So much negativity and sadness, so AIBU to try for a thread of small (or large) joyful things?

I’ll start: the dawn chorus is beautiful today and I have decided to adopt it as my welcome to Wednesday from the world.

I am surprisingly not hungover despite drinking several bottles on wine with a girlfriend last night

Justsomethoughts · 01/05/2024 06:04

The cherry blossom tree outside my house is still in full bloom and looks gorgeous!

AliceKyteler · 01/05/2024 06:08

I've been worried about the Canadian geese, for the first time in 20 years nobody has seen them flying over. Just been outside (beautiful skies this morning) and suddenly heard them chattering in the distance.
They have just flown directly over a sobbing woman on a hillside waving excitedly at them.

coffeewithmilk · 01/05/2024 06:10

My toddler only woke once last night compared to 4-5 times the last few weeks 🙌🏻

keiratwiceknightly · 01/05/2024 06:10

It's the first of May. The most beautiful month.

FlangeBoil · 01/05/2024 06:14

I have 2 lovely holidays coming up this month. DD and I are heading to the Norfolk coast with our best friends for the bank holiday weekend, and then next Sunday DP and I are off to Gran Canaria whilst DD goes to butlins with her dad. I'm then taking DD to Spain for our first mummy/daughter holiday in June, hoping now she's 4.5 she'll make some lasting memories! We are all very excited.

ShinyWorthKeeping · 01/05/2024 06:14

As of today I'm 30 weeks pregnant, I had a big scary bleed at around 7 weeks so I feel very lucky and grateful

CremeBruleeLove · 01/05/2024 06:19

The weather is warming up & the Tories will lose the next election 🙌

Mollyplop999 · 01/05/2024 06:21

It's not raining and the birds are singing!!!

landhill · 01/05/2024 06:23

I had the most amazing run this morning, I saw the sun rise and a stag was nearby in the field. Beautiful start to the day.

Greaterthanthesumoftheparts · 01/05/2024 06:24

It’s a bank holiday here for me and DH but not for DS who still has to go to school. So we’re off for a spa day together with massage and three course lunch in one of our favourite hotels. (We’re not in the Uk).

Lostthetastefordahlias · 01/05/2024 06:24

I am wfh and so is DH, this is rare and therefore enjoyable. And he will pick up DC and put them to bed so I could go for a swim later (I mean I probably won’t, but I could!)

tealgate · 01/05/2024 06:25

It's Beltane, the sunrise was gorgeous

Behindthescenesnow · 01/05/2024 06:28

What a lovely thread......sone of these are lovely.

Particularly the Canadian geese and lovely happy couples having spa days and enjoying their OHs being home so they can do simple things, like swim.

Reading this is what's been nice this morning (lazing in bed, scrolling MN!).

Have a lovely day everyone!

Faz469 · 01/05/2024 06:29

My 10 month old has had me up since half 4 (not feeling the joy there), but he's in a cracking mood. Babbling away while we are playing on the living room floor and watching Thomas. His smile makes even the early mornings worthwhile. Honestly, I never thought I'd love another human being this much.

IsoIsobaby20 · 01/05/2024 06:32

It's the 1st of May and May is the best month in the year for birdsong. This cheers me up every morning when they're all singing their little hearts out.

Bewareofthisonetoo · 01/05/2024 06:34

Hurray, hurray, the first of May, outdoor larkin’ starts today😋

Mammma91 · 01/05/2024 06:37

I woke up to 2 happy and healthy children. My nearly 5 year old (diagnosed autistic) has settled in beautifully with his new baby brother. We’re 5 weeks in today and he has been an absolute dream recently. I expected him to really struggle but he is besotted with him, giving him a sibling has been the best decision I ever made and I’m so grateful it hasn’t caused any unsettlement in the huge change and shift in routine. I’m so proud of him and he’s been so helpful and gentle with both his brother and me.

My garden is full of flowers! Cherry blossom, bluebells, aquilegia. It looks beautiful!

AskNotForWhomTheBellCurves · 01/05/2024 06:47

I've been living in another country for over a year, and today for the first time I'm fiiiiinally moving into a one bedroom flat with a proper kitchen and living area, instead of a series of hotel rooms or a tiny overheated studio with smelly drains. I'm so so so excited to be able to have friends over for board games and film nights and to cook fancy meals like I used to do at home ❤

SplendidRhododendronsDeirdre · 01/05/2024 06:47

The lush green everywhere is lifting my spirits. Cow parsley is just getting going along all the verges, billowing and flopping, turning mundane routes into romantic scenes.

and yes the birdsong is joyous 🥰

Poostickers · 01/05/2024 06:48

My horse shook his head and whinneyed with joy when he saw me this morning. I felt real warmth and love from him and horses are usually uppity bastards

FudgeMcFlurry · 01/05/2024 06:49

These are all lovely, what a great thread!

Just sat in bed sipping a cup of coffee (first of the day is always the best) with lab puppy snoozing/intermittently passing wind on the bed. Love the start of the day before everyone else is up.

Shoxfordian · 01/05/2024 06:50

I'm not wearing a coat (might regret it later) but it seems warmer now
Also I will be getting a coffee soon
