We haven't "survived the indoctrination of our children". Far from it and another area that would have been a slam dunk for the Opposition (certainly a topic where they should've been holding the government's feet to the fire), and you need only look at Wales to see what will be cemented in England under them.
The only reason we've not been completely fucked here, is the Tories realising belatedly how terrible a decision self-ID would be, and the Lords. The Lords are the unsung, key difference and the reason why - without an unencumbered second chamber - Wales and Scotland have failed to safeguard their populations. It's why we've not gone the way of most other western nations. The Dentons Playbook didn't reckon on our peers. They are the only thing that will stop the worst excesses of Labour or - worse - a Lab/Lib/Green coalition.
Indeed they have stopped the worst excesses of some Tory policies (think: protest law which was rejected as an add-on and a debate was forced), and just recently the arguments formed there against "conversion therapy" (ie transing gay kids) were head and shoulders above what we've heard in the Commons.
