Has anyone got a Dyson hairdryer or hair straightener? I’m sorely tempted but they are so expensive!

@Daftapath Did you have the led light gadget that smooths out your wrinkles?

I really want to know too!!

Boomstick is rubbish.

I don’t wear a lot of make-up but like the idea of three simple products to give me a fresh/natural look.

For years Boomstick was only available in the US and I heard so much about it. Once it was available in the UK bought the trio. I really wanted to love it, but was so disappointed. The Glo (moisturiser) stick is hard and waxy and sits on top of your skin. I didn’t get the healthy glow promised. The Colour (blush/lips) is ok but wears off lips in seconds. The Glimmer (highlighter) - well when I wore it my husband said ‘what’s wrong with your eyes?’ 🤣

Much prefer Charlotte Tilbury’s Quick and Easy which is worth the money.

I love the Laura Geller powder foundation. It looks very natural.

restart2008 · 29/05/2024 19:20

Me and my son bought some noted aroma after shave / perfume. The sets of 5mls. They are very good dupes, don't think they lasted very long, but good size for travel and for a change every now and again they're great. Also agree with recommendations for lumea - has been amazing for me stopped all my ingrown hairs, wish I'd started using one years ago!

AlleycatMarie · 29/05/2024 19:28

I love my Il Makiage foundation! And also love the free eyeliner/other bits they send with my subscription!

I found il makiage awful.. shade was completely off and was so cakey. However they did completely refund me and I got to keep the free brush they sent 🤗

BooBooDoodle · 29/05/2024 19:55

I’ve got the led wand and mask. Love them both and they have made a huge difference. I’ve also got the revlon hairdryer brush. Don’t straighten my hair anymore. Makes life easier and when I look better I feel better.

usernother · 29/05/2024 20:07

I've just bought a very cheap dress that has been all over TikTok and I love it.

Is that Sistaco you are taking about?

I bought into it just before lock down, and I did have a few problems back then but Im still wearing and nails still here

Yes it is Sistaco.

Their c/s suggested I use a v thin base and just go really easy on removal. I will give it one more go once my nails have recovered because I’ve spent more than £100 on the kit and extra colours.

Yep, very very very thin coat, sort of a barely there, certainly no where near the depth of a normal nail varnish coat. Do make sure you dont flood the side walls and cuticle area, clean it off before curing if you do.

Removal is where people are doing the damage. Seriously there is nowt wrong with the product - although obviously there are those who do have allergic reactions, 99% of damage is user error.

Use an emery board - quite coarse, and without using any pressure at all, file the shine off. Then slop on the remover, let it bubble away and before it dries, use the triangle tool ( if you have, or an orange stick ) and just push off that colour that has lifted. Do not force it off, you will take part of you nail bed with it. Then go again, and again if need be. Some colours take 4 goes to be honest. I dont bother to get my nails perfectly clear if Im re doing them straight away, often bits of base coat left, but as long as its still bonded to the nail bed it wont cause a problem . I also use those exfoliating gloves to get as much off at the end as I can . Let your nails harden again, I take off one night, reapply another, and just use a fine buffer block to go over very gently to make sure you have a smooth surface Ive been wearing it for 4 years and my nails are good - but I did have probelms at the start until I learned through trial and error

I’ve got the Revlon hot brush and it’s A-MA-ZING, and not that expensive. I’m crap at doing my hair normally but it literally looks like I’ve had a professional blow dry when I use it, just put some mousse in your roots and it’ll hold for ages too.

I use Il Makiage F*ck I’m flawless concealer and it’s brilliant, I’m late 40s and struggled with concealer caking round my eyes but don’t have any issues with Il Makiage. Ive got a subscription and regularly get full size free gifts with my orders.

Pudmyboy · 28/05/2024 19:11

I have the Revlon version of this, it's brilliant!

Me too, it's amazing. I have NEVER managed to blow dry my hair like hairdressers do, and I'm 45. But with this, it's totally foolproof. I don't even section the hair or do anything, I just go at it. It looks shit for a bit when I'm doing it and then just magically becomes swishy and lovely.

countrysidelife2024 · 28/05/2024 13:37

also! SPF Tinted moisteriser mixed with a little facial oil, Makes my skin look amazing, with a natural brown mascara and lots of the blush

Which ones do you use please? Xx

Hedjwitch · 29/05/2024 20:48

I also have one of those sonic pointy tooth hygiene thingies. Really good if your teeth are close together and gets into all the wee gaps.

is it the stripey sun dress?

I see so many ads for that one.

LennyBalls · 29/05/2024 20:57

Really like Il Makiage. You can get mid coverage which I don't find cakey at all. In fact yesterday I used my Estée Lauder double wear for the first time in ages and realised I much prefer Il Makiage.

The Laura Geller baked foundation is good too.

Can't comment on hot brush.

I'm mid-50's for reference x

Tagyoureit · 27/05/2024 11:36

Il MAKIAGE is good but you must use their primer!! It's bloody awesome!

I love their primer too. And the concealer but the foundation is awful. Really matte and heavy.
Merwave hair products for naturally curly hair were another shocker. I looked like I’d been dragged through a hedge backwards

Cotswoldmama · 29/05/2024 21:46

I've used the sassy saints nail powders and think they're great. My first attempt was a bit iffy, I would recommend starting with a pale colour or clear to get used to it. Removal isn't great but basically the same as gel nails.
The other thing I got after seeing adds was snow teeth whitening it is amazing!

usernother · 29/05/2024 22:44

@Phantasmagorically is it the stripey sun dress?

Yes, but I've bought a plain coloured one. It's really flattering on.
