Sadly Spain is providing ample evidence of why this is all a terrible idea.

Spain’s ‘trans equality’ law is a predator’s charter

Gender self-ID has eviscerated women’s rights.

Ha same, can't be any worse 😂

Except when a 6ft woman with a beard and penis rapes a 5yr old girl in the changing rooms.

At least a pigeon doesn’t try to acquiesce a tiny proportion of the population at the expense of 51%. So possibly, a pigeon or Larry. If he’s still alive.

But, but, but Labour.

I see you OP 👀

So let me get this straight, until we get action on rape convictions we shouldn't care about rape victims being reabused by their attackers, because a loophole in self ID allowed males to access female shelters? We shouldn't care about those males who have been convicted of rape being out in prison with vulnerable females who are likely DV victims?

No pet.

We don’t have self Id, pet. Theresa May dropped her bill in 2017.

Do you? I don’t think you do. Same as you don’t see what’s right in your face. Maybe you don’t care. Because if you did, you wouldn’t enable it by voting for a party who are proud of the fact they hate women.

We don’t need self id. Any penis haver can say they are a woman and enter female spaces, races, teams etc etc etc. They don’t even need to prove that they have a GRC (though that’s a pile of crap either way).

This is why we always come back to the fact that the EA needs to be updated ref making biological sex a protected characteristic.

If you mean men say so. And any man can’t just say they’re a woman and everyone goes “Oh, right you are, then”.

So can you explain why we have biologically and legally male people in female prisons, rape crisis centres, hospital wards, sports, female only jobs, scholarships, prizes etc?

Also we might not have self ID, but my feminism does not stop at the borders of my own country, why does yours?

Here's just one example of a biological and legal man just saying they're a woman and everyone saying, ok then and being given a job reserved for females under the equality act.

And just look at the detrimental effect on raped women. Shameful.

More what aboutism again. Labour never tell anyone what Labour will do. They only ever say but but but the tories. Grrr the tories. We’re better than them. And that’s all you need to know. Well, that and we hate women. Such a grubby little party these days. Gone is the proud Labour Party of years ago.

Edited

It's not aboutism to point out what the Tory government have done in their 14 years in office @Absym. It's Politics and Current Affairs.

Labour are an unknown quantity. This Tory government is a shitshow and detrimental to women, children and the whole UK.

Rainbowshit · 31/03/2024 19:23

There are many many examples of biological and legal males without a GRC just claiming they are a woman and sports bodies say "oh ok then" and let them have access to female sports.

BIossomtoes · 31/03/2024 19:24

So the court ruled that the appointment was wrong so nobody’s saying it’s OK. 🤷‍♀️

I remember the Noughties. This was not happening then.

Under the Tories however...🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Rainbowshit · 31/03/2024 19:29

Mriduhl Wadhwa is still in position to this day. A biological and legal man taking a job reserved in law for a female.

ResisterRex · 31/03/2024 19:31

If you remember the Noughties then you'll remember who gave us the GRA. And who argued against it and predicted what is now happening, thanks to the GRA and the rushed EQA with the PC of GR.

Because the owners/managers/organisers of those institutions and events have chosen to let them in. Not because the law requires them to. The law allows for the creation of single sex spaces but it doesn’t mandate them.

If you want to create sports events that have a strictly female category you certainly can (cycling, swimming, rugby and plenty of other sports do just this). If you want to establish a shelter that only allows females, then you can do so (JKR has done exactly this).

The reason that we have so many supposedly women’s spaces that are nothing of the kind is not because of a failure of the law, but because of a failure of nerve.

Hotgirlwinter · 31/03/2024 19:44

Well it’s not going to take all that long for the young people / women who have been captured by this nonsense to find the hard way is it.

As much as it pains me to say, when it is them, their sister, their mother, their best friend being assaulted, raped, harmed then gaslight and lied to - they are going to feel very differently and really fucking stupid.

I think a lot of women (me included) didn’t really understand the implications of gender id and stood very much in the “live and let live” camp without any actual critical understanding of what it really means. The “be kind” mantra really did a number on a lot of us but now most of us are well aware of the consequences of gender ideology and can see what is coming a mile off.

I hope to god our younger generations start to cotton on quickly. Perhaps when they see their mothers being placed on mixed wards and being refused the dignity of female only spaces and being called a bigoted old fool by people who are meant to care for and protect them, they will realise what they have done

We haven't "survived the indoctrination of our children". Far from it and another area that would have been a slam dunk for the Opposition (certainly a topic where they should've been holding the government's feet to the fire), and you need only look at Wales to see what will be cemented in England under them.

The only reason we've not been completely fucked here, is the Tories realising belatedly how terrible a decision self-ID would be, and the Lords. The Lords are the unsung, key difference and the reason why - without an unencumbered second chamber - Wales and Scotland have failed to safeguard their populations. It's why we've not gone the way of most other western nations. The Dentons Playbook didn't reckon on our peers. They are the only thing that will stop the worst excesses of Labour or - worse - a Lab/Lib/Green coalition.

Indeed they have stopped the worst excesses of some Tory policies (think: protest law which was rejected as an add-on and a debate was forced), and just recently the arguments formed there against "conversion therapy" (ie transing gay kids) were head and shoulders above what we've heard in the Commons.

Every time I see a petition/post/etc. championing the removal of the House of Lords because it has no place in a democratic society, I think, "Uh, no. Thank God it's there." And not just for women's rights - their work is very varied, and counterintuitively it often seems to be focused on ordinary or underprivileged people.
