Drink wine in the bath that is? Watching a film and the main character just had a glass of red wine whilst having a bath.

I'm 50 and I think I gave it a go once maybe 20 years ago, decided that the combo of alcohol and a hot bath was terrible and have never done it since.

YANBU: of course no one does this other than in films, what a terrible idea

YABU: wine in the bath is one of the main joys in life, you're missing out you pleb

Winter time. Insanely hot bath. Window open with cold breeze. Glass of wine.

Chef kiss.

aperolspritzbasicbitch · 11/01/2024 21:22

@theduchessofspork ah see, lemon I would have done the same. Would even have gone so far as to assume I was getting some kind of cleansing benefit from them.
But the berries were grossing me out, and I'd frozen them so they were already a bit on the mushy side before even hitting the water

TeenLifeMum · 11/01/2024 21:22

I go for tea or gin I’m the bath.

Unicornsunited123 · 11/01/2024 21:23

My husband would have 3 course meal in there if I allowed him! I say allowed like he has to get my permission for everything lol he doesn't! Just to b clear!

Tummytroubles22 · 11/01/2024 21:23

I love wine and baths but not together. I like to lay back in the bath and I can’t sip laying down so it’s not for me.

PinkSkiesAtNight · 11/01/2024 21:24

I've done it tonight! Candles, low lights, either a book or a film on my laptop, and a glass of wine! I don't do it often, but when I do...love it.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 11/01/2024 20:01

I love a wine in the bath. Book, candles, bubbles and wine!

A friend enjoys a WKD and a scroll through her socials.

I don’t get it. Wouldn’t you be more comfortable with your book, candles and wine wrapped up cosily on a squishy sofa or bed than in a hard bath?

MadCatLady27 · 11/01/2024 21:25

I find wine revolting at any time and location but I do like a tea in the bath 😁

Nutellaonall · 11/01/2024 21:25

Large Diet Coke with ice is best. Last time I tried wine I went a bit faint.

Waitingfor5pm · 11/01/2024 21:26

I like a cuppa in the shower 🚿 maybe in the minority there 😂

Horriblewoman · 11/01/2024 21:27

Love wine, hate baths.

and shower wine isn’t really a thing unfortunately

helpfulperson · 11/01/2024 21:28

Yup, it's one of the things I really miss in Dry January.

Doggymummar · 11/01/2024 21:28

It must be over a decade since I had a bath, it won't work so we'll in the shower. But no I don't like idea. One of my exes used to smoke in the bath, disgusting

Getthethrowonthesofa · 11/01/2024 21:29

I’d not eat in the bath, for some reason I find that a bit off, but I’m all for a glass of wine relaxing in one., in fact I find a bath dull without one.

im not a bath person, but we had a lovely roll top bath installed. So I did the whole thing, candles, glass of wine, low lights, music on, and really liked it.

i then did it every night for a week, decided I was going to end up a right alkie , so stopped, and haven’t been in it since. 😂

OnlyCorrect · 11/01/2024 21:29

My baths are boiling hot so I prefer icy drinks: a large G&T and a silly novel are ideal.

starfishmummy · 11/01/2024 21:29

I remember trying it. Candles, soft music, book, wine. I was totally bored after 2 minutes and got out.

On the other hand I've gone for a quick bath and been there an hour later with multiple hot water top ups!

Wibblebits · 11/01/2024 21:32

Makes me feel all peculiar just not comfortable

rainbowbee · 11/01/2024 21:32

When I had a bathtub... I would bring a good whiskey with two ice cubes. A cold glass of water on the side. The window just cracked open a little. And I would also have one illicit cigarette looking up into the steam. And Vivaldi in the background.
Sometimes I really miss that (although I'll never smoke again).

catelynjane · 11/01/2024 21:33

I don't really like drinking in the bath but I have been known to have a sandwich in the bath after a long day 😂

dancinginthewind · 11/01/2024 21:34

Getting one of those bath tray things has totally transformed the whole glass of wine in the bath experience. Every Friday, I finish work, do an exercise class, have a really quick tea (often beans on toast) and then get in the bath with a book and a glass of wine. By the end of that, work is a distant memory and I'm ready for the weekend. The only problem is that we recently got a new, longer bath and I can no longer reach the taps with my toes to add more hot water. Sitting up and stretching over to them is such an effort!

Echobelly · 11/01/2024 21:38

Not often but I've been known to do it - it's mainly rare because I usually bathe in the morning, which is a bit early for wine!

Decafflatteplease · 11/01/2024 21:38

Mines just running now 🥰

Hot bath, cold bottle of cider, window open for crisp cold air, my kindle and a battery operated lamp for soft light....bliss!

Messyhair321 · 11/01/2024 21:41

I didn't think many people have baths anymore let alone wine while they're having one

Kwam31 · 11/01/2024 21:42

@Decafflatteplease
Bliss 🥰
Now and then my DP will run me a bath for coming home and have a cold cider or wine on the side and a podcast or spotify ready to go, great way to relax.

Chelsea26 · 11/01/2024 21:42

Thanks to this thread I am now in the bath and it’s lovely! No wine, although I do occasionally, but a pint of orange and mango squash with lots of ice, my kindle, Spotify, lights down low and the window open - perfection!

I also have a thing that goes over the overflow so the bath stays full to brim and I can get my shoulders and knees under at the same time…
