I'm talking about those light gadgets that wipes away wrinkles! Has anyone got one??
And, those hot brushes you comb through your hair in the car? Do they work??

Does anyone rate the Phillips Lumea? At the moment I pay £90 every 6 weeks for waxing so if the Lumea really works it will pay for itself within a year! But I'm fairly fair skinned and my body hair is also quite fair, so will it work?

Relieved to discover via here that I’ve saved a fortune not buying il makiage. Hoping someone has tried the light masks and can feedback, though?

I buy the foundation and the concealer, I really like it. The first time I tried it I had slightly the wrong shade and they fixed it for me. I think the colour is the closest I have ever achieved with any foundation.

As others have noted, you need a good skincare routine and you need to prep well. I do all these things and the foundation look great and lasts.

MadisonAvenue · 28/05/2024 20:44

I bought one of those water jet teeth flossers. I hate it, I’ve practised and practised and can’t get the hang of using it so that it doesn’t make me gag.

I got those powder nail varnish things that are on SM. They looked a mess and totally wrecked my nails.

Same here! So hard to remove, my normally strong nails were wrecked. Still have one or two flaking after months of using treatments and nail oils.

ItsNotInMyMind · 28/05/2024 21:29

Another vote for Laura Geller baked foundation. I also like the cream eyeshadows, sweep on or something like that - in little tubes. Only four colours though and one is permanently out of stock. Concealer also does wonders for my tired eyes. All just so easy to blend.

I also bought some KIKO eyeliners after they were recommended by someone on another thread a while back. I think they’re ok, not blown away.

Has anyone bought the really expensive seaweed shampoo from the Cornish Seaweed Bath company? I have and I want to love it (smells nice, the ethos of the company is great, yada yada yada), but my hair just isn't getting on with it. They claim it's the "detox" process from not having sulphates in it, but not sure how much longer to persevere. All the comments on SM (from what look like genuine, real people) are great, so I'd hate to stop using it right as it's about to start working!

I went through both bottles of the shampoo and conditioner, and thought it was rubbish! My hair ended up drier than ever, dull and unmanageable. My favourite range now is Wella Professionals - the red bottle. I forget which one it is, sorry!

TrtseHkpr · 28/05/2024 21:40

I liked Il Makiage, it took 2 attempts to get the right shade and their customer service was excellent throughout. I find it stays on all day, doesn't cake in my wrinkles, and has a nice finish. It is very pricey, I've tried Estee Lauder Double Wear, which was cheaper and better, but also at the other end of the spectrum Maybelline Super Stay 30 hour foundation which was better than them both 😅

Is that Sistaco you are taking about?

I bought into it just before lock down, and I did have a few problems back then but Im still wearing and nails still here

Im scared about trying the concealer tbh, Ive tried so many that just cake under the eyes. Im happy enough not to have a perfect complexion, but my dark bags are ageing me

Sell it do me :)

@Daftapath Did you have the led light gadget that smooths out your wrinkles?

My DIL ((waves cos she’s on here!))

she swears by hers. I’ve borrowed it a few times and it has slowed and thinned growth. I’m peri and suffered a lot with acne under my chin and on my neck with fine hair growth. It’s stopped that completely
i really should buy my own at some point.

probably stating the obvious. But as a heavily tattooed person I hadn’t realised until I looked into them you can’t use them on tattooed skin.

zusje · 28/05/2024 22:59

@Justkeeprollingalong yeah I used their scalp oil for the first time yesterday and figured needed at least two washes and the second wash seemed to foam much more and left my hair quite alright today. Also when I've washed my hair daily it also seems to work better (but then I don't really want to wash my hair daily as that defeats the purpose of the shampoo). Still not blown away, ut not at the 10 week mark, so I will use them up and then decide. I did the same, contacted them at the 59th day (I hadn't been using it since i got it as I had shampoo to finish first, but was worried missing out on the refund) and they said the same, persevere and they will honour it even if in future I'm not happy...we shall see if that's true!

Thanks for the recommendation @Janie1962 but I only use cruelty free products so Wella is a big no no! I've not found a shampoo I absolutely love yet (especially as I like unnatural hair colours so it's difficult to find something that won't strip them away) and i was so hoping this was it as all the reviews and the fact it's so natural, seaweed etc...I want to love it but...

zusje · 28/05/2024 23:01

Also has anyone used the new hair removal/EPL machine that seems to be on all the SM (Yorkshire Peach is heavily promoting it), don't remember the name but it's a purpley one and significantly cheaper than the Philip's one.

HighOnMaiden · 28/05/2024 23:11

Wonderskin 1440 eyeliner?

I’ve been looking at this for weeks with its promise of all day wear but reading mixed reviews. I wear eyeliner on my waterline and so far have found Mac Glide or Die to be the best but I’m loathe to ly £16 for a TikTok gimmick.

GreenShady · 29/05/2024 07:31

Word of advice re the Lumea - don't buy one then hardly use it till most of your chin hairs have turned white 🤦🏻‍♀️
I regret the wasted opportunity and will after all end up with a full white beard and tache.

It's very good when you do actually use it!

RedSuedePump · 29/05/2024 07:35

Has anyone tried those nail powder dip kits? they are all over my instagram and i keep thinking “it can’t be that easy?”

So the next thing I thought of buying was a hot brush that seemed to smooth frizz into straight hair

Are you talking about the portable Tymo? I have it and I love it although I don't think it would straighten super wavy or curly hair, it's great for frizz if you get caught in the rain. and it's super handy for holidays.

make sure you only get it when there's a discount though - the delivery charge is high, and the plug for charging is a US one so you'll need a converter plug.

I'm currently tempted by their portable curler yoke!

They are brilliant! Got one during lockdown - got a 20% discount so keep an eye out for offers.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 29/05/2024 08:02

A friend uses Il Makiage and she looks amazing in photos, at a distance, or in a low light. In daylight it is actually a bit frightening close up, but I'm pretty sure nobody puts that on in the morning.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 29/05/2024 08:03

Lumea works - I know lots of people who use it and I've seen the results. Really good, if you have the right kind of hair (dark).

I find this with a lot of my friends. They look amazing until you look closer and their make up is caked on! I look a bit shit in photos and in reality but no caking!

@Newestname002

Do you think this is safe with filled teeth and crowns, I am tempted as the dentists don't clean teeth anymore at check ups

minimonkey11 · 29/05/2024 17:41

Il makiage is ok actually and i am late 40s for context- but it doesnt cover like the viral ads say it does! Lanera foundation is better coverage than il makiage but more cakey- smoother on the skin though. I have a Shark hotbrush and smoother - its a plug in one - but it is AMAZING. I have quite fine hair though.

minimonkey11 · 29/05/2024 17:46

Also Colour Wow Dream Coat spray is amazing and smooths hair
