new Quality Street wrappers moan

I know this is a truly fatuous thing to mither about, but I am grumpy about the new Quality Streets eco wrappers.
Generally I am all in favour of reducing single use plastic, but the old wrappers were so Christmassy. They SMELT of pure Christmas, and it made my annual QS audit a joy.
Now I can't do my audit because the wrappers are ALL WRONG.

AND the crispy orange and green triangle are no more!!

AIBU? (I'm not)

OP I know what you mean about the smell.

Bought some last week and yeah not only are the wrappers shite but the "tubs" get smaller by the year. Now 600 grams. They're going to have to advertise them as pots of Quality Street at this rate.

Yawn. People’s moans on here make me realise how boring a lot of people’s lives are

But not as boring as yours apparently.

From where do you summon the strength to carry on? Life must be a series of ongoing challenges and disappointments.

It's the classic question, yes?

Which is more boring: complaining about chocolate wrappers or complaining about complaining about chocolate wrappers?

They're certainly a bit drab looking.

They look like WWII issue chocs.

LarkLane · 17/12/2023 20:17

This year we are bereft of the joy of home made gold and silver goblets, wacky cardboard houses with multi coloured windows, optical distortions and funny home made spectacles.

Stuck with a plastic tub and dull wrappers. All that remains is the annual visit to the dentist to replace a filling lost to an over ambitous chew of the penny round toffee.

Glum.

We've got a box of m&s big mix, shiny wrappers and a coffee cream! Not opened them yet though so they might be awful, I'm hoping not...
I don't mind the cardboard carton (surely better than a plastic tub) , I've got grandma style cut glass bowls to make them even twinklier

I thought I'd been given a knock off box when I first opened them! Total disappointment

They're ok - I can't eat the toffees though due to the aforementioned danger of having to go to the dentist for a replacement filling.

Ditto OP 🥹

I buy the big proper tins of QS from Ocado! Don’t mind the wrappers, I’m thrilled they can be recycled

Take your empty tub to the pub to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support:

They do a bar of the crispy orange ones ... came across it last week, tastes exactly the same but unfortunately is the equivalent of 10 individual chocolates, and I ate it all in an afternoon. For that reason I will not be buying a tin or bar again.

@Tiredmummy201

thank you!! - I think!?!

where did you buy this awesomeness?? Saves unwrapping 10 little ones😂😂, (if you could even find that many!!)

DriveMeCrazy1974 · 18/12/2023 13:14

This is as depressing as when Rowntree's made Fruit Gums vegan friendly and completely ruined the texture of the sweets. I'm not vegan, why should I have to have inferior product just to please a minority of people?
Now, we've got Quality Street that don't look appealing. I feel all of these changes are going to bite the sweet manufacturers on the arse soon enough. I haven't opened our tub yet, but, I already think I'll be switching to better chocolates next Christmas. Sad really because, when I was a kid, opening the tin of Quality Streets was a massive deal (OK, this is over 40-odd years ago!). Just that smell as soon as you opened the tin was enough to know that Christmas was here! Can't believe they've changed the packaging for my favourite toffee stick and toffee penny too - I loved the foil underneath the plastic wrap. I know I'm being ridiculous, but is nothing sacred anymore?
Take me back to 1980-something soon please!

These are really nice. They’re over sweet but so much nicer than what Roses and Quality Street have become.
