Do you shower/bath everyday

Just that really, do you shower/bath daily as an adult that (not ill or has health conditions)

I am asking this as another thread, made me curious.

YIBU- I don't shower everyday, there is no need.
YANBU- I shower everyday as I like to be clean.

I shower most days, rarely miss. I swim a couple of times a week and shower at the pool too. I’m in my 70s and rarely sweat. DH showers at least once a day, always first thing. If he’s been gardening or doing any diy, he’ll often shower a second time.

We grew up having baths twice a week if we were lucky. At least we had baths in our homes, many didn’t, even in the 1960s & 70s. There’s really no excuse nowadays for most people not to be clean. Clothes too, we had hand washing or the laundrette. Automatic washing machines are one of the best inventions ever!

This.

Thank you.

I shower every day, I'm sure I'd feel sluggish and lethargic if I didn't. If it's a gym/running day I shower twice.

RickyGervaislovesdogs · 14/04/2024 08:37

Twice. Always have - apart from when I had my c sec/have been in hospital and then it was once.

Lulu1919 · 14/04/2024 08:38

I bathe and wash hair every night before bed.
I like to get into bed all clean

Grar · 14/04/2024 08:39

Every other day. I just dont have time to shower daily or twice a day! Yes definitely shower if ive exercised but im not a smelly person/been told i smell etc

Yozzer87 · 14/04/2024 08:39

Yes, I don't see the point in just having a wash. If you're having a proper wash, face, armpits, genitals and bum, you may as well have a quick shower. It makes less mess too.

spookehtooth · 14/04/2024 08:39

About twice a week, alongside the key areas like armpits as needed while preparing to go out and regular change/wash of clothing with direct contact to the sweaty areas. Very occasionally use deodorant/anti perspirant if any last minute doubt/paranoia

Fairly active with cycling/fitness classes & gym regularly. Never had an issue with presentation

Occasionally, I've googled on this to validate/challenge my approach. I gather you can get away with less. My concerns are not seeing it, feeling it & dealing with the worst areas regularly via combo of bath & quick soap wash

Janetime · 14/04/2024 08:40

I said no, but I do most days and absolutely if going somewhere Ie office, out, out out. But I haven’t showered today, as I showered yesterday afternoon and am going to be pottering and lazing. I may or may not shower tonight and possibly wait till tomorrow morning. So if it’s a lazy weekend I sometimes let it slip.

Tumbleweed101 · 14/04/2024 08:40

Shower every morning before work. Usually have a bath over the weekend - mostly because I find them relaxing. Might occasionally skip a shower if I’m home for the day with no plans.

mondaytosunday · 14/04/2024 08:41

Voting doesn't come up on the app for me, but no. During the lockdowns I stopped showering every day and unless going out out, it's every other day (of course I will if I'm sweaty whatever). I wfh though, and other than walking the dogs I'm not going anywhere most days. if I was going to an office I'd shower every day for sure.

35965a · 14/04/2024 08:42

Every day. If it’s a sweaty day (so for maybe a week in the summer when we get a ‘heat wave’) I would have a quick second rinse as well. I don’t think that a full shower daily is essential for everyone as long as ‘pits and bits’ are cleaned daily. Showering is just much quicker, for me.

You can tell when someone hasn’t washed. I hate the smell of unwashed hair. I only do my hair every other day, on my non hair wash days I use a bit of dry shampoo to make it look and smell nice.

EveSix · 14/04/2024 08:43

No, definitely not Grin
I flannel wash every day, but don't shower or bathe more than twice a week after exercise, or perhaps 3.
Wash hair x3 / fortnight, which is ample for my hair type.
Change underwear daily and clothing as necessary.
Always clean. I don't sweat much, if at all.

RickyGervaislovesdogs · 14/04/2024 08:37

Twice. Always have - apart from when I had my c sec/have been in hospital and then it was once.

Same here - that was the exception while the wound was healing. I just had to go a wash at the sink/ feet in the bath for a week or so.

We all shower every morning. DC also shower later if they’ve been to the gym . I wash my feet in the bath in the evening - I can’t stand sweaty feet.

SpicyNoodleSoup · 14/04/2024 08:48

Twice, sometimes three times a day depending on how grim I feel.
I can't go to bed without having a shower first.
I have horses, so after I have mucked out in the morning, I stink of horse wee so have to have another shower and wash my hair.
Then if I am in the office and go to the gym at lunch, I will have another shower before heading back to my desk.

WalkingonWheels · 14/04/2024 08:51

I'm disabled, so I don't count (same old story 😏) but it is possible to not shower every day and still be clean. I shower once a week if I'm extremely bad and twice if I'm just bad. A shower lays me up for the rest of the day and the following day after that, sometimes longer if I'm in a flare. I can't waste four whole days of my week because I work full time.

My clothes are always clean, I don't exercise and to be honest, if I smell, I really don't care. I'm not putting myself out in case a random thinks I smell. Besides, someone definitely would have mentioned it if I did. My family and friends are extremely honest. Showering or bathing twice a day is a ridiculous waste of resources.

Sunnnybunny72 · 14/04/2024 08:52

MumChp · 14/04/2024 08:25

No. My skin is ruined if I shower daily. And waste of water tbh. And time as a mum.
I do wash every day with a cloth.

One cloth? For everywhere?

Createausername1970 · 14/04/2024 08:54

TheSpoonyNavyReader · 14/04/2024 08:10

Can I ask why you would not have a shower if you are not going out have a lazy day, but will if you are leaving the house?

If I am meeting people then it's good manners to turn up clean and fresh.

If I am just at home on my own or just with DH then it's more relaxed. DH is the same as me.

We are on a water meter, so the less water we use helps to keeps our water bills down and also our gas bills as we are not heating water we don't use.

I still clean my teeth every day and flush the loo. I am not a mellow yellow person.

luckylavender · 14/04/2024 08:54

Shower every day. Have a bath once at the weekend as a treat.

wingingit1987 · 14/04/2024 08:55

Yes. I’ll quite often shower in the morning and have a bath at night.

UnpickThePockets · 14/04/2024 08:56

Every day, sometimes twice if I’ve been to the gym or just want to wash the day off.

Those who say it’s dries your skin out, no it doesn’t. Not mine.

Wolfpa · 14/04/2024 08:59

Not every day, I do a quick wash in the sink in the morning.

KimberleyClark · 14/04/2024 09:02

Youcancallmeirrelevant · 14/04/2024 07:50

If i try and shower without washing my hair all the water/stesm etc gets soaked up by my hair and it goes frizzy so then it needs washing and redoing anyway

Wear a shower cap?

seeitthroughmyeyes · 14/04/2024 09:03

Most of the time twice a day.

PurpleWhirple · 14/04/2024 09:05

This. Just shower!

seeitthroughmyeyes · 14/04/2024 09:05

I have a friend who washes every other day, even on her period. It's honestly gross.
