So much negativity and sadness, so AIBU to try for a thread of small (or large) joyful things?

I’ll start: the dawn chorus is beautiful today and I have decided to adopt it as my welcome to Wednesday from the world.

@paulaparticles happy birthday!

Thegreatgiginthesky · 01/05/2024 13:21

My child with special needs and limited language pointed out that I had really big tummy muscles. Very chuffed, been doing Caroline Girvan workouts for 8 months and didn't think anyone had noticed!

paulaparticles · 01/05/2024 13:21

Thankyou and beautiful weather too 🥰

Rudicoolcat · 01/05/2024 13:26

Hubby blue lighted to hospital and had emergency open heart surgery in July last year, and today he's happily levelling out our patio in the sunshine after a beautiful lunch. Thankful for every single day since that horrible time ❤️🙏🏻

Problemzapper · 01/05/2024 13:26

I'm celebrating becoming a mum 21 years ago tomorrow 😀So on Annual leave tomorrow and, along with my Daughter and my Husband(her Dad), we are going uptown to have a nice meal before going to see 'Lion King' at the theatre (we've never seen it before but heard lots of good reviews), then Saturday night we are going to another family celebration, and Monday coming is a Bank Holiday 😀and as none of us are working Friday either it gives us a lovely 5 days long break, rain or shine I am looking forward to it 😀

MillshakePickle · 01/05/2024 13:30

I've got new leggings that fit like a bloody dream!!!

burblish · 01/05/2024 13:32

This is such a delightful thread! The ability to take joy in small things is the most wonderful gift. Today, I'm WFH and watching my freshly laundered bedlinen line-drying in the garden. Not the best thing for my hayfever, but I can't help it - I just love it when I can dry my washing outdoors. I also have a pastel de nata (utterly divine Portuguese custard tart) waiting for me to devour it. Bliss!

The lush green everywhere is lifting my spirits. Cow parsley is just getting going along all the verges, billowing and flopping, turning mundane routes into romantic scenes.

and yes the birdsong is joyous 🥰

I thought that about the lush green everywhere, then I remembered all the rain we endured to make it so lush! It's one of the pleasures of flying back to the UK after trips to hotter countries.

nicebreezer · 01/05/2024 13:40

I'm working from my sofa today so I can have the patio windows open. The birdsong has been non stop, my cat is sunbathing (in between pretending chase a squirrel). It's so lovely today

RainbowZebraWarrior · 01/05/2024 13:49

I'm having a really bad pain day today (disabled) so have been in bed.

My beautiful cat has never left my side and he makes me smile with his lovely little snuffling snores. He's the best, and takes my mind off the pain.

Here he is now

My child started a new setting this week on Monday and refused to attend again but he went this morning!!! He's been out of school for 2 years due to sen and has come so far in the 2 years and I'm so bloody proud of him! He's only 7, so still young and hit burnout very quickly from not coping in school 😞😞😞

BUT HE IS AMAZING and for him to attend a new setting is just incredible!!!!

DazedAndKerfuddled · 01/05/2024 13:56

My day so far has been sunshine and cows 😊

Met up with a potential new singing partner this morning for a try out and it went great. 😊🎶

Thanks for the post
So depressing at times on here.
The Sun is shining and it's the first of May. We have the summer and light nights to look forward too.

murasaki · 01/05/2024 14:35

I had the nicest ever chicken sandwich from the Sunday roast leftovers. Baby spinach, real butter, mayo and those crunchy onions from a tub. It made me very happy.

InMySpareTime · 01/05/2024 16:30

It's my first "sitting out in the garden" day of the year, I'm wearing a skirt I made myself and feeling the warm spring sunshine on my winter-white limbs.
All I can hear are buzzing bees and birdsong.
Life is pretty good from here.

That’s so nice. I love seeing the geese flying over.
Im happy today because I walked briskly for over 30 mins up through the woods and back again. My thighs are aching so it must have been good for them 😃 Oh and it’s my 26th wedding anniversary x

Edited

Happy anniversary 🎈 have a lovely evening (hopefully together!) x

I got the all clear from my 4th year post breast cancer mammo. I'm having a wine (before anybody says anything, mine was not impacted by alcohol). Cheers 🥂

TheFormidableMrsC · 01/05/2024 21:11

Oh and I saw a black squirrel

I made a really lovely sausage, veg and bean casserole and had enough left over to freeze for 2 more meals.

Dog also is looking very dapper post spa day with nails clipped - they even gave him a bandana!

tsmainsqueeze · 01/05/2024 21:21

I've been out for tea with my best friend , 50 years of friendship and we can still talk each others heads off !
I am so very grateful to have her in my life a constant source of mutual love trust and support.
