Did you go to school with someone famous?

I mean someone who was famous back then, not someone who became famous more recently. Child stars, athletes, children of celebrities...

How did they act? Do you think the fame affected them?

There were a few milky bar kids. But having googled them, I don't recognise any of the names, so I am beginning to think it's not true.

Maybe he just had an audition and never actually got the gig, but the story persisted.

Same though there are gaps in years that I have found.

I did check Green Knowe though and I definitely knew him and competed against his family in drama competitions and has a Wikipedia page

I assumed the gaps between each Kid was that they just kept repeating the old adverts until the branding changed. Then they recruited another Kid, and did another set of adverts with new branding, until he got too old or his voice broke, then repeated those ads for the next few years until a fresh lot were needed. And repeat.

I don’t see the point of these threads unless posters name names. It’s utterly pointless just saying you were at school with the daughter of a famous actor. It could be one of many. 🤷‍♀️

Madeline637 · 20/03/2024 17:16

Not at school and not a celebrity as such but we had a family friend who turned out to be an infamous serial killer (and no we didn’t know what he was up to!) and older members of the family (distant relatives) used to knock about with the kray twins 🤷‍♀️

To be fair, the one person I know, she is famous as such but not that famous - a journalist. So if I named her, you might know who she is but you might not know her. I googled her recently and she has retrained as a teacher which is what her parents did.

Jet from gladiators. Does that count?

Eddie16 · 20/03/2024 19:55

Went to comprehensive school with Gavin Henson, (welsh rugby wanker) and his sister was in my year.
Both of them were so far up their own backsides, I'm surprised they could see!
She was a nasty piece of work, kept talking about how 'Gavin' was meeting the top rugby people etc and was a right bitch to everyone who she didnt like or said anything that wasnt complimentary about him. He wasn't much better, my brother played rugby with him and said he was a bit of a wimp with a small willy.

While she was at school?!

My friend was at drama school with Christopher Eccleston and once snogged him at a party. Does that count?

It counts with me ! Envious 😂

My nephew plays in the same junior football league as the Rooney boys, and other assorted United/City players sons.

As much of a twat as he is as a husband, Wayne is apparently lovely to all the excited little boys meeting him, whereas other players are very standoffish even when not actually recognised remotely as much as Rooney.

Daniel Osborne from TOWIE.

He was seen as the bees knees back then, I even think some teachers fancied him.

I thought Daniel Osbourne was from Corrie - showing my age 😂

Members of a group who topped the charts with Captain Sensible.

Grand Daughter of a famous American author noted for his fascism.

My friend’s sister dated Captain Sensible. We thought she was so cool

Was this later on or before ??

Rhaenys · 20/03/2024 22:55

No one famous has ever been to my old school. In fact very few famous people have come from my town. We’re talking single figures. The town Wikipedia entry mostly includes people with tenuous links to the town.

what article is this for?

For?! For?! Does it have to be FOR anything?!

It's just general chat, like most of the stuff here on MN!

JeanneBrochard · 21/03/2024 00:44

My friend was in the same class as Brian Cant’s son.

Not Russian, not Eccelstone!
I’m not going to name her directly but her father was a house hold name, and I suppose perhaps infamous even, in the UK in 90s and early 00s, and had very good reason for a bodyguard.

Ghislaine Maxwell?

I went to the same school as Alexandra Burke. She was 2 years above me! Always got the main parts in the school plays/musicals.

also, went to drama school (same class) as Belinda Owusu (known for Eastenders & Holby City) Jessica Agomba, who is a professional song writer but was in a girl band (unsuccessfully) before this and Charlie Jones, who played Ben Mitchell at some point in Eastenders. Bet you can’t guess where I grew up. Hahah!

all very humble, except Charlie. He was young though and it got to his head a little.

My guess is Islington! AB then lived in East Ham for a bit and was a friend’s neighbour

I snogged the boy who grew up to be the person inside Makka Pakka. He was in my class and was mostly a stage actor in those days. Does that count? 😂

Hahahaha yes that counts and wins the thread!

benjoin · 21/03/2024 07:07

Yes but not naming as people who also went to school with them will narrow down who I am.

They were very pleasant and it was nice to see them becoming more and more successful as they grew older

Ghislaine Maxwell?

She is 62 - probably left school in the late 70s and uni in the mid 80s if she went

Ghislaine Maxwell?

I had initially thought of Robert Maxwell as possibly the father, but he died in 1991, so doesn't fit the dates given.

SisterMichael · 21/03/2024 20:17

I was wondering Mohammed al Fayed. I don’t think his daughters are well known in comparison to Dodi.
