Why the hell are GMB gaslighting women with this stuff?

https://twitter.com/GMB/status/1749329378352275568

This is an enormous male-bodied person - even larger than the interviewing man!

I didn't know that. I would love to know if that is right. If it is, the earlier poster was right to exhort MN to be bolder.

We lost a whole load of threads a while back about a certain person who had gone after Mumsnet before. I'll not name them or this thread will go poof again.

Dantedisciple · 23/01/2024 21:49

Interesting. I must stop being so naive.

It's golf. Gender doesn't confer any advantage either way.

Of course it does. Women can't swing as fast or with the same power as men on average.

Why do you think there are women's golf tournaments, in that case?

Of course sex confers advantage.

underneaththeash · 23/01/2024 08:58

I'm not sure why he's worried about his safety either...he's massive (and a big cheat).

Why want it moved to FWR? Afraid it will reach a wider audience who will get very very cross?

Stronger, longer arms, loft. Longer heavier golf clubs. You do realize women and men's tournaments differ in the length of the holes? Ever wonder why the women's are shorter? Could if possibly be they can't hit a ball as far?

TheKeatingFive · 23/01/2024 22:05

'Gender' doesn't. Sex most certainly does.

Surely most people can see this isn’t the case

It's golf. Gender doesn't confer any advantage either way.

Then why is it segregated by sex if there’s no difference in performance? Why not shoe size, or hair colour, or race? Why sex?

TimeFlysWhenYoureHavingRum · 23/01/2024 21:51

It's golf. Gender doesn't confer any advantage either way.

Of course gender makes no difference so all sports should be divided by sex & include as many genders as people can make up.

But sex makes a huge difference to our physical bodies & therefore sport.

surely everyone who grew up human knows this??? Unless maybe you never had contact with anyone of the opposite sex...

This thread is disgusting, and as @Overcooker said, dripping with hate. It’s clear, as usual, that many of you have never met a trans woman and don’t know what you’re talking about.

How is it disgusting? Where is this dripping with hate?

Many of us know, work with, are married to, or have family members that are transgender. And we do know what we are talking about. Do you?

What do you think about this transwoman taking medals and places from women in women's golf ? Do let us know.

Men stealing from women is disgusting as is other people righteously justifying the theft.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 23/01/2024 23:12

I think we'd need to meet a male who likes cheating in women's golf tournaments to truly understand, don't you think?

I’ve met a few. Perfectly pleasant people but still male, and funnily enough all still regained male socialised traits (very patronising and used sexist language). Why do people think meeting a TW will change our views on very basic science? Like they’re all collectively such amazing inspirational humans that we will self flagellate with regret. A TW could find a cure for cancer I’d still consider them male

I find it disgusting and hateful when males are allowed to trample all over the rights of women and girls and people are apologists for them.

Roiesin57 · 24/01/2024 01:35

You can dress the way you want, have body parts added or removed, but you're still the sex you were born. I'm not saying that women are delicate little flowers, of course they're not. The reason we've had sports divided into male and female is because men at the top of their game are naturally physically bigger and stronger than women. Changing from a man to a woman does not change that.
The trans women will still have a physical advantage over the women who were physically born a woman. That does not make it a level playing field. It is disgusting that these men, who can't quite cut it in the male world of sport, can compete against women who have worked their whole lives to excel at their sport. They're cheats.

TheKeatingFive · 24/01/2024 03:20

Exactly. I find this really puzzling too.

I've known men who say they are women since the late 1980's.

I don't hate them, I just don't think they are women.

This! I’ve worked with several TW over the years. They’re most obviously & definitely men 🤷🏻‍♀️

I've met quite a few men who are pretending to be women,I've known one of them for most of my life.

you want to look at mixed 4s then. The tee placement for the male and the female participants is different to account for the power that men have in their drive, among other things.
