@Pontipinecity please let me know how you get on with the tooth thingy. I'm very tempted but I find the hygienist at the dentist really really painful and am worried it will be like that.

I was the same, I hate the hygenist, it hurts when the blast that water. This sonic gadget is a game changer. i had years old tartar thanks to covid. The gadget turned it into a paste that I just wiped away. It didn’t hurt at all. On some of the More sensitive teeth it feels uncomfortable but nowhere close to the way the hygienist feels. Everyone I have recommended it to loves theirs!

DirtyDensDog · 28/05/2024 08:23

Thanks @MegsNaiceJam I am very tempted. I don't have dentist fear at all but for some reason the hygienist is so painful. I went a couple of months ago and had to leave half way through as I couldn't handle the pain. The hygienist recommended I use a sensitive toothpaste for three months and then go back. I wouldn't say that I had sensitive teeth at all, only at the hygienists.

I bought an ultrasonic plaque remover for £25. I didn't expect it to work. It does!

Edited

I like the look of this and a couple of alternatives on Amazon. I'll take a proper look later - should hopefully save myself the £££ for each clean my dentist would charge. 🌹

I'm in my 50s and started getting crepy skin above my eye lids. I started using boots no7 pure night retinol on my face around a year ago and used a tiny amount just below eyebrows. The skin is back to smooth and has stayed smooth. Amazing stuff

Justkeeprollingalong · 28/05/2024 09:00

@zusje, I contacted them to send it back for a refund after 6 weeks. They told me to keep trying for another month (and would still give me a refund after that).

They were right after 10 weeks my hair was/is great. I do find

Justkeeprollingalong · 28/05/2024 09:02

@zusje posted too soon! I found it needs 2 shampoos. Can't complain though, 5 months and first bottle still going strong.

I wonder about that Laura Geller baked foundation too.

Laura Geller has been established for years - mid 90's at least

I just switched to the baked balance and brighten ( aged 59 ) after years of not wearing cosmetics and finding that liquid foundations were just not working for me, and Im very impressed. Get my face on in five mins and it lasts the day, no caking, no settling into my lines and feels lovely, as if Im not wearing anything

Also bought the double take for my t-zone and it holds the shine at bay much longer then any liquid Ive used

twentysevendresses · 28/05/2024 09:11

I fell for Il Makiage...looked absolutely dreadful!! Horrible texture and weird, yellow colour...to be fair they refunded me immediately when I sent in photos of how utterly awful my skin looked wearing it.

Absolutely love it. Used for years on and off but it's a staple nowadays. I used with a concealer or tinted moisturizer for heavier coverage but works great alone too. The highlighter and blush are favourites too, it all blends so well. I buy from eBay or QVC bundles.

So the next thing I thought of buying was a hot brush that seemed to smooth frizz into straight hair

Didn't work for me. I have long thick quite curly hair.

CreepyDibillo · 28/05/2024 09:20

Noted aromas.....any thoughts? Keep popping up on my Insta but I'm wondering if it's any better quality than the likes of FM Perfumes. Their markering certainly suggests so....

MegsNaiceJam · 28/05/2024 09:26

@DirtyDensDog tbe hygenist always feels like my gums are being attacked with razor blades. The gadget is very gentle and sometimes I don’t even feel anything other than it touching my teeth.

DirtyDensDog · 28/05/2024 09:28

@MegsNaiceJam I'm seriously thinking about it. At least if I do it myself I will feel like I've got control and take my time.

GreenShady · 28/05/2024 09:45

I instinctively want to steer clear of thick liquid foundation these days (late 50s) - maybe I'm wrong though!

But I really like the mineral powder like Bellapierre or Bare Minerals. It doesn't settle into creases and you can achieve a good level of coverage, going in after with a small brush to eliminate all kinds of small marks and blemishes. It's still working for me so I'll keep going till it doesn't 😂

GreenShady · 28/05/2024 09:46

Oh and I don't recommend Saltworks perfume sample sets - very uninteresting and nothingy.

I had the Saltworks perfume set in my basket recently. Checkout wouldn't allow me to enter a discount code that they had given me. I did live chat with them, they were so rude and unhelpful. I decided not to bother placing the order.

GreenShady · 28/05/2024 10:18

@DirtyDensDog

You haven't missed much - spend the money on something better 😊

PistachioCroissant · 28/05/2024 10:37

@Powderblue1 I bought the Lumea 8000 corded one. I can only use it on a low setting in my armpits but used full strength on my legs and it worked much faster there as a result. I was really impressed overall though.

rbe78 · 28/05/2024 11:08

I found Il Makiage absolutely awful. The colour match was good, but it is so thick and cakey. I felt like a clown wearing it, especially out in natural daylight. Without a primer it is truly awful and sinks into every pore and crevice.

In fairness to them they honoured their promise of a refund without any problem whatsoever, and let me keep the free full size liquid eyeliner they sent with it.

The straightening brushes are ok - but leave my hair a little bit frazzled looking as opposed to sleek and shiny like hair straighteners do.

Suri electric toothbrush is the one I’m curious about. Got stung by an “eco electric toothbrush” startup that took my money but can see these guys are pushing hard with the influencer crowd. Anyone vouch for them?

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 27/05/2024 20:56

How about perfumes? I got the Diem sample set (I complained as I got duplicates and they sent me another) I know they are unisex but I do find most of them a bit masculine. One may be a replacement for MMM Untitled, but they aren’t very long lasting. How about the other dupe companies? Anyone tried them?

There's a lady in our village who sells the Pure Royals perfumes and they seem pretty good. I've only bought the Jo Malone Pear and Freesia so far and it's lovely. Smells exactly the same as the real thing.
A work colleague is obsessed with anything Jo Malone and says the Pure Royals actually last longer.

I got two of these. Love them. They really do last over 40 days without a charge and make your teeth feel very clean. My husband said it made him happy after doing his teeth last week.

Oh excellent! I like that they can be hung up instead of going into a pot that gets all gross. May put them on the Christmas list…

I was a bit dubious about the magnet bit, but it's not fallen off once.

Yes also love Bare Minerals - I'm usually completely bare faced these days though, apart from serum and moisturiser. 🌹
