TheSpoonyNavyReader · 14/04/2024 07:06

Just that really, do you shower/bath daily as an adult that (not ill or has health conditions)

I am asking this as another thread, made me curious.

YIBU- I don't shower everyday, there is no need.
YANBU- I shower everyday as I like to be clean.

dov told me to cut back - when i worked, at times i bathed/showered twice a day in hotter weather but at least once a day - i have dry skin and now use cooler water and unscented soaps/shampoos and creams

You also said ‘is it even a question?’ It was a very critical post, not just a reporting of your own feelings. And you’ve made another since about people’s sex habits.

Well I'm sorry if that's how you feel it's about washing I have OCD my own issues and sorry if I have offended anyone else I don't mean too sorry again

Catsmere · 15/04/2024 12:56

All these "you can smell people who haven't showered" comments got me trying to remember the last time I did actually smell BO - and that would be years ago, on a Melbourne tram on a summer afternoon when the aircon had broken down (the windows aren't made to open). Strap-hanging blokes whose armpits are at nose level for anyone shorter. That was years ago - and I can't say I've noticed anyone's BO since. I don't imagine bathing habits have changed that much in less than a decade, either.

Mumofyellows · 15/04/2024 12:59

At least once a day, often twice if I have exercised, the weather is warm, or I feel like a second shower!

Daily for me. But I can't say I've noticed if folk are not doing the same. This smell folk talk of on here ive never noticed that.

I did today in the Co op. Behind a woman with thick greasy hair that stunk. The smell is just of general lack of hygiene. Unwashed body and clothes but mainly the hair. It’s a strong greasy bitter smell

StopStartStop · 15/04/2024 13:48

At least once a day.
My bathroom had become tired, old and inefficient. My dd had a new bathroom put in for me, as a gift. Every shower reminds me of how lucky I am.

Some body odours/unwashed clothes smell really unpleasant, but that’s not usually the result of one day without a shower.

Aquarius1234 · 15/04/2024 14:07

I wash my hair once a week in the evening so I don't always shower in the morning.
Occasionally miss a day a week.

TheCatOnTheBedIsAllMineAllMine · 15/04/2024 14:20

@Seymour5 Oh deffo not one day without a shower. Probs not washed in weeks. Utterly rank. I don’t get it. Why would you want to present yourself to the world like that

Mental health issues. Poverty. Disability.

If you're sane, happy, healthy, and have access to a shower, you don't go out like that.

TheCatOnTheBedIsAllMineAllMine · 15/04/2024 14:44

I agree. This woman had two kids with her. Besides the point but that unclean smell was horrible

Partyatno10 · 15/04/2024 14:45

Yes, but I only wash my hair twice per week, so only a quick shower every morning I'm not washing my hair, takes 5 mins max. I tend to have a bath the days I'm washing my hair and exfoliate, shave, etc so takes longer!

Luxell934 · 15/04/2024 14:49

Interesting that it’s not acceptable to not shower every day but washing your hair twice a week is fine? I know personally for me if I had greasy hair it wouldn’t matter how clean my body/clothes were or how good my makeup was I’d still feel abit gross, greasy and unclean just from my hair.

Applescruffle · 15/04/2024 14:51

Once every four months. And I regularly piss myself.

Dry shampoo

Washingupdone · 15/04/2024 15:00

Although there has been a lot of rain, it takes energy to provide clean tap water. The world is short of energy that does not stop climate change. The more you use the quicker the planet will heat up and people will suffer.

mlc0 · 15/04/2024 15:06

Never known anyone to shower twice a day.

Every other day here, sometimes once a day if it's hot

In fairness, I’m both a ‘not every day if I haven’t been sweaty and I’m not going anywhere’ person and a ‘two showers a day in hot weather’ person.

MooseBreath · 15/04/2024 15:16

I don't have the time or energy to shower daily, and my hair tends to do better being washed only twice per week. Shower 2-3 times per week with a quick wash at the sink otherwise. Same with my husband, same with my children (all of whom are prone to eczema).

Tarquina · 15/04/2024 15:41

Twice a week, or more if I feel like it.

lap90 · 15/04/2024 16:41

Daily - it is less than 5 minutes.

Beezknees · 15/04/2024 16:48

Yes. I sweat a lot so it's necessary, I'm sure some less sweaty people don't need to!

Not everyone's hair goes greasy and some is damaged if washing more often
I can't wash mine daily or every other day and it takes a good 45 mins to diffuse so no time for that either

aSpanielintheworks · 15/04/2024 17:47

Top to toe, there you go - every day. Hair included.
The difference in how I feel before shower vs after shower just doesn't allow for compromise.

It starts with not having a shower one day.
