Did you go to school with someone famous?

I mean someone who was famous back then, not someone who became famous more recently. Child stars, athletes, children of celebrities...

How did they act? Do you think the fame affected them?

Greg Davies was a teacher at my secondary school.

A fair few years later we had a maths teacher Dean Williams who used to be a professional basketball player.

ukku · 26/04/2024 18:01

Yes. Annie Lennox.

GoldenTrout · 26/04/2024 18:07

DS was taught by Greg Davies. All I remember about it was him talking about this very tall and slightly mad teacher with ambitions to get into comedy, which they all thought were doomed to fail.

PyongyangKipperbang · 26/04/2024 19:02

I did, very well known actor. We got on really well then he got some fame in his early twenties and turned into a right up his own arse prick. Then he grew up a bit and seems ok again now, despite being far more famous than he was then. Still lives locally with his wife and kids and there's never been any scandal around him.

This thread is totally pointless without names. The comment that’s been worth reading is finding out Margot Robbie is really 39 😀

Were you the pupil that recommended him for Teacher of the Year?

Lisa Vanderpump's children, Pandora and Max, though they weren't 'famous' back then, just incredibly rich. The kids were pretty normal. Lisa and Ken were very flashy.

Mark Lester's children, at least one of whom was also Michael Jackson's goddaughter. Afaik, they spent a fair amount of time at Neverland with him. They were also fairly normal. 🤷

I was friends with Pandora in secondary school. Used to love going to their house!

In England? I'm not sure when they went back to America. If it was England, I know the house (aka gigantic manor 😂) you mean. I've also been there, but when it belonged to the previous owners!

Yes, in England. If I remember rightly they moved back to America just before the GCSE years.

Nope, I was taught by neither of them.

What?? I'm not wasting people's time posting "I went to school with an unnamed person at unnamed school in unnamed place" which is THE WHOLE POINT of the thread 🙄

Mummadeze · 28/04/2024 07:19

The children of a very famous professional golfer at the time were in my school. They were very normal and nice and didn’t act differently to anyone else.

The initial post never asked for identifying details, just what was it like to go to school with someone famous at the the time. There are a lot of reasons why someone posting here might not want people to know which school they went to, not least because it could identify them to someone who knows them in real life when combined with other information they’ve posted on other threads (and if you think who could be bothered to do that you are luckier than my friends it has happened to).

A girl in my year at my school had had a few minor acting roles before her big break as the main character in a television drama when she was fourteen years old.

She was a quiet, pleasant sort of girl. The extent of her success at fourteen was a bit of a shock to be honest. Having said that, her acting ability at such a young age was amazing. It's only recently that I have watched that television drama again and been struck by how good she was.

She was widely predicted at the time to become a great star and was constantly in the media for a while.

She didn't quite fulfil expectations and isn't a household name, but she has had a very respectable acting career. She regularly appears in television dramas like Midsomer Murders, Endeavour and Killing Eve.

She is married to an actor who is more famous than she is.

Was it Siri Neal?

I went to school in England for a while. My school bully, who tried convincing me to kill myself on a daily basis, is now a championship football team manager. His smug face hasn’t changed a bit.
