To think King Charles would do more for awareness by saying which cancer he has

DontLeanOnTheKeyboard · 06/02/2024 21:05

Why all the secrecy? Everyone knows where the prostate is so is fully aware of the initial investigations - if he is happy to share that very personal info, why not say what cancer? It would surely be more useful for him to say ‘it’s this, I had symptoms but ignored them..’

Same as what the Queen died of and I think Kate’s missed a trick in not making herself more human by sharing a little more around the abdo surgery. Childbirth does all kinds of shit to women’s bodies, it seems a good subject to say ‘happens to us all’

Is there some royal protocol that means they can’t say?

Here we go! Criticised already. Charles can’t win - but his health is a private issue.

Mirabai · 06/02/2024 23:37

I don’t like KC but he’s entitled to his privacy. I think it will probably prompt wild speculation and he’ll end up spilling to shut it down.

LOL!! Yes the life of the King of England whose personal fortune is estimated at £1.8bn, must be dreadful

Not a penny of that wealth has stopped him from getting cancer, and while I agree wealth can get you better treatment, plenty of extremely rich people have died of cancer because money only does so much.

That’s not relevant Goblin

I’m no fan of the royals but they’re entitled to medical privacy. I’m sure none of us would like our medical info plastered all over the papers and internet. And they’d have no control over what is written.

DoggusDomesticus · 06/02/2024 23:54

JFC, they may be public figures, but KCIII and the PoW are also private individuals.
They do not have to reveal their private medical information just to satisfy your ghoulish, gossip-hungry nosiness.

Foxyaus · 07/02/2024 00:03

Can't you just give the poor bastard five minutes to adjust to the fact that he has cancer????? FFS, you don't need to know!

OneTC · 07/02/2024 00:15

Jesus Christ

StarTwirl · 07/02/2024 00:35

It's got fuck all to do with anyone but him

It's medical

It's private

It's his body

PeopleAreWeird · 07/02/2024 00:43

Why do people think they have the right to know someone’s personal health issues !!!

Royalty or not - None of your damn business !

Manyandyoucanwalkover · 07/02/2024 00:43

The royals live an extremely privileged life. With privilege comes responsibility. It would be the right thing to do to share his diagnosis in order to raise awareness. He will get the very best treatment available and he won’t have to wait a single day.

allmyliesaretrue · 07/02/2024 01:03

I haven't RTFT but I am disgusted by all the voyeurs who seem to think that they are entitled to know all the RF's private business. You should be ashamed of yourselves! So much of their lives is in the public eye. Aren't they allowed any privacy at all?!

Absolute knob head you ate. Why the heck should he? For a load of voyeurs to watch with baited breath and knock him down at every turn? Why did he choose that treatment over another? Why did he have it done there? He owes it to us to explain every bit... nope. He's a human being and deserves his privacy now.

ThomasinaLivesHere · 07/02/2024 01:10

I agree with the majority that he’s entitled to medical privacy. However I also don’t get the praise that this raises awareness as we aren’t getting any info on the specific cancer unlike the enlarged prostate which apparently has lead to more men getting that checked out.

Purplecatshopaholic · 06/02/2024 21:16

Agree they didn’t need to mention it at all. Why mention cancer then not what kind? It’s not like the press will just leave it there is it, we’ll never hear the end of it now!

How should they have explained KC’s absence from royal duties? You might not notice if he didn’t show up to this or that ribbon cutting or charity event but the press who follow his every move most certainly would.

RobertaFirmino · 07/02/2024 01:25

Charlie has only recently found out he has cancer. It will be a dreadful shock so the chances are he just needs time to process things before he makes any further statements. In any case, it is none of our business really.
As for Kate, perhaps she's had an 'embarrassing' operation and has no wish to share. Again, none of our business.

Spudthespanner · 07/02/2024 01:44

The title of this thread alone is gobsmackingly distasteful.

I don't give a damn who you're talking about- no one owes information about their private life in the name of raising awareness.

cauliflowerqueen · 07/02/2024 01:53

Personally, I'd prefer not to have to know. It's not as though we never hear about all the different kinds that exist. In fact, it's difficult to avoid hearing about it every time we turn around.

ThisMama1 · 07/02/2024 02:28

Imagine being told you have cancer, having to tell your kids & your grandkids, having to deal with the actual fcking trauma that cancer is to them be told you need to tell more people about what specifically you’re dealing with. Just no. The things that go through your head when you’re dealing with a diagnosis & everything that goes along with it, the last thing you need is sharing all the details with a load of strangers. Let him deal with the fact he’s got a life changing, potentially life limiting disease. Let alone he’s the king & has so much to deal with himself in potentially making arrangements for if the worse should happen. People are weird, really fcking weird

Topseyt123 · 07/02/2024 02:49

Some things are just private, not for the consumption of nosey parkers.

He's revealed all that he needs to reveal or is comfortable revealing. He had to say something because the media and the public would definitely notice if he just suddenly disappeared from public life. Same goes for the Princess of Wales.

I bet Lizzy would have told us

But she didn't. The fact she had cancer wasn't disclosed until after her death

Manyandyoucanwalkover · 07/02/2024 03:11

Victoria Derbyshire shared her cancer journey. It was inspiring and raised a lot of awareness about dealing with breast cancer. The same with Deborah James and bowel cancer. This is an opportunity for our monarch to give something back to the people of our country.

To me the royal protocol is called privacy, and if people need to know peoples private information then maybe they need to get a life?

drooling at every bit of celebrity gossip is plain weird, eg. 'oh Kate uses a certain brand of tampons' good grief who needs to know

Cancer "journey" forsooth. Pass me the sick bag, Alice.
