Mum screaming F you at another car outside nursery

I was just picking up my child when I saw another mum exit the nursery with her child.

They were going to a car parked on the road and there was an altercation with another car. The mum was putting her child into her seat and a woman in a car that was passing them, started shouting at the mum for putting her child in her seat in the road.

The mum then proceeded to shout 'F You ' twice to the lady, who then drove off. The mum then looked and me and said sorry and drove off.

AIBU to think this is totally unacceptable outside of a nursery ? Thankfully my child didn't hear, but her child did !

Don't ever attend a football match with your child OP, your arsehole will drop out!

earther · 16/05/2024 21:48

My kids have heard me say a lot worse.
Sorry op but we all lose it sometimes.

I think I might complain to the nursery. This is just not ok.

So you want the nursery to police how people act in public areas?

Sure, its not nice to hear that when you have small children with you, but you say your DC didin't hear

What do you want to happen? They put her on the naughty step?

SnobblyBobbly · 16/05/2024 22:06

So she lost her temper, probably wasn't her shining moment, and you feel the need to add to that?

I doubt the nursery kids will remember the dark day one of the mums launched a double F bomb. Jeez Louise.

What the hell can nursery do about grown adults behaviour outside the premises, on a public road?

Don't bother.

We have actually had letters from nursery about this sort of thing, reminding all parents that these sorts of altercations effect their children and to mind their language and behaviour outside nursery so presumably people have complained - so you definitely wouldn't be the first. (We also had an email about someone spitting and were reminded not to spit in the street ....)
I don't see why you shouldn't mention it, but I'd be sure to highlight both parents were out of line here.

I'd be telling that nursery to fuck off, how ridiculous trying to control everyone's behaviour.

By the tjme they are all in primary school they will have heard every swear word going anyway. Each class has that one feral fucker aged 6 calling the teacher a cunt for telling them to sit nicely on the carpet.

They scooch over, it's really dangerous and annoying when people have their door wide open on a road. Especially in the evening, black car and clothing.

How on Earth do I train my 17 week old in an isofix car seat to scooch over 😂. Both of my children are in fixed isofix seats so there’s no scooching to be had.

Anonymous2025 · 16/05/2024 22:48

So you think your kids will never hear a swear word 🙄😂
Get a grip . Road rage happens to the best of us .
The nursery will only think you are crazy

Really? What do you think the nursery are going to do? They're not the swearing police! 😂

bagginsatbagend · 17/05/2024 00:28

My son used to call his blankie his ‘wanker’ (he has autism & was very delayed with his speech) you’d have had a fucking field day seeing us come out of nursery school thinking he was screaming wanker at me 😂😂

Good luck with that op 🤣

DreamTheMoors · 17/05/2024 01:22

I know a couple who taught their two-year-old daughter every dirty word you can imagine and to give people the finger on cue.
And they thought it was clever and funny.
Nobody laughed in return, but they found it hysterical.

FleursDeFilles · 17/05/2024 01:25

All the mums in my baby group swear in front of their babies. I'm the only one that doesn't and it makes me wince. Different folks different strokes!

Meggriffinshatsmells · 17/05/2024 06:41

Actually, I think you should launch a formal complaint with the nursery.

The staff work long days, they could probably do with a laugh.

Aw you've reminded me of the phase my eldest had where just about everything sounded like "fuck". The fox pocket on a particular top was a "fucken fuckit" and more than once the reminder "and what do you say?" was met with "FUCK YOU MUMMY!" cheerfully roared across the playground in thanks.

My dd2 was a late talker and had some interesting pronunciations of words. I remember the shocked look of a person at the next table in a restaurant when she said 'shut up' a few times followed by 'fuck you' (she was asking for ketchup, followed by thank you but pronounced them perfectly as shut up and fuck you 😅)

I've never sworn at an adult in the street infront of my kids

thefamous5 · 17/05/2024 07:44

Grow up. It's a word.

Is it the nicest word? No. But it's a word. It's not illegal.

I hope you're the pinnacle of excellent etiquette and never ever have a bad day.

trickotreat · 17/05/2024 07:51

@rwa818

Sounds like the mum was stressed and didn't behave perfectly in that moment, we've all been there.
Maybe she'd had a bad day and is beating herself up about losing her cool already, are you really going to make things even worse for her by complaining?
Didn't behave perfectly?
This is road rage. If it had been a man would you be so forgiving. It's appalling behaviour

When I had young twins, I just put both seats in the back of the car then got into the front and leaned over the back and positioned and secured them in.

I lived on a main busy road and saw people have close calls which made me think, extra work for me is better than risking mine or my child's life especially when people have more distractions than ever.

Some people's lack of awareness, scares me. I was coming round a bend and a woman was crouched down cleaning her car wheels in the road, this was a 40mph road and thought if got cramp, her head would be a watermelon under my car.

gindreams · 17/05/2024 07:57

Please complain to the nursery ! They will be utterly thrilled and grateful for this information!
