To be angry that Scarlet Blake is being called a woman.

Scarlet Blake has been found guilty of murder. He also tortured and killed a cat.

He is not a woman.

This shouldn't be reported as a woman's crime.

For anyone who'd like to complain:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/contact/complaints/

This can't go on. Recording this man's crime as that of a woman's will skew crime statistics. It undermines trust in the media, police, justice system. It's corrosive and mendacious and the bottom line is, its just fucking untrue. He is not a woman. Neither is the 'girlfriend' he confessed to, who left 'her' semen all over a jacket.

Definitely not a woman.

And a very unusual crime for a woman.

Misthios · 23/02/2024 15:56

Sky news website and Daily Mail referring to Blake as a "transgender woman" which is more honest than the BBC.

TheKeatingFive · 23/02/2024 15:57

I don't understand why anyone thinks this is okay. The stats will be all over the place, it's ridiculous.

Chersfrozenface · 23/02/2024 15:58

Absolutely not a woman.

The BBC lying to us again, as they did in the case of Naomi / Nathan O'Brien.

pickledandpuzzled · 23/02/2024 15:58

It’s wrong on so many levels.

It’s untrue.

It’s messing with statistics and with people’s perceptions.

Misthios · 23/02/2024 16:00

Also BBC not alone in their lies. No mention of Blake being biologically male in the ITV article either. According to them, Blake is "a woman".

PonyPatter44 · 23/02/2024 16:00

This person is biologically male. The phrase "transgender woman " is weaselly, most people (including me, TBH) don't know whether it refers to a biological male presenting as female, or a biological female presenting as male. Transwoman is a marginally clearer term.

This crime wasn't committed by a woman and its dishonest to imply that it was. At least we know that Scarlet won't be going to a womens prison.

It's something, I suppose. But how many people understand that 'transgender woman' means 'man'?

'The results of our polling show that to avoid confusion and misunderstanding, journalists and others need to spell out clearly what sex of person is being referred to, in any context where sex matters.'

Clarity matters: how placating lobbyists obscures public understanding of sex and gender - Murray Blackburn Mackenzie

This blog describes the results of polling we commissioned to test how well people understand what the terms ‘transgender woman’ and ‘trans woman’ tell them about a person’s sex. The findings show that there is substantial confusion about these terms,...

Could the people who think you are being unreasonable explain why ?
do we know if he will be going to a men's prison ? Or will women have to put up with him ?

ArabellaScott · 23/02/2024 16:03

I'm not sure what prison he will go to yet. Sentencing is on Monday. His crime, while obviously violent, wasn't committed against a woman, so I am not sure.

Helleofabore · 23/02/2024 16:05

Definitely not unreasonable OP. These are not women's crimes and these should not be reported as being our crimes.

Pinkfrlls · 23/02/2024 16:07

Who cares what gender they are? I'm horrified by that cruel sadistic behaviour. It wouldn't be any better if it was done by a person of a different gender.

The woman who is locked in a cell with him will probably care.

So you think we shouldn't record the sex of criminals at all? Do you think he should go to a woman's prison?

Have complained (yet again) about their factually inaccurate and ideologically captured reporting on the trans issue.

Agreed.

Just because he might have had 'procedures' that doesn't turn him into a woman. He was a male when he was born. He is still a man.

EdinGirl · 23/02/2024 16:09

The statistics being messed with is a HUGE issue.

Because we (historically) could see how disproportionately men attack women (sexually or physically) and how women usually aren't carrying out these kinds of crimes.

If they start saying that trans women are women and include them as such in the stats, it will start to even up the gap.

This then will begin to suppress and silence the truth and give everyone from a dickhead in the pub, to our government, the right to say "pish posh" about what women face and start to turn women into the villains also.

It's just fuel for the red pill incels to say "Women Do It Too" 🤢

You'd probably be horrified if you had a friend or family member in prison who would be expected to share a cell, shower and communal space with this "woman" if held in the female estate.

Or if you're a researcher trying to collate meaningful statistics on violent crime, and this is filed under crimes committed by women.

PonyPatter44 · 23/02/2024 16:09

Scarlet has been on remand in a men's prison, and will serve his sentence in the men's estate. This won't be up for debate. Prison guidelines changed last year, and violent male offenders are not considered for the female estate at all.

Thank fuck for that. Of course, Scotland's rules are another matter.

I suggest complaining to the BBC etc about the inaccuracy of their reporting. This matters, this is not a woman’s crime.

Totallymessed · 23/02/2024 16:12

I have complained to the BBC, and also had a look on the Ofcom website- apparently you have to have gone through the entire BBC complaints process before you can complain to them. So I'll just have to see how the BBC respond, I guess.

Froodwithatowel · 23/02/2024 16:12

Let's face it, everyone reads about the arrest and the alleged crime and automatically goes 'that'll be a bloke'. The picture these days just confirms it.

I thought it was supposed to be all 'gender' over sex and men are women because of woman gender. Almost no women do this kind of crime . This is a very very man gendered male.

I care! I wouldn't want to be banged up with him and I wouldn't want him in a woman's refuge.

Who wouldn't care?
