Hi Guys just received this from
my neighbours. We’ve gotten a new pup but there is minimal if no smell at all. She poops beside the bins so if anything they’d be smell from the bins. The gate must have only opened as it wasn’t banging previous to this message. It’s not easy to look into our garden through the fences either so it’s clear they are going out of their way. Could I get some help responding to the second text. Thanks!

All shit stinks. Are you leaving poo outside without bagging it? Put a bolt on your gate, job done.

worklifeunbalanced · 06/03/2024 14:27

Clean up the poo ASAP and problem solved!

YesThatsATurdOnTheRug · 06/03/2024 14:29

Apologise for the smell and either keep your bin elsewhere or bag the poo better. Also double check for any poo left in the garden especially near their fence. The smell of dog shit is the absolute worst.

The tone of their texts is very nice and they're clearly just concerned to make the smell go away.

This. Our neighbours huge dog shits everywhere and the smell is revolting.

Jellytotsburnmytongue · 06/03/2024 14:29

You could apologise, clean the dog poo up and make sure the gate stays shut properly.

The neighbours message sounds quite polite, they are giving you the heads up to the issue.

givemushypeasachance · 06/03/2024 14:30

Do you let your dog poo in your garden and then just leave it there without scooping/bagging it and putting it in a bin?

Talipesmum · 06/03/2024 14:30

“I’m so sorry, gate is properly closed now. And we will be picking up the dog poo much more often, huge apologies”

Zoraflora · 06/03/2024 14:30

No need to reply just take action - bag up the animal poo and put a new bolt on the side gate!

Scaffoldingisugly · 06/03/2024 14:31

Surely you just pick up after every poo if your ndn is so 'vigilant'?

DistinguishedSocialCommentator · 06/03/2024 14:31

Lovely neighbours

All poo stinks and more so on warmer days

What kind of response was you expecting OP?

Onetwobuckeroo · 06/03/2024 14:32

Just apologise, clean the dog poo up and make sure the gate stays shut properly.

It’s really not worth falling out with neighbours (who seem polite etc) over something so trivial.

MeMyCatsAndMyBooks · 06/03/2024 14:32

Stop being lazy and bag it up? It's really not difficult:

LoubieIoo · 06/03/2024 14:33

I'd apologise and sort it out. They are being polite with you. You're putting them in an awkward position.

Stoodley · 06/03/2024 14:33

Apologise and clear up the mess? You neighbours are lovely

oakleaffy · 06/03/2024 14:34

@Gab3105 Bag and bin the dog mess.
In summer it will attract maggots.
Also your dog will be stepping in it tracking shit into the house.
Bolt the side gate.
Be more responsible dog owners.

Idontjetwashthefucker · 06/03/2024 14:34

If you're not picking it up after every poo then you are the problem and should be apologising profusely!

I'd be so embarrassed to receive those texts

Nchanged89 · 06/03/2024 14:35

They don't need their eyes to smell dog shit.

Blarn · 06/03/2024 14:36

'Sorry about the gate, didn't realise. We will be much more on the ball cleaning up after the puppy.' Because no one wants to smell dog crap next to their house.

britneyisfree · 06/03/2024 14:37

Ewww

Are you expecting everyone to say don't worry about it?

TakeOnFlea · 06/03/2024 14:38

They don't need to look at dog shit to be able to smell it.

Why the fuck are you not picking it up every time? Disgusting.

OriginalUsername2 · 06/03/2024 14:38

They are telling you very politely. Apologise and pick your dog poo up.

imnotsickbutimnotwell · 06/03/2024 14:38

You should be picking it up straight away, leaving it there is revolting. We had neighbours 2 doors down who let their dogs shit all over the patio and didn’t pick it up and I could smell it on hot days 2 doors down!

Herdinggoats · 06/03/2024 14:39

The fact they have mentioned the gate as well suggests to me that they are busybodies. What is it to do with them if your gate is open?

Make sure the garden is tidy for the health of your puppy, but I’d just send back a breezy “thanks for letting me know” and leave it at that.

foodglorious · 06/03/2024 14:45

Are you not picking up your dog shit, if so shes been way nicer than i would have been.

Maddy70 · 06/03/2024 14:45

You need to be a responsible owner. It stinks and attracts flies and maggots. Pick it up and bin it immediately

Please sent a lovely apology note back and say you hadnt realised it was there and you'll be more vigilant

You also need to hose the area with soapy water so the piss smell goes too.
