@CreepyDibillo Those HeyShape body suits have been chasing me round the internet for weeks and I am sorely tempted to give them a go... Glad to hear a positive review!

CutthroatDruTheViolent · 28/05/2024 13:03

I'm always tempted by the Laura Geller - but then I remember my skin hates powder foundation so don't.

I recently bought this beach waver thing from Tiktok. Like a massive crimper, was £22. Does exactly what it says on the tin, but is obvs cheaply made. I don't mind though, I like the way it makes my hair look.

I have been scammed before by a company that I eventually got my money back from - it was one of those "get this bag for a fiver!" type things, I should have known better - they took the fiver, then £85 or something, and set up a continuous card transaction. I got on a Chat with them and like I said managed to get my money back, but not before quoting their own T&C back to them as well as distance selling regs. So don't order from something that you don't see a person actually using, or that isn't a recognised company.

I wonder about that Laura Geller baked foundation too.

It’s rubbish! I’ve gone back to my previous foundation, which is fab for me.
The Laura Geller baked one just sat on my face and melted off in streaks.

I have an LED light mask, only 3 weeks in, and my skin isn’t as red anymore and any whiteheads I’ve had (far fewer) have cleared up far quicker than they have done previously.
I don’t have wrinkles/lines so can’t comment on that aspect.

Menopausal.

Definitely size down. Check out the comments on socials before buying.
Like i said, not a jaw dropping miracle worker, but definitely a noticeable difference.

I looked at Il Makiage. How much?! 😱 £20 for a sodding eyeliner?! Fuck no. I get it's more high end, but I'll pass. I thought shelling out £28 a pop on some Ace Beaute eyeshadow palettes was the hight of luxury. 😅 Although that was a while ago.

CerealPonderer · 28/05/2024 14:59

Anyone tried Lumentes? Magnetic eyelashes with no eyeliner.

I've never worn falsies because I can't bear the thought of glue anywhere near my eye and I'm crap with liquid liner so I've not bothered with the Magnetic ones with eyeliner needed.

These have caught my interest and I'm not sure whether to try them 🤔.

There's a lady in our village who sells the Pure Royals perfumes and they seem pretty good. I've only bought the Jo Malone Pear and Freesia so far and it's lovely. Smells exactly the same as the real thing.
A work colleague is obsessed with anything Jo Malone and says the Pure Royals actually last longer.

M&S Sea Salt & Neroli is a brilliant dupe of Jo Malone's Wood Sage & Sea Salt, I actually prefer it and it last longer, had lots of compliments too. £10

I’m intrigued by these as well! Though all seem to be sold under different names. Was trying to find a UK based company before buying but not had any luck.

I really liked Il Makiage (bottle v nearly finished) and still using the concealer. I do have quite greasy skin though and only use a very light coverage of it, buff it in with a foundation brush so maybe that makes a difference. I don't really have the money for a new bottle of it right now so I'm using up others. I'm not 100% sure it's worth the hefty price tag compared to l'oreal or similar though.

I also have wonderskin lip stain stuff (you paint it on blue then let it sit and wipe off) and I really like that as I hate lipstick (the feeling and how it wears on my lips to leave a circle of colour around the edge). The lip stain leaves a lovely colour that just wears off gradually and feels like you aren't wearing anything.

I got those powder nail varnish things that are on SM. They looked a mess and totally wrecked my nails.

Wizardcalledoz · 28/05/2024 15:55

Not sure if this is the right thread for this, but has anyone tried Gen See make up? The eye shadows look amazing, especially the shimmery ones, the matt ones look a bit dry, even in their own adverts for them. But its €70+ for 3 small eye shadows....eh, no!

I have not tried the matt eyeshaddows but got ther rose-gold shimmery one. Fool proof (as in me being cackhanded proof), you can use your finger to buff and blend and build up, also what's left on my finger is a nice subtle highlight.

Also got one of their Creme blushes - pretty buildable and very long lasting. Also they sit nicely and look natural over a BB cream and give a sort of "me but healthier" look. Not sure how well they would sit on drier skin or foundation though as it's definitely on the drier side as a mixture.

Relieved to discover via here that I’ve saved a fortune not buying il makiage. Hoping someone has tried the light masks and can feedback, though?

So these are the light thingys - has anyone bought one? Do they work?

Yes op, I bought one. Responded upthread.

I must be a sucker for these things as I have also bought the teeth cleaner - it's good on the bits it can reach but doesn't go between my teeth. Doesn't hurt though.

Also, the Dyson air wrap dupe, which I am also quite impressed with for £30 something. I'm sure the Dyson is far superior but haven't tried it. It isn't taken the place of my babyliss big hair but I use it as well as to give more body and wave.

I've just today bought some stick on the wall solar lights for the garden! Blush

Glad you started this thread. What about stuff that you got suckered into from sm? I’ll admit I bought the “ahem” leak proof pants, think they were Cosyfit or something. Utterly shite, I bought a size up, they won’t go above my knees, no stretch and customer services are dire. “Give them a go!” And the waterproof hooded jacket that was all over sm last summer. Waterproof as a paper bag and weird size.

Tried these too - only effective for very slight leaks, and no amount of hot washing gets the smell out once you’ve used them a dozen times. Supposed to last 50 washes?!!

CatherineParr · 28/05/2024 18:29

Anyone tried the pen nail polishes? Or the dip your fingers in the powder ones?

I've used the dip powders before - they're messy and definitely don't do it without watching some YouTube videos first, but I think it works well and lasts well. It is a bitch to get off though.

I quite like to do a single layer to strengthen my nails before polish.

So the next thing I thought of buying was a hot brush that seemed to smooth frizz into straight hair

DON'T buy a Dafni, thought it would be fantastic, was easy to use, but the bloody thing broke in under 6 months of infrequent use (so not flogged to death).
Also: don't buy from Selfridge's, they were not the slightest bit interested and told me to contact (phone!) the manufacturer in China even though the consumer advice I got was that they should sort it as I bought from them

I have the Revlon version of this, it's brilliant!

I am wondering about a massager that gets rid of cellulite. Anyone tried that?
