So much negativity and sadness, so AIBU to try for a thread of small (or large) joyful things?

I’ll start: the dawn chorus is beautiful today and I have decided to adopt it as my welcome to Wednesday from the world.

I spoke to my notoriously tight fisted boss today about a pay rise. I listed all the reasons I thought I deserved one and he agreed with me. I told him after 36 years working with him I felt slightly under appreciated and he told me I’m worth my weight in gold and agreed to a pay rise. The appreciation is almost worth more than the money! 😀

I've just given our guinea pigs a big pile of fresh hay. They get a fresh pile of hay every evening, and every evening they are completely delighted about it, and greet the arrival of the hay with lots of squeaking, popcorning (technical term known to guinea owners - they basically do little involuntary leaps of joy, like popcorn popping in a pan) and running zoomies around the cage. Then they settle down to synchronised munching.

There is something so joyous about their excitement, it's a lovely way to end the day.

I started my business recently and after a terrible first client (ghosted me after giving confusing feedback and not paying) my second client is wanting to prebook a load of sessions! Feel very proud of myself

As it's been dry at last DH has managed to give the lawn it's second cut today. It looks so much better.

And by contrast, we've had some decent rain at last in my part of Australia and the lawn here is green again at last! It, too, looks so much better.

I was in the queue for a check-out today and another till opened. I was on my way to the new till and a man pushed in front of me. I tutted loudly (default reaction) and he turned around, stepped back and said "Sorry, after you". See, tutting can work!

My hubby has just given me a jar of spearmint Chew's, a childhood favourite of mine😍😋
