Nearly cried at the change in weather

I felt so much better at the end of last week with the sunshine and even this morning was happy hanging the washing out . Until the rain set in again and I checked the long term forecast and it's to stay showery and under .20 degrees until mid June now. Can't help it. Just feel really depressed. I was so happy pottering in the garden and getting a bit of sun. Anyone else struggling.

I know, it's really hard. I always say summer never really gets going until after midsummer's day weirdly

CissOff · 13/05/2024 21:14

Same. I hate this grey, bleak weather.

We are going abroad for half term and I cannot wait.

Pinknotpurple · 13/05/2024 21:14

Yep the weather really matters to me too. Small pleasures like breathing in the summer scents x

Delatron · 13/05/2024 21:15

They can not forecast a week ahead accurately let alone a month! So I wouldn’t panic yet. It’s mid May, it’s usually like this. Hopefully it will perk back up again soon.

35965a · 13/05/2024 21:15

I totally get it. I’m an autumn fan and dislike much heat, but this past year has been so rainy that I am just craving sun.

Delatron · 13/05/2024 21:16

I was quite sad putting the rain covers on my garden furniture that I’d only just got out for precisely 3 days. But I remain (foolishly) optimistic the warm weather will return. I agree, it does make such a difference.

spanieleyes22 · 13/05/2024 21:16

It's just been such a long winter and no spring to speak of. Went for a week in wales last July and got 1 sunshine and showers day the rest was rain. It's rained every Friday since then! It's hard to feel joy atm. Am getting into bed with a hot water bottle. Again. So tired of it

Oh I felt so ill with the heat!

Well luckily it was only a few days and not that hot…

60andsomething · 13/05/2024 21:17

I hate the heat too, and am so glad tit has gone away again

WindowViper · 13/05/2024 21:17

I packed DD a sun hat in her nursery bag last night, and felt so silly this morning that I dared to hope she’d need it.

Same here

usually there are a few nice sunny days in March, and s couple more in April. I work part time and usually get a few days off to do some sunny gardening in Spring. Instead we’ve had 6 months of rain. Last weekend was a lovely break … but now straight back to rain again

it is getting me down a bit

I love blue sky and sunshine more than heat. It wasn't very hot tho? Just enough to take off a jumper!

It wasn't even bloody hot!

FoxRedPuppy · 13/05/2024 21:21

It’s 17 degrees in Yorkshire, not exactly hot water bottle weather!

I’ve enjoyed the sunshine, but forecasts are only really useful a few days in advance

AStrawberryTart · 13/05/2024 21:21

It’s rubbish isn’t it? It was lovely to feel the sun on my face for a few days. Fingers crossed it’s just a blip and we have a roasty toasty July/August.

No it wasn’t very hot and a bit of a lovely respite to 6 months of rain and grey. The flooding round here has been crazy.

I find it bizarre that people can’t cope with a slight temperature increase and sunny weather for a few days. It was about 22/23 degrees!

MyFirstLittlePony · 13/05/2024 21:22

People complaining about the “heat” must be trolling 😁😁😁

Yes same @MyFirstLittlePony . It took 2 days to get the garden under some kind of control because it's a wet garden normally and north facing and I literally haven't been able to get out there. Finally was getting it under control and the rain is back. I even dashed out a bought another pot and some compost in my lunch hour. Shouldn't have wasted my money.

Yabu.

It's only the middle of spring. The last year has been so warm, we barely even had a winter. It's scary by how much all the records have been broken. It's crazy that yesterday it was 27degrees in parts of the country.

You’d think so wouldn’t you. But it happens every year. The minute the rain and grey ends (that we’ve had for 6 plus months) not forgetting that last summer was quite shit apart from a few weeks in June.

Probably the twinkly lights, snuggled under blankets drinking hot chocolate brigade who love the dark wet cold weather 😂

tracktrail · 13/05/2024 21:24

The weekend was glorious, then business as usual today.
The forecast is only accurate for a few days, so I live in hope and am ignoring my colleague who goes on and on about 'they' who control our weather with 'spraying' and 'chemtrails' and his theory about controlling us with weather.
I may commit murder with a brolly!
