Mum screaming F you at another car outside nursery

I was just picking up my child when I saw another mum exit the nursery with her child.

They were going to a car parked on the road and there was an altercation with another car. The mum was putting her child into her seat and a woman in a car that was passing them, started shouting at the mum for putting her child in her seat in the road.

The mum then proceeded to shout 'F You ' twice to the lady, who then drove off. The mum then looked and me and said sorry and drove off.

AIBU to think this is totally unacceptable outside of a nursery ? Thankfully my child didn't hear, but her child did !

You do you. Maybe not the best example to set her kids but no doubt she swears at home anyway. You say yours didn't hear so no harm done.

Bluevelvetsofa · 16/05/2024 16:28

Not a good idea to have the door to the road open. Better to park so putting the child in the car is on the pavement side, or scramble across.

But, altercations outside a nursery or other educational establishment are never a good thing.

unicornlady · 16/05/2024 16:30

I think I might complain to the nursery. This is just not ok.

People lose their temper 🤷‍♀️ not saying it’s right but nothing truly bad actually happened

What about when you have two children?

Comedycook · 16/05/2024 16:34

Don't complain to the nursery 😂

And what do you think they’ll do? None of their business.

I guess that was meant for OP and not me

Revelatio · 16/05/2024 16:35

It’s got nothing to do with the nursery. Sounds like two stressed people having a bad day.

Bearbookagainandagain · 16/05/2024 16:36

I'm your child will recover from the trauma of hearing a swear word... Twice!

PitterPatter3 · 16/05/2024 16:38

I certainly would never aspire to behave like that but am not sure what realistically you can do about it. Nursery could send an email out to parents asking them not to swear in earshot of children I suppose (assuming it was definitely one of their parents and they were prepared to get involved in something which happened off the premises) but would that make a difference do you think?

SanFranBear · 16/05/2024 16:39

You can't complain.. what will you say? Someone who uses your services but wasn't on your property at the time said FUCK twice - not loud enough for my children to hear, by the way, but I'm sure hers did! Tell her off, please 😆

Do you complain to Asda when you walk passed people swearing outside? Or outside a pub in their beer garden? Have a word with yourself... !

Move on.

What are they going to do?

Sounds like the mum was stressed and didn't behave perfectly in that moment, we've all been there.
Maybe she'd had a bad day and is beating herself up about losing her cool already, are you really going to make things even worse for her by complaining?

Don't be such a busybody. Who fucking cares if she swore? So what?! How can this be real

Complain to the nursery about what? That a grown adult, not on their premises, swore? What would you like them to do?

That isn't possible when you have more than one child

Complain to the nursery because somebody swore in the vicinity of your child? 🤣

I would love to be the nursery worker who takes this "complaint" 🤣
