Drink wine in the bath that is? Watching a film and the main character just had a glass of red wine whilst having a bath.

I'm 50 and I think I gave it a go once maybe 20 years ago, decided that the combo of alcohol and a hot bath was terrible and have never done it since.

YANBU: of course no one does this other than in films, what a terrible idea

YABU: wine in the bath is one of the main joys in life, you're missing out you pleb

Tried it. I just get too hot and uncomfortable and quickly want to get out again

HunterHearstHelmsley · 11/01/2024 20:01

I love a wine in the bath. Book, candles, bubbles and wine!

A friend enjoys a WKD and a scroll through her socials.

LisaD1 · 11/01/2024 20:01

I love wine but not in the bath. I do sometimes take a tea up with me.

Sparklybanana · 11/01/2024 20:02

Yes it felt a bit forced when I did it. Perhaps my bathroom needed to be more spa like and less play school though.

Youcannotbeseriousreally · 11/01/2024 20:02

Wine and book in the bath are the best thing! Such a lovely way to relax

Grapefruitstars · 11/01/2024 20:02

Wine makes me pee and I can't pee in the bath.

BogRollBOGOF · 11/01/2024 20:03

It's been known on occasions.

I do need a pint of cold water to replace lost fluids from a long, hot bath though.

SleepingBeautySnores · 11/01/2024 20:03

From the time I had my first child, I would leave my DH to care for them while I spent an hour in the bath with a book and a glass of wine. This went on throughout their entire childhood, and has only stopped in recent years as due to disability I can no longer get in and out of the bath. Sadly my book gets soggy and the wine diluted when I try and do it in the shower!😂

SpacePotato · 11/01/2024 20:04

I hate baths. Don't drink wine or have candles in the bathroom.

Much prefer a quick shower.

PanickingAgainNow · 11/01/2024 20:04

Grapefruitstars · 11/01/2024 20:02

Wine makes me pee and I can't pee in the bath.

why not, it gets diluted so it’s fine 😀

WandaWonder · 11/01/2024 20:04

I tired years ago was terrible, I can't stand the thought of cooking while drinking wine as I only drink wine when I can relax so after dinner when everything is done

Wellhellooooodear · 11/01/2024 20:05

I'd never have a bath without a glass of wine!

takealettermsjones · 11/01/2024 20:06

Baths are pointless without it tbh.

CityKity · 11/01/2024 20:07

Absolutely I do! My bath is my daily treat after the baby is down for the night. I don’t drink wine every night but probably once a week will have a bath with a glass of wine, chocolate, bubbles, candles and a book/show to watch. As a new mum it’s basically my only joy in life 😅 (baby aside etc)

SecondUsername4me · 11/01/2024 20:08

I love a wine in the bath. What I don't love is our scruffy bathroom filled with kids toys. So it never really feels right.

Once dh and I stayed in a hotel with a massive round bath built for two, we pulled a little table over and put champagne on ice and a box of chocolates on it and sat for well over an hour in the tub drinking and talking.

It was proper "rom com" scene - long chats about childhood and fizz and bubbles, and it was lush. But I don't get out much.

OldBeyondMyYears · 11/01/2024 20:10

I don't like baths...only ever have one if I'm staying somewhere without a shower. But...if I had to have one I would need wine or a G&T to make it bearable!

PeloMom · 11/01/2024 20:11

I love a glass of ice cold white in a hot water tub (and a book)

DuchessPotato · 11/01/2024 20:11

I like the idea of it but in reality usually take a nice cold bottle of fizzy water instead!

Thelootllama · 11/01/2024 20:11

I wouldn't have a drink if I was washing my hair in the bath. But if I want a nice relax, a drink in the bath is nice.

I remember eating a pot noodle in the bath once.

TinyYellow · 11/01/2024 20:12

I have a friend that raves about doing this. She genuinely loves it and banged on about it so much I tried it, then realised why I never bothered before. Baths are either too cold for me to get into comfortably or too hot to sit in for more than five minutes.

Growlybear83 · 11/01/2024 20:12

I always used to drink a cup of tea in the bath, and depending on the time of day, I used to have a bacon sandwich too. It's been a very long time since I've had a bath now as it's so much quicker and easier to have a shower. 😆

Lovingitallnow · 11/01/2024 20:13

For me the biggest issue, I'd alone in the house is, do I bring the bottle with me and risk it getting warm, or do I take the risk of running down the stairs soaking in a towel and run the risk of breaking my neck.

PurpleBugz · 11/01/2024 20:13

Nah not for me. A cup of tea in the shower way better lol

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 11/01/2024 20:14

Nope. I like books, wine and candles, but not in the bath. I don't want any entertainment or refreshments when I'm in the bath!

How hot is your bath if you're cooking 😉
