To think King Charles would do more for awareness by saying which cancer he has

Why all the secrecy? Everyone knows where the prostate is so is fully aware of the initial investigations - if he is happy to share that very personal info, why not say what cancer? It would surely be more useful for him to say ‘it’s this, I had symptoms but ignored them..’

Same as what the Queen died of and I think Kate’s missed a trick in not making herself more human by sharing a little more around the abdo surgery. Childbirth does all kinds of shit to women’s bodies, it seems a good subject to say ‘happens to us all’

Is there some royal protocol that means they can’t say?

Why does Kate have to make herself seem more human to appease you? She is human.

People have a right to medical privacy.

Hiphopopotamonster · 06/02/2024 21:08

What ‘awareness’ do people really need about cancer at this point. If he comes out and says it was bowel cancer (for example) how does that help anyone. Or does he need to give a list of his symptoms? Side effects from treatment for ‘awareness’? FFS we all know cancer exists and we all know different types of cancer exist. I’m not sure how much awareness we need at this point.

Janetime · 06/02/2024 21:08

God people are so nosey, it’s none of your business his medical info. And how would Kate be more human if she told folk her private medical info, what’s wrong with you.

ConciseQueen · 06/02/2024 21:08

Leave them the privacy of their own actual bodies, OP

QueenOfHiraeth · 06/02/2024 21:09

He is entitled to some privacy and I fail to see why disclosing the details of his cancer would make a difference

TheMarzipanDildo · 06/02/2024 21:09

I don’t think he even needed to tell us he had cancer tbh

cakeorwine · 06/02/2024 21:10

It was interesting to hear the press say he had raised awareness by saying people should go the GP if they have symptoms.

But what symptoms?

He does have medical privacy obviously - but cancers come in so many forms and with so many symptoms

Janetime · 06/02/2024 21:10

It’s shocking some people actually thunk they’ve a right to know their private medical info. Well they just want to know and dress it up as something altruistic to thr population. Is it hell. The royals are people. They perform a role. That doesn’t include having no privacy and telling gossip their medical issues.

This pretty much sums it up. I mean fgs

Nofilteritwonthelp · 06/02/2024 21:11

I actually agree with this. I thi m they be better to say nothing, instead of something and basically create hype and speculation. I also agree you're not creating awareness if it's all secretive and vague

They have to say something , as they are taking a few months off. They need to explain why they are not working and I suspect you know this. You’re just gagging to know what’s wrong with them. At least own it,

themusingsofaninsomniac · 06/02/2024 21:12

Agree with everyone else. Would you like the whole world knowing and having an opinion on your personal medical conditions and every detail about your health?

They have every right to have privacy when so much of their lives are in the public eye.

Datafan55 · 06/02/2024 21:12

At some point it all blurs together, so it might be rather hard to say 'I got x symptom, and it means I've got this'. I'm sure we've all got all sorts of hidden lumps that might be accidentally found... Or not.
Plus it's been about a day for Charles, so I'm guessing he might still be reeling.

Shivermetimbers13 · 06/02/2024 21:12

I wouldn't want the whole world speculating on my diagnosis. Why should Charles? He's entitled to his privacy.

LadyWithLapdog · 06/02/2024 21:12

I thought it was an incidental finding during other investigations. So he might not have had any symptoms anyway. I don’t think he needs to share. Give it a few years and it’ll all come out anyway.

He was probably concerned about Oprah, Scobie and friends gobbing off.

Chitterchatterer · 06/02/2024 21:13

It's probably colon cancer, hence the secrecy.

Alicewinn · 06/02/2024 21:13

Agree with you, yes if you’re going to share, share properly

Redglitter · 06/02/2024 21:13

Hes literally only been diagnosed. At this stage he didn't need to say anything. He's probably still trying to get his head round it & take in what the doctors have said

He might say more further down the line. He might not. One way or another its his choice

MiaGee · 06/02/2024 21:14

Why are people so nosey

DG1749 · 06/02/2024 21:14

FWIW I agree with you, but I can imagine a lot of speculation about survival rates for various different kinds of cancer, if we know what it was, so I do get that.

The PoW should 100% have said what her surgery was, assuming it was something routine; eg. could have said hysterectomy without sharing any details of her actual condition. The fact it was the same day that the King announced his prostate issues make it very noticeable that she didn't.

Chitterchatterer · 06/02/2024 21:13

Why would that be more secret?

eggbot · 06/02/2024 21:14

It would surely be more useful for him to say ‘it’s this, I had symptoms but ignored them..’ maybe he hasn't had symptoms and hasn't ignored them! Jeez. Let the man have some sort of privacy.

existentialpain · 06/02/2024 21:14

Everyone has a right to privacy. They are not obliged to share anything with the public that they don't want to.

SweetBirdsong · 06/02/2024 21:14

What a ludicrous thing to suggest! @DontLeanOnTheKeyboard Hmm
