Abhorrent comments made about a persons height

DistinguishedSocialCommentator · 25/04/2024 09:30

Calling someone who is below the average height, "pint-sized" is abhorrent
at the very least. A person's height is beyond the person's control and calling them "pint-sized," some may even say it's an ableist comment

Yesterday, during the PMQ's the lead was taken by the deputy heads of both Tories and Labour. Standing in for the Labour leader was Angela Rayner. She called the Tory leader, Rishi Sunak a "pint-sized leader" when she was losing the arugument

This reminds me of clowns at work who had nicknames for other people who did not fit in with their agenda. Often people will make disparaging comments about another when they feel threatened because of their own inadequacies.
Should she apologise for making these disgusting comments?

AIBU to believe these comments were necessary, inappropriate and disgustingly abhorrent.

Angela Rayner aims ‘pint-sized loser’ jibe at Rishi Sunak during PMQs

Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden countered the criticism by mocking the Labour deputy over her housing arrangements.

She doesn’t have the intellect to argue successfully without resorting to playground name calling.

RandomButtons · 25/04/2024 09:31

Clowns calling other clowns names isn’t something I can get worked up about to be perfectly honest.

DeepHedgehog · 25/04/2024 09:32

I hardly think this needs to be an AIBU. Ad hominem attacks are always inappropriate.

frankentall · 25/04/2024 09:34

Tory desparation. Hardly as if they haven't said the same or worse most days.

PoppyJM · 25/04/2024 09:36

I hadn’t seen this, but what a disgraceful thing to say to him.

I didn’t vote at the last election as I thought both options were awful. Lots of people who did vote ended up voting for the least bad option. I don’t think I will vote this time either. I don’t think the current conservative govt has done a good job. But I don’t Angela Rayner is is a good option either. I wish they would put a “none of the above” box.

MrsSkylerWhite · 25/04/2024 09:36

I don’t think she was losing the argument, Tbf.

This. And expecting anything better from antt of them is pointless.

*any

Moier · 25/04/2024 09:38

Well she's not very intelligent in my opinion.
She's all ignorant and lacking interlect.

Iwasafool · 25/04/2024 09:39

Were you affronted about the comments about Starmer's weight? Or the allegations about Rayner crossing her legs (how very dare she.) Politicians generally give as good as they get and if they can't they are probably in the wrong job.

randomchap · 25/04/2024 09:39

She was quoting from Nadine Dorres book apparently

Octonaut4Life · 25/04/2024 09:39

It's not appropriate but nor is any of the language or behavior by MPs and their mates. Check out what Lord Ashcroft said about Angela Rayner about a month ago - far worse than "pint sized" in my opinion...

Everanewbie · 25/04/2024 09:40

As long as this is the bar then Angela? You won't be all indignant when a political opponent picks on one of yours. or your colleagues physical characteristics or upbringing, will you? Just like you slaughter any tories you perceive to have done wrong, and demand they publish any tax affairs while you just do your poor little northern girl act and won't come clean on your own scandal?

This plays straight into her opponents hands with this. Working class, undignified personal attacks and hypocrite is what they'll yell. And she put it on a sixpence, just needs someone to nod it in.

Do better.

Flapearedknave · 25/04/2024 09:41

Oh, it's you again. Hi 👋🏼

Can't say I care considering all the shite that is thrown around between them all.

Just out of interest op, do you get paid by cchq for those these posts, or is it a purely voluntary role?

WarshipRocinante · 25/04/2024 09:43

But they’ve spoken like that in the House of Commons for hundreds of years. Insults have always been thrown, little digs and comments to try and get a laugh at the expense of the MPs on the other side. The House of Commons is not the place to look for integrity or moral behaviour. It’s always been like that, followed by the ridiculous jeering from the rest of the gaggle.

Catlas · 25/04/2024 09:44

Very unprofessional. But the majority are.

We need more Frank Fields (RIP Frank)

DuckDuckNo · 25/04/2024 09:44

As a pint-sized person, I can't be arsed

LunaNorth · 25/04/2024 09:45

I’m not a Tory, but Angela Rayner is a dick.

Abhorrent? He’s short. So what?

The last prime minister was a shambling haystack - no, the last but one, I was forgetting the swivel-eyed loon who was outlasted by a lettuce - and the current one is short. It’s not polite to call him names about that, but since when has the HoC been polite?

It’s not ableist, for goodness sake.
