Nearly cried at the change in weather

I felt so much better at the end of last week with the sunshine and even this morning was happy hanging the washing out . Until the rain set in again and I checked the long term forecast and it's to stay showery and under .20 degrees until mid June now. Can't help it. Just feel really depressed. I was so happy pottering in the garden and getting a bit of sun. Anyone else struggling.

Agreed, its depressing and we are seeing it showing in peoples demeanor to one another!

beanii · 16/05/2024 17:27

I'm on anti-anxiety meds so absolutely detest the warm weather - it makes me feel REALLY poorly.

Hopefully it'll be a cool summer 🤞🤞🤞

CinnamonSwirlGirl · 16/05/2024 18:02

I’m sorry to hear that @Youcantellalotofthingsabouttheflowers . That sounds really tough 😞. Thank you for being kind to the rest of us who really struggle in the opposite way x

alrightluv · 16/05/2024 18:10

It's sunny again here now. NE England coast. I've had a walk out.

No, thank YOU. People give me such a hard time when I mention it. Thank you for understanding and I hope it’s sunny for you tomorrow ❤️

Hopefully not. Our farmers need to be able to grow crops, and other outdoor workers need decent weather to work. Buy an aircon unit.

Coffeeismyfriend1 · 16/05/2024 20:34

I’m not sure where you are but the forecast here is only for two rainy days in the next 10. It changes so regularly anyway as weather fronts change direction over the seas etc so I wouldn’t worry. We’d booked Legoland for our daughters birthday at the weekend, my husband was saying 10 days before ‘it forecasting heavy rain’ but it changed so no rain, boiling hot and the sun cracking the flag. I was more worried about the kids getting sunburn.

paddyclampofthethirdkind · 16/05/2024 22:23

It’s going to be a nice weekend!

I was glad it rained. Large garden and hosepipe broken accidentally by builders. Garden much happier and I can wait till week-end to replace hose pipe. Watering the plants which are desperate using a watering can takes ages.

It's done nothing BUT fucking rain for months. Your garden should be fine.

Madge91 · 17/05/2024 08:31

This is why I moved to Australia 9 years ago. People say oh it’s just weather, but has such an effect on my mental health!

ssd · 17/05/2024 08:40

Its gorgeous here in Glasgow. Pity I'm working inside.

reenlakm · 17/05/2024 09:18

Another gorgeous day here today!

PixieTrance89 · 17/05/2024 09:26

I'm the opposite I hate the heat and blazing sunshine, not helped by the fact I'm 31 weeks pregnant so having a hot day just feels like torture to me

LuckySantangelo35 · 17/05/2024 14:39

Yay it’s sunny and warm today 😀

Delatron · 17/05/2024 16:31

The forecast has improved for the weekend! This has made me happy as we have an outdoor festival. And that would have been miserable in the rain no matter what anyone says.

And before anyone moans it’s only going to be 20-22 degrees in the south. Nothing crazy! But much welcome.

As a farmers daughter I'm fully aware of what farmers need.

Doesn't stop me having an opinion - after all it's not like I'm the one in control - it'll do what it likes 🤣

Scotgran1 · 18/05/2024 03:36

I agree, love warm sun. It boosts my mood and helps my arthritis

Ineedaholidayyyy · 18/05/2024 18:12

Point proven, on Tuesday the forecast looked grim for the weekend where I am. Its been sunny and warm today, and it's looking the same tomorrow.

Thegreatgiginthesky · 18/05/2024 20:40

I normally love the sun but this year seem to have developed an allergy to the sun (hives whenever I go out in it) so am quite glad of the miserable weather at the moment.

paddyclampofthethirdkind · 18/05/2024 21:44

Been a lovely weekend so far and even better tomorrow!

D3LAN3Y · 18/05/2024 21:55

I try to focus on everyday as it comes and dress as it is.
My DH gets very ill in the heat (fits with low blood pressure, heat is a trigger). Luckily he works in a controlled temperature security room.
I don't like being boiling hot but prefer the duller weather as I suffer with pressure headaches and they don't seem as bad. Best time for me is after thunderstorms for some bizarre reason.
I do worry this is a particularly wet year so far though.

Btwmum23 · 19/05/2024 08:05

That’s why I don’t understand people holidaying in the UK. They spend £££ in Cornwall, or places like center park when just flying off south of Italy, Greece or Malta would be so way cheaper and better weather and food. Why they do it?

greengreyblue · 19/05/2024 08:37

It’s not always cheaper .Flights in school holiday time are so expensive.

FoxRedPuppy · 21/05/2024 08:03

RampantIvy · 15/05/2024 16:00

Do you not wear sunglasses when it is bright @FoxRedPuppy?

I do. But I’m also a glasses wearer which hands extra hassle to the sun. I wear contacts, but can’t wear them every day, or in certain circumstances (if I’m going in water). So then it’s the constant switching from one set of glasses to another. Or dealing with dry eyes from contacts. And the ones that change with the light are rubbish, they don’t go dark enough.

I agree. Reactolite glasses are rubbish. My current pair of glasses from an independent optician have magnetic shaded lenses that stick to my glasses frame. They are a game changer.
