Maybe I'm overacting but I don't think I am. The other day I was at a cafe with my friend (31F) and I was pouting my lips when she looked at me and said 'that reminds me' and started applying chapstick. I was a bit confused by this but then I realised what she meant and I was very angry. But then yesterday we went out again and I can't remember the conversation but I stuck my teeth out in a funny way and she looked me up and down and said in a smug voice 'I need to book my dentist appointment' and she set a reminder in her calendar. Am I overreacting or is this not on? And how do I approach it without sounding paranoid?

Stop pulling faces at her?

SantaBarbaraMonica · 03/03/2024 13:40

God, I have no idea what’s pissed you off so much unless the two of you have a very nasty dynamic. Then I’d ask why you spend time together at all?

Barrenfieldoffucks · 03/03/2024 13:40

Are you often pouting or "sticking out your teeth in a funny way'? Sounds very odd.

Anyway, it may be that the sight of your pouting lips reminded her of her own, and your teeth reminded her to sort her own. Not that there was anything wrong with yours.

Toblerbone · 03/03/2024 13:40

Sorry OP, I don't really get what she's done wrong? Surely we all do things like this (see something and it jogs our memory)?

Hermittrismegistus · 03/03/2024 13:41

Why do you keep pulling strange faces?

Varua · 03/03/2024 13:41

You sound very strange.

SirenSays · 03/03/2024 13:41

Maybe it's a gentle hint to stop pulling faces.

Iwantmyoldnameback · 03/03/2024 13:42

Are you twelve?

FictionalCharacter · 03/03/2024 13:42

Why are you sitting in a cafe pouting your lips?
Whatever the reason you did it, you were drawing attention to your lips, and that reminded her of her own lips, hence the chapstick.

Creatureofhabit87 · 03/03/2024 13:44

Why pout and poke your teeth out?! Sounds weird!! Sounds like your lips and teeth just reminded her!

FabFebHalfTerm · 03/03/2024 13:45

IF this is genuine & she's a proper friend (not gym class friend) then just ASK her if there's something wrong with your lips/teeth that she's noticed.

& FGS stop pouting & pulling faces

pensione · 03/03/2024 13:48

Why are you pouting and sticking out your teeth? It sounds annoying and like your friend wants you to stop.

Do you have to be so nasty! I don't remember why I was doing it I just was. And why would she say that to my face, even if she's thinking it. Deep down I think she has some sort of superiority complex towards me.

🤷‍♀️

SheepAndSword · 03/03/2024 13:51

OP it does sound strange

Flamingo68 · 03/03/2024 13:51

I agree, it sounds annoying and maybe she would like you to stop with the pulling faces.

betterangels · 03/03/2024 13:52

You're behaving weirdly though, maybe she's doing this to make you realise. I'd be thinking and honestly probably ask you wtf you were doing.

Well she could actually say that to my face instead of being smug about it. Why should I have to solve a puzzle to work out what she's trying to say!

Are you drunk ?

Shopper727 · 03/03/2024 13:54

It’s not like she said oh op you look bloody ridiculous do stop pulling faces I must pop chap stick on or visit the dentist. I would’ve laughed if she’d done that to me, lighten up no one is being nasty but you are the one pouting and sticking your teeth out. She’s perhaps just got a bit of a odd sense of humour

SheepAndSword · 03/03/2024 13:54

Bluepetergarden · 03/03/2024 13:54

Are you drunk ?

Teen?

Ask her direct

IncompleteSenten · 03/03/2024 13:55

I think given every poster has said the same thing, it's a fairly obvious conclusion.

Do you have facial tics that cause you to pull these faces? If so maybe ask her to be more understanding. If not, try to stop pulling them.

Dweetfidilove · 03/03/2024 13:56

🤣🤣🤣🤣. I really don’t know what to make of this, but it tickled me 🤷🏽‍♀️

Whycantiwinmillionsandsquillions · 03/03/2024 13:57

So you drew attention to your lips which made her think of her own lips.
Next you drew attention to your teeth which reminded her about her own teeth.
What next? You sitting looking at your fingernails which generates the response from her “That reminds me, I need a new nail polish.”
You sound a bit odd.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 03/03/2024 13:58

Sounds like she's trying to give you a hint you're making ridiculous looking faces and she's trying to give you a subtle hint rather than a difficult conversation?
