So much negativity and sadness, so AIBU to try for a thread of small (or large) joyful things?

I’ll start: the dawn chorus is beautiful today and I have decided to adopt it as my welcome to Wednesday from the world.

Been feeling rotten for over a week with a chest infection. So when I saw the title of the thread I did my Scrooge impersonation " Bah humbug. What is joyful about life"
Then I read the lovely posts and feel really uplifted.
Hopefully today I will get out to do a little in the garden. A beautiful blackbird has taken to following me round while I work and I love watching him. He is so fearless and confident.

My graveyard (work for the church) is looking stunning, bluebells, tulips, primroses and a prolific climbing rose that nobody knows how it's there, it "appeared" last spring (guessing someone planted it in memory of a loved one without asking). And best bit, my friendly blackbirds are nesting in the bush I can see from my desk

Giggorata · 01/05/2024 07:54

Blossom, birds, bluebells and laaaaaambs going crazy. Spring is heaven.
DDIL had a negative biopsy.
Beltane celebrations.
World Championship snooker
Looking forward to the return of the swifts

I found a £20 note in my jeans pocket. It's been through the wash & everything. Excited.

That's money laundering though Grin

I went to bed with an ache that I thought would stop me from sleeping but had a GREAT sleep and the pain seems to have totally gone. It's May, the month the cygnets will be born at our local pond so I'm going down to look at mum swan on her nest after breakfast.

myheadisaterribleplace · 01/05/2024 08:16

Its only 8 days and 4 hours until I go on holiday

ViciousCurrentBun · 01/05/2024 08:19

I saw puffins two weeks ago on a boat trip.

ErrolTheDragon · 01/05/2024 08:20

There's a chiff-chaff chiff-chaffing in my back garden somewhere. Lots of other birds but that's the most obvious and one I don't need the Merlin app for. That's giving me joy too at the moment. So many birds near here.

Lovely thread!

Yesterday I was able to wear a pair of trousers I had grown out of in the pandemic.

This morning I'm having toast and eggs with coffee at the moment and put DH's delicious homemade marmalade on one piece. I don't mind winter and although I really appreciated the sunny and dry weather of the last couple of days, I also like this reminder of a cozy winter's day.

ChatteringStarling · 01/05/2024 08:20

@philosoppee I saw a tiny cygnet yesterday! It seemed really early and unusual to see just one as well. After a mild panic, wondering what had happened to its siblings, we found the other swan sitting on its nest. I guess the parents are still working on the other eggs 🤞

grapeomelette · 01/05/2024 08:22

It's not raining!!! That alone is reason to celebrate. ☀️☀️☀️

5128gap · 01/05/2024 08:23

Yesterday afternoon the sky was blue, the sun had a little warmth in it, the blossoms were out and the light was soft. I took a client to view a local authority flat she'd been offered after nearly two years in refuges and temporary accommodation. She cried with joy. I think my hay-fever had started because I had a little sniffle myself.

Runnerduck34 · 01/05/2024 08:26

The sun is shining, the birds are singing

TeamPolin · 01/05/2024 08:34

I got a seat on the train this morning!!! 😄

Trimthehedge · 01/05/2024 08:36

I have a small, narrow terrace house which I bought 2 years ago. The council tax band is A. Last year, out of nowhere, I was informed the band would now be B. The previous owner owned it for nearly 2 decades and have not done any extension. In fact, the whole row is of the same layout and enjoys tax band A. I challenged this, got rejected. Then I Appealed. Today, after 9 months, I received an email saying it will go back to band A. So, happy news for a Wednesday!

OP thank you for this thread 😍

ivegotthisyeah · 01/05/2024 08:41

I bought some garden furniture I was putting off assembling and tackled it last night - opened the box and it was all assembled!! Over joyed!
I absolutely love it and can wait to have my morning coffee sat on it when it's warmer

Bet01 · 01/05/2024 08:42

My little whippet did a low growl of happiness and brought me a toy when I opened her bedroom door this morning. She then went to say good morning to DS, wagged her whole body frantically, and dashed outside to look for cats. She brings us so much joy, dogs are really amazing!

Womblingmerrily · 01/05/2024 08:46

I had a lie in today and now I'm sitting drinking coffee, eating a warm crisp croissant and looking out at a garden full of life and greenery.

Snoopystick · 01/05/2024 08:46

There’s a system issue at work so I’ve got less work to do 😁

SparklingPinkCat · 01/05/2024 08:53

My baby-girl Daisy in an Emma Bridgewater grocery bag. Always makes me laugh with her antics xx

This thread is fantastic timing for me, today I made the final payment on a loan we’ve been paying off for 8 years! Finally a little more breathing room in our budget!

shellyleppard · 01/05/2024 08:55

The birds have been having a huge singsong since 4am ..... absolutely beautiful sounds x
