I'm talking about those light gadgets that wipes away wrinkles! Has anyone got one??
And, those hot brushes you comb through your hair in the car? Do they work??

I recently bought the serum that’s all over TikTok, the natural Botox to plump your lips. Waste of money. I’m not doing it any more, what I’ve already got works for me.

KimberleyClark · 27/05/2024 09:23

I wonder about that Laura Geller baked foundation too.

MaidOfBondStreet · 27/05/2024 09:27

@KimberleyClark Yes!! Has anyone used it)
What about Il Makiage? Looks fabulous but does it actually work that well??? Who has used it?

A heads up on Il Makiage - I looked amazing in photos and video calls but like a cakey hag in real life. I’m glad I got to meet my inner hag, should I ever get a job as a banshee, but I wasn’t expecting to find it in a make up bottle! It was very matte/powdery on wearing, that type of thing only works well on under 25s I think. I could have just had bad luck but definitely have a look through any reviews to see if it’s only young people praising it. Now, if you want to look like a babe on Teams calls, it would be a good buy for sure.

ManilowBarry · 27/05/2024 09:33

Laura Geller has been an established make up artist and cosmetic brand for decades.

MaidOfBondStreet · 27/05/2024 09:34

So the next thing I thought of buying was a hot brush that seemed to smooth frizz into straight hair

I don't wear make up, but my friend raves about Il Makiage. To be fair, she always looks pretty good.

KreedKafer · 27/05/2024 11:28

Il Makiage is awful.

I wonder about that Laura Geller baked foundation too.

I used to use this years ago and then could never find it anywhere, I was over the moon when it suddenly became a TikTok trend again, I love it! It's very light coverage though.

Snowontheholly · 27/05/2024 11:30

I tried il Makiage and didn't like it at all. The colour was completely off, also cakey and too matte for me. The only benefit is that if it's the wrong colour they'll send a replacement. I sold them on Vinted and got my money back 😂

KreedKafer · 27/05/2024 11:28

Il Makiage is awful.

Agreed, thick and cakey

Tosstyhat · 27/05/2024 11:33

Laura Geller make up is great

dudsville · 27/05/2024 11:35

i've tried the Laura Gellar, Il Makiage and the hot brush. All were pants for me. I was however abe to get a refund for the LG and IL so that was ok.

NailsHairNipsHeels · 27/05/2024 11:35

Il makiage is terrible. Thick, cakey, very drying and the oxidisation is off the scale. I'm very pale and looked like an oompah loompah used it once and never again.

Laura Geller is ok. Can be a bit drying but reasonable coverage and colours are pretty good. You can get it on QVC which means you can use it and if you don't like it return it

OutOfTheHouse · 27/05/2024 11:35

I love Il Makiage, and their eyeshadow etc is good too. I’m outlandishly pale and it’s one of the few brands that is pale enough.

Daftapath · 27/05/2024 11:35

I have bought one of those gimmicky light things. Surprisingly, I do think my skin seems a bit smoother but that could just be all the extra creams/serums it's getting in order to use the thing! 🤷🏼‍♀️

Tagyoureit · 27/05/2024 11:36

Il MAKIAGE is good but you must use their primer!! It's bloody awesome!

savoycabbage · 27/05/2024 11:40

The best thing I've ever bought that's actually worked is this.

www.boots.com/the-ordinary-organic-virgin-sea-buckthorn-fruit-oil-30ml-10286196

It has transformed my skin...BUT...it's ridiculously orange. Like more orange than you can ever imagine. Sitting with it on your face in the evening to let it sink in is best.

I guessed this would be the case for the hot brush, especially as you can buy it from AliBaba for about a quid - honestly!

I recently got sucked into buying the Heyshape shaper bodysuits. Read all the comments about sizing down - I actually gambled and went 2 sizes down. I'll be damned, they actually work. Tested all day and very comfortable.
Don't get me wrong, they don't make me super skinny, but I certainly appear more than a little slimmer and with a much nicer silhouette.

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 27/05/2024 12:36

I use il mikiage, I like it. Has excellent staying power and doesn't look painted on. It doesn't give the air brush look like their adverts say though. It did take 3 attempts to get my shade right, but I'm not sure it's worth the huge price tag.

I really struggle with foundation as I'm pale, but have a yellowy complexion so tend to find foundation too orange or too white.

Bellyblueboy · 27/05/2024 14:57

I bought the lip stain - Wonderskin. It does last a few hours

Sneezein3 · 27/05/2024 17:19

Love this thread - anyone tried the straightening brush?

iamwhatiam23 · 27/05/2024 17:21

Il makiage is awful! The straightening brush is rubbish as well!

I actually started using this a few months ago. It's very good. I'm 62.
