Mum screaming F you at another car outside nursery

I was just picking up my child when I saw another mum exit the nursery with her child.

They were going to a car parked on the road and there was an altercation with another car. The mum was putting her child into her seat and a woman in a car that was passing them, started shouting at the mum for putting her child in her seat in the road.

The mum then proceeded to shout 'F You ' twice to the lady, who then drove off. The mum then looked and me and said sorry and drove off.

AIBU to think this is totally unacceptable outside of a nursery ? Thankfully my child didn't hear, but her child did !

I think I might complain to the nursery. This is just not ok.

What on earth have the poor nursery staff got to do with it? What do you expect them to do? Send an email out saying “please don’t say fuck you to the other parents at pickup time, thank you”?!

Just move on with your life.

Good Luck when your DC starts school OP! You'll hear much worse than this (unless you're going to privately educate your child!) Ha!

Unless she's going to home school I'd say!

Kesio · 16/05/2024 19:40

Just leave it. People are bastards and they always will be. Someone spat on my dh at a train station today. Dh thinks it might be because the man wanted 2 seats to himself, but dh had sat by the man (taking only about 3/4 of one seat) because he was knackered and needed to rest.

What you need to teach your child is to get away from people who behave like this.

lol is that a joke? My grown up ds was in reception in a private school years ago and a classmate said fuck!

What’s it got to do with the nursery? What do you expect them to do?

Totally agree but people are usually encouraged to involve 'the school' in their parking spats outside school etc..

OffMyDahlias · 16/05/2024 19:46

I’d mention to the nursery, one mum at DS’s school was very belligerent. She now has to do pick ups and drops offs at another gate just off the school property. Much less stressful without the risk of her kicking off.

fizzwhizz1 · 16/05/2024 19:47

@Kesio exactly! Happens in private schools as well! OP is going to get a shock in the real world!

Why? What are they going to do?

you sound so incredibly precious.

two women had an altercation - you weren’t involved so stay out of it.

Dibbydoos · 16/05/2024 20:01

Ah the language Anglo Saxon shall ner be forgotten cos the French when they invaded sent it underground.... Oh how we still get upset about its use today, many centuries later... I think we all need to be Gen X about it and stop giving a sh1t about the use of Anglo Saxon!

@unicornlady I more concerned about the behaviour not the language. She shouldn't have been putting her in roadside but it happens so 1st mum was ooo saying anything, 2nd was ooo reacting as she did but we all have our crosses to bear so maybe she was having a bad day.

Best to smile and move on methinks.

This reminded me of the time my son (six at that time) heard swearing on the bus and stood up i asked him what he was doing and he said "im going to tell those bigger boys off one of them said fuck and there are kids on this bus" 😂

I'm sure the nursery will make those narsty chavs write out
"I will not say rudey words"
100 times and do a weeks detention

They may enjoy that because😂 they may see it as a medal

I was in a rush at Morrison's last week and the stupid bloody self checkout kept going wrong. I was really, really pushed for time as I needed to get home to meet someone and I was running late. The people that help at the checkout kept wandering off so it was taking ages every time there was a problem.

I may or may not have muttered "stupid bastard fucking machine" when it refused to acknowledge the item on the belt for the millionth time.

It was one of the those long self-checkouts as I had a full trolley of food.

I may or may not have looked up and seen a family with a young child on the other side of the checkout that I hadn't noticed while I was furiously scanning my food.

It was not my finest moment. But it was a stupid fucking bastard of a machine. Sometimes these phrases just slip out.

So thoughtful of you to be concerned about this awful behaviour

You have no idea what she is going through - so I wouldn’t judge. I’d be checking she was okay? It sounds like the last straw.

OhshutupBrenda · 16/05/2024 21:21

Lol

AffableApple · 16/05/2024 21:23

Bluevelvetsofa · 16/05/2024 16:28

Not a good idea to have the door to the road open. Better to park so putting the child in the car is on the pavement side, or scramble across.

But, altercations outside a nursery or other educational establishment are never a good thing.

I've had people scream at me for this too. They can't see the other twin already in. I'm not Mr Tickle, I can't buckle the second one in from the other side!

AffableApple · 16/05/2024 21:28

RubySloth · 16/05/2024 18:06

They scooch over, it's really dangerous and annoying when people have their door wide open on a road. Especially in the evening, black car and clothing.

Not always possible, depending on age though. And then they need buckling in.

WhereIsMyLight · 16/05/2024 18:41

@MaryFuckingFerguson please tell me you name changed just for this thread?

I hate to tell you OP that your kid is going to hear swearing, you can’t police the entire world. They’re also going to say fuck when they’re actually trying to say frog or some other completely innocent word. And you just need to style it out rather than having another mum reporting you to nursery.

our toddler doesn’t pronounce the “se” of horse, just says “hor” despite us trying to over emphasise 😂

think that’s much worse than fuck 😂

Travelismything · 16/05/2024 21:37

Even having read “Uranus” - I think this OP wins as either the best windup or biggest fucking pearl clutcher of the day

earther · 16/05/2024 21:38

Only on mums nett.
I hear its almost illegal for a parent to swear and kids must never see parents or any other parent lose their temper.
WELL WE ARE HUMANS.
And kids will see and hear things.
