Hi Guys just received this from
my neighbours. We’ve gotten a new pup but there is minimal if no smell at all. She poops beside the bins so if anything they’d be smell from the bins. The gate must have only opened as it wasn’t banging previous to this message. It’s not easy to look into our garden through the fences either so it’s clear they are going out of their way. Could I get some help responding to the second text. Thanks!

Just an update for the people that weren’t too helpful.

we pick up the poo regularly but have had a vomiting bug for two days. It’s puppy poo which you cannot smell outside and especially in the colder weather. The garden was last cleaned on Monday so there’s hardly any poo out there. My issue is that you really need to try to even see into our garden. We do not share a garden at all. There are two fences between us!!

They don't need to see it to smell it!!

SomethingUniqueThisTime · 06/03/2024 17:43

Are you perhaps confusing puppy poo with breastfed babies poo? Otherwise I’m totally at a loss why you think puppy crap doesn’t smell.

But that's clearly not the case if they've written to you twice on the topic. I'm not surprised you have bugs if your dog is wandering around in poo in the garden and bringing it in!

Their text states a shared fence so this story isn't really adding up, but they don't need to see shit to smell it so I don't know why your defence is that they must be sneaking to look in your garden.

Minymile · 06/03/2024 17:49

Given you can’t guarantee that the poo is all picked up as soon as….currently you’ve got a bug as you say for example. Don’t make promises if you cant be sure you can keep them all the time.

So I’d reply
Thanks for letting us know about the gate and the puppies/ foxes whatever poo.

We are aware.

AInightingale · 06/03/2024 17:51

A banging gate is bloody torture esp at night so I'm with them on that one....

teacrumpetsandcake · 06/03/2024 17:51

It's never OK to leave your dog shit where your neighbours have to see/ smell it. The response is to clean it up and find ways to make sure it doesn't happen again.

"It’s puppy poo which you cannot smell outside and especially in the colder weather. "
They obviously can smell it, OP. Why on earth would they make something like that up?

Kittycat333 · 06/03/2024 17:54

Be a responsible neighbour and pet owner! I would not have been as polite as your neighbour.

LoubieIoo · 06/03/2024 17:54

Shit stinks bestie

User532 · 06/03/2024 17:54

Clean it up. If it's bad now it will be unbearable in the summer months

Your vomiting bug is completely irrelevant. My partner and I were very ill at the same time during covid but guess what? We still changed our baby's nappy and did all those things that still needed doing.

Your neighbours are being very nice about it. Just apologise and get it cleaned up.

Temuaddiction · 06/03/2024 17:56

Just pick it up don't start a war over this

Parentofeanda · 06/03/2024 17:58

you shouldnt be letting your puppy poo in the shared lane at the end of the day, id not be wanting any puppy poo near my side of the house. Pick it up!!!! or hose it down, id be worried about summer if i was them

ThisHumanBean · 06/03/2024 17:58

So surely its just a case of.....
"Dear neighbour, we've had a vomiting bug for 2 days so have not been picking up the poo as often and we're very sorry about this. normal service has now resumed! Thanks for flagging up the gate - we weren't aware but will ensure it is shut properly."

TraitorsGate · 06/03/2024 18:00

Maybe your puppy can poo nearer your house away from the fence

PuppyMonkey · 06/03/2024 18:01

Maybe the puppy can poo inside the house as it doesn’t smell after all. Grin

MrsCarson · 06/03/2024 18:07

YABU, clean up the poop right away it stinks.
Our neighbours just got a second dog and their tiny patio is covered in Poop, I'm dreading the summer with all that uncleaned day after day.

Aviee · 06/03/2024 18:10

Are you sure you've got a tummy bug and not Covid? Sounds like you've lost your sense of smell.

Shoxfordian · 06/03/2024 18:12

Say
I'm sorry we've been such bad neighbours

Clean up the poo when it happens

Beautiful3 · 06/03/2024 18:22

It sounds like you're annoyed with them for mentioning it?! And don't think you should have to pick it up quickly? All poo smells. Puppies go more often than adult dogs. I pick mine up straight away, because it's gross.

BarbieDangerous · 06/03/2024 18:25

It doesn’t matter whether you believe that puppy poo doesn’t smell (lol?) your neighbour has complained not once but twice. Just have some decency and pick up the poo more often. Why would they lie about smelling poo? That makes no sense

5128gap · 06/03/2024 18:25

"Huge apologies. From now on I'll make sure to pick up straight after and disinfect. Thanks for being so nice about it."

Toomuchgoingon79 · 06/03/2024 18:26

Just pick up the poo as soon as the dog goes, it's not hard to do so! And close the gate. Simple

Oldtigernidster · 06/03/2024 18:26

You should be outside with your dog and picking up poo immediately and bagging it. Buy a small bin to store the full bags somewhere no one will smell them and take them to the nearest poo bin every day when you walk your dog.

MorningSunshineSparkles · 06/03/2024 18:32

Puppy poo stinks to the high heavens, said by a current puppy owner. YABU

ZekeZeke · 06/03/2024 18:33

Im not surprised you have a vomiting bug considering your obvious low hygiene standards in basic manners.
