectful. I asked him just now if he would ever catcall someone. He said, ‘no way. It is the worst thing foul men do. And it makes me so angry. I think it makes me even angrier because I have a sister’.

That is how we do it. Some of us are raising decent men.

crumblingschools · 11/07/2024 20:55

I thought we had moved on from the 70s, but obviously not. I thought Andrew Tate was a bad influence on boys but unfortunately it would appear quite a few mums aren’t exactly helping either
