Abhorrent comments made about a persons height

DistinguishedSocialCommentator · 25/04/2024 09:30

Calling someone who is below the average height, "pint-sized" is abhorrent
at the very least. A person's height is beyond the person's control and calling them "pint-sized," some may even say it's an ableist comment

Yesterday, during the PMQ's the lead was taken by the deputy heads of both Tories and Labour. Standing in for the Labour leader was Angela Rayner. She called the Tory leader, Rishi Sunak a "pint-sized leader" when she was losing the arugument

This reminds me of clowns at work who had nicknames for other people who did not fit in with their agenda. Often people will make disparaging comments about another when they feel threatened because of their own inadequacies.
Should she apologise for making these disgusting comments?

AIBU to believe these comments were necessary, inappropriate and disgustingly abhorrent.

Angela Rayner aims ‘pint-sized loser’ jibe at Rishi Sunak during PMQs

Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden countered the criticism by mocking the Labour deputy over her housing arrangements.

I'm sure you too understood my point and I'm standing by that.

Thats all very well and good but i don't think anyone really knows what your "point" is.......

I don't agree with using Mr Sunak's height as a term of abuse or criticism. Stick to his policies or some of the ways he has compromised to be in number 10.

Mr Sunak's policies are pint sized, as are his leadership abilities. One might say he is a pint sized PM.

Describing Rishi Sunak's policies, competence, integrity and party discipline as pint sized is excessively generous. The man is a moral midget.

Bit harsh on midgets.

True. Let's make it a mosquito.

Spreading malaria?

Spreading malaria?

Preferable to spreading hate?

pointythings · 28/04/2024 21:40

JessS1990 · 28/04/2024 21:33

Preferable to spreading hate?

It's a fair question, and I think the number of victims globally of hate and malaria are much the same. So perhaps Rishi is a new species of mosquito.

I’m not sure she was referring to his height!
but if she were then people of height get equally as mean comments

Fair comment but unfortunately, the PM/Deputy never ever answers the points made on policy etc.
Dowding had a go at Rayner over her living arrangements, all of which is subject to a Police enquiry, so she couldn't really reply and its PMQs not Opposition Questions.

Both sides use the Televised PMQs to gain headlines.... Bojo accusing Starmer of failing to prosecute Saville, quite a slur on the former DPP but strangely wasn't called abhorrent by Tory supporting posters.

katebushh · 29/04/2024 10:31

Not sure you're using the word abhorrent representatively here.

CurlewKate · 29/04/2024 15:55

@DistinguishedSocialCommentator I must have missed you coming out in defence of Starmer when Jeremy Hunt made jokes about his weight in the budget speech......

Dear friend
I was not on the forums at the time and if that was said, yes it is abhorrent as abhorrent as those nasty people calling him, the other vile names on this thread

I wonder how those people would feel if their children or GC were called those names.

That Mr Hunt is no better than Mrs Truss

HTH

We arent your friends

I notice you still haven't replied to the repeated posts from many posters about your own behaviour when you labelled Liz Truss a clown despite judging and calling other posters disgusting...

@DistinguishedSocialCommentator That was the date Jeremy Hunt made comments about Kier Starmer's weight. Interesting that you didn't comment.
