Drink wine in the bath that is? Watching a film and the main character just had a glass of red wine whilst having a bath.

I'm 50 and I think I gave it a go once maybe 20 years ago, decided that the combo of alcohol and a hot bath was terrible and have never done it since.

YANBU: of course no one does this other than in films, what a terrible idea

YABU: wine in the bath is one of the main joys in life, you're missing out you pleb

I have. But I don't really like baths or drink wine unless I'm socialising. So probably only once or twice. I do like a glass in an outdoor jacuzzi on a spa day though, and by the pool on holiday.

Mumaway · 11/01/2024 20:53

Bath as hot and deep as I can manage, cold white wine in a stemless glass, movie on the laptop balanced on the loo.

RampantIvy · 11/01/2024 20:57

movie on the laptop balanced on the loo.

I can't do that. My glasses would steam up Sad
And I can't see well enough without them.

I always have a glass of wine in the bath. One of DH's many excellent points is that at the sound of the bath running he will appear in the bath room to deliver me a glass without me having to request it.

What is the opposite of LTB? How did you train him to do this and how can I get my DH to do it?

I think I love your husband! 🤣

GrumpyMiddleAgedCow · 11/01/2024 20:58

Only once have I enjoyed it (tried a couple of times) in an overnight I booked for DH birthday room with a double jacuzzi bath with built in TV…..

I know where a lot of minds would go but reality - just me in the bath watching grand designs and somehow managed to talk DH into bringing me a cold glass of bubbles while I done it (then immediately leave), who said romance is dead? It was bloody amazing

FurballFrenzy · 11/01/2024 20:58

Wine not so much, but after a long shift I used to occasionally take a cold bottle of beer in the bath with me. Just one. Man that was good.

Paw2024 · 11/01/2024 21:01

Cup of tea in the bath for me

That sounds so very hot.

DaveWatts · 11/01/2024 21:03

My Sunday morning treat is a cup of coffee in the bath whilst reading the Spectator.

How do you socialise while having a bath????

19lottie82 · 11/01/2024 21:07

I do like a shower beer.

Just remembered that when I was a scummy student I would also sometimes smoke in the bath Blush

They were the best days, I used to do this too 😳

jackstini · 11/01/2024 21:09

Most times!
And a good book
Sometimes some roasted nuts...

Except during dry January - had Nozecco tonight!

theduchessofspork · 11/01/2024 21:10

I love a glass of wine in the bath

Film on the iPad or podcast

Occasionally I eat dinner in there too, usually pasta.

A friend eats breakfast in the bath at weekends.

aperolspritzbasicbitch · 11/01/2024 21:11

A bath without a drink is not for me.

I did once knock a glass of gin in to the bath, which meant I had to fish out the berries that had been in the bath, clean out the bath and then rerun it. That put a downer on it.

I also enjoy a cuppa in the bath.

Wexone · 11/01/2024 21:11

Love love my bath. have one about three times a week. buy my magazines to read ir my book. stick tablet on with friends on Netflix in background. half an hour to 40 mins pure heat abd bliss. always sleep so much better after a bath. love my wine too but not in the bath.

frogswimming · 11/01/2024 21:12

I don't drink unless I'm socialising usually. I don't socialise in the bath Wink

CheerfulBunny · 11/01/2024 21:13

It's lush! Although a pint of Guinness and some chocolate is even better 😉

Can I recommend an overbath tray? You can get them with a holder for your movie ipad, and a place for phone, wine glass, snacks. You can easily spend all evening in there. I do.

Trisolaris · 11/01/2024 21:15

Buck’s Fizz in the bath is a lovely winter treat

blackpanth · 11/01/2024 21:15

Love a bubbly bath and a glass of wine

I am impressed by your cleaning enthusiasm. I have knocked many drinks in the bath and I just request a refill from him downstairs and carry on. No issues with sharing my bath water with half a slice of lemon and a rapidly diminishing ice cube.

StamppotAndGravy · 11/01/2024 21:16

I met someone today who drinks coffee in the shower as a treat. No, I can't work it out either

JaffavsCookie · 11/01/2024 21:17

I love wine and a book in the bath. It helps that i drink red, and our wine glasses have a long enough stem that they float nicely, keeping the wine warm.
i do also often fall asleep in the bath, in fact I think the best bits of my sleep are in the bath ( until I wake up and the water is cold 😳)

kierenthecommunity · 11/01/2024 21:19

I had a G&T in the bath tonight, but normally like a glass of wine and a little bowl of crisps. I have one of those racks that goes across the bath for it.

I also have a face mask but it has to be a clay/cream one rather than a sheet one. That gets in the way when drinking
