Nearly cried at the change in weather

I felt so much better at the end of last week with the sunshine and even this morning was happy hanging the washing out . Until the rain set in again and I checked the long term forecast and it's to stay showery and under .20 degrees until mid June now. Can't help it. Just feel really depressed. I was so happy pottering in the garden and getting a bit of sun. Anyone else struggling.

Yabu.

It's only the middle of spring. The last year has been so warm, we barely even had a winter. It's scary by how much all the records have been broken. It's crazy that yesterday it was 27degrees in parts of the country.

Really? I remember lots of scorching May Day bank holidays! We haven't had spring yet to my mind!!

Probably the twinkly lights, snuggled under blankets drinking hot chocolate brigade who love the dark wet cold weather 😂

Yes, heaven help them that they have to get up from festering under that blanket for months..

Oh I felt so ill with the heat!

Me too. Glad of the breeze today

Renamed · 13/05/2024 21:26

It was a nice couple of days, I felt myself tending up a bit though in case the heat just kept increasing until July, like it did a couple of years ago.

I hope the rain is occasional showers, just enough to keep pollen and dust down. A couple of my colleagues are really suffering at the moment.

Ineedaholidayyyy · 13/05/2024 21:28

Seriously you can't rely on UK weather forecasts being accurate, never mind the long forecasts. Stop looking at the weather apps and just look out out your window instead. I doubt it will be as bad as its saying and there will periods of sunshine

Clickncollect · 13/05/2024 21:28

If it makes you feel any better, I flew abroad to a location with temperatures around 12 degrees Celsius while my Essex hometown were basking in sunshine. I have now returned home to not so great weather. So I haven’t had any proper sunshine days at home since September or whenever it was!!

AlmostAJillSandwich · 13/05/2024 21:29

It got up to 26 here, and it was too warm to be outdoors comfortably. Low 20's is my preferred, and i don't mind on and off rain showers, and absolutely love when we have intense thunderstorms like we did yesterday. As long as the days are long and light, i'm in my happy place. But then i'm not a sun worshipper that enjoys sitting out in it, i find that intensely boring, and HATE how much i sweat and feel uncomfortable. Definitely the light that makes the difference to me rahter than temperature.

ToxicChristmas · 13/05/2024 21:31

I had a lovely weekend gardening and bike riding and reading my book on the sun lounger. Hope we get the warm and dry weather back soon. Definitely helps my mood!

Yes I can understand that. It's why I feel so down I think. We don't expect high temperatures in spring but there have been hardly any bright days . Light levels have been so low. Even through winter there were very few if any bright cold days with beautiful blue sky and sunshine.

I hate the sun and it hates me.

But i did enjoy the recent nice weather...

StMarieforme · 13/05/2024 21:40

It was 26 degrees in my little terraced house bedroom at night so struggled to sleep. Just a sweaty mess.
But I do like the sunshine.

OneTC · 13/05/2024 21:41

Forecasts that far ahead are total voodoo

username570009 · 13/05/2024 21:42

I honestly could of written this post.

AngeloMysterioso · 13/05/2024 21:42

It was so lovely the last few days. So nice to send my two eldest into nursery not in their winter coats. Nice to take them to the playground at the weekend without stuffing them into puddle suits and wellies. Nice to be able to get my baby out of the pram, but a blanket down under a tree in the shade and lie him down so he could kick his legs about a bit. I’m so fucking sick of the cold and rain.

Acinonyx2 · 13/05/2024 21:46

Yes - lots of gardening this weekend. Then looking at the forecast for - what seems like forever😰

Chirawehaha · 13/05/2024 21:49

I moved to the U.K. from a tropical country and I genuinely dislike the heat. My ideal temperature is around 20. So, I didn’t like the weather at all this weekend, and the forecast for the next few days works for me.

It’s not a major factor in my life, though. It’s always fascinated me just how deeply the British seem to care and have strong feelings about the weather. It’s not really something I’d encountered before I moved here.

reenlakm · 13/05/2024 21:52

Delatron · 13/05/2024 21:15

They can not forecast a week ahead accurately let alone a month! So I wouldn’t panic yet. It’s mid May, it’s usually like this. Hopefully it will perk back up again soon.

This.
And where are you based? It’s looking to be mostly sunny here and 19/20degrees this week and over the weekend. Not as warm as it has been, the odd shower, but hardly winter weather.
My tip is don’t look at bbc weather, look at met office. BBC shows rain all day if there’s even the slightest chance!

spanieleyes22 · 13/05/2024 21:53

I don't even mind if it's not that hot I'm just craving bright sun and enough warmth to take off my jumper!

My weather app says rain every day this week . More than. 50% so that usually means it does rain! No little suns for the foreseeable

At least you’re not under an evacuation alert due to a wildfire.

Jellycatspyjamas · 13/05/2024 21:59

My weather app is showing a mix of sunshine and clouds from Thursday, temps in the high teens early twenties over the weekend, which is perfect for me.

LizzieBennett73 · 13/05/2024 22:02

I'm still wearing wellies to walk the dogs. The fields are still absolutely sodden, and with mud magnet spaniels, I'm so sick of bathing their legs and underbellies every single time we go out. I actually think I'm starting to get foot rot....

I can't imagine walking in trainers ever again tbh.

BFE · 13/05/2024 22:02

I was at Badminton for 6 days…it was pissing it down on the Monday, we left on Tuesday and it was glorious sunshine literally the whole time we were there until last night. Woke up back at home this morning to more pissing rain and going from shorts and vest tops to jeans and coats again. I feel like I went abroad for those days, rather than towing the caravan an hour up the road!

Yeah, also don’t look at the app. Any chance of rain and it shows rain for the whole day. Met office shows a much clearer picture
