Mum screaming F you at another car outside nursery

I was just picking up my child when I saw another mum exit the nursery with her child.

They were going to a car parked on the road and there was an altercation with another car. The mum was putting her child into her seat and a woman in a car that was passing them, started shouting at the mum for putting her child in her seat in the road.

The mum then proceeded to shout 'F You ' twice to the lady, who then drove off. The mum then looked and me and said sorry and drove off.

AIBU to think this is totally unacceptable outside of a nursery ? Thankfully my child didn't hear, but her child did !

What about when you have two children?

This. There was no reason for the other driver to shout. Since its outside a nursery, I presume the road wouldn't be 60mph and so cars would be driving slow and able to take care and avoid car.

What I'd the car was passing a cyclist? Would they have shouted at them too for being on the road ?

We have regular sweary shouting matches outside our inner London primary, and the occasional physical fight. This morning a dad was screaming at another parent, from what I could hear it was a disagreement that started in the pub the previous evening.

I have also seen a dad urinate up school building wall, and before we started there was a drive by shooting at pick up time…. Thankfully no one was hurt.

I feel pretty confident that complaint will instantly be filed under 'B' for Bin (or 'N' for Nutter).

Rosebel · 16/05/2024 16:50

Yeah complain to the nursery. It's a hard, thankless job so this will give them a good laugh!

MourningMyFormerSelf · 16/05/2024 16:50

I lost it under similar circumstances once. I don’t feel great about it but I’d just found out DS was terminally ill. He died 7 weeks later.

You don’t always know what’s going on in people’s lives and sometimes there’s a place for just cutting them some slack.

unicornlady · 16/05/2024 16:52

We've received emails before about parents parking on double yellows outside and residents complaining. I'm sure they'll send out an email reminding people to mind how they behave as it's a residential street.

Oh some people love a good bit of gossip 😏

Not a good idea to have the door to the road open. Better to park so putting the child in the car is on the pavement side, or scramble across.

But, altercations outside a nursery or other educational establishment are never a good thing.

I had a woman shouting and swearing at me. I was putting my dc in the roadside. However I also had a passenger in front and 2 dcs already in the back. Sometimes no choice but to go roadside. I also can't lean right over and secure them all in from the pavement due to back issue.

I had taken seconds and she was screaming and swearing at me.

liveforsummer · 16/05/2024 16:54

Oh bless! I'm afraid in the real world people swear! It's not ideal but hardly a criminal offence so nothing to report.

Charl1991 · 16/05/2024 16:54

Complain about what? We all have bad days it’s just language and wasn’t directed towards any children!

saoirse31 · 16/05/2024 16:55

The mother apologised to you, not really sure what more you want.

It's legal to park on double yellows though. Not so much to have a little swear!

liveforsummer · 16/05/2024 16:56

*illegal obvs 😬

PossumintheHouse · 16/05/2024 16:58

Go on then, complain to the nursery. They'll only laugh at you behind your back.

It's 'fuck' twice. Not exactly music to the ears, but I can think of worse trauma.

oops sorry just seen your next post - ignore this one

RookieMa · 16/05/2024 16:59

People swear get over it

catlady7 · 16/05/2024 17:01

You can't complain. They won't do anything. You can't stop swear words unfortunately. I'd rather my kids learn from me than anyone else. Fuck is a great word

DarkForces · 16/05/2024 17:05

I hope you sign it off 'Disgusted, Tunbridge Wells. That'll learn 'em. Nurseries are completely responsible for the lack in of etiquette from parents after all!

MrsWhites · 16/05/2024 17:07

The nursery are going to laugh you out of there if you complain.

What do you expect them to do, send a newsletter saying ‘please do not say f*ck you in front of the nursery’?

RedRobyn2021 · 16/05/2024 17:10

I mean... given the right circumstances, I'd do the same as her

You sound really prissy

RedRobyn2021 · 16/05/2024 17:13

Dear nursery

Boo boo I saw a mum lose her temper with another mum and swear once, rather than mind my own business and understand people get mad sometimes, I decided to make it in to something in the hopes that you'd send out a passive aggressive email on my behalf

Signed,

An overly concerned parent with nothing better to do

fancyfrogs · 16/05/2024 17:19

🤣 find something better to do seriously

BodyKeepingScore · 16/05/2024 17:25

unicornlady · 16/05/2024 16:30

I think I might complain to the nursery. This is just not ok.

And what exactly are the nursery going to do? Police how adults use language outside their building? Unenforceable.
