new Quality Street wrappers moan

I know this is a truly fatuous thing to mither about, but I am grumpy about the new Quality Streets eco wrappers.
Generally I am all in favour of reducing single use plastic, but the old wrappers were so Christmassy. They SMELT of pure Christmas, and it made my annual QS audit a joy.
Now I can't do my audit because the wrappers are ALL WRONG.

AND the crispy orange and green triangle are no more!!

AIBU? (I'm not)

They are a bit sadder for sure. We have green triangles in our box though

Foxesandsquirrels · 16/12/2023 16:27

They're very depressing I agree and there's barely any in the box now. The only old school one we have is the green triangle.

vodkaredbullgirl · 16/12/2023 16:28

It's not right lol. Although I did have some orange crispy ones in our tub.

geckofrog · 16/12/2023 16:28

Green triangle is still there

Starlightstarbright2 · 16/12/2023 16:29

I stopped buying them as there are so few chocolates in them now

starrylights · 16/12/2023 16:30

I opened a pack today and totally agree, they look a bit sad.

YachtMistress · 16/12/2023 16:30

Stop It
Less plastic is good
You will soon get used to them

Notmetoo · 16/12/2023 16:30

I miss the old huge tins that seemed to last forever.

LivingInaBuildingSite · 16/12/2023 16:31

Totally agree, you are not BU.

Plus the old ones crinkled nicely and made great cat toys over Christmas - even if we were finding them under sofas for months later. Cat is sad 😾😂

Greenpolkadot · 16/12/2023 16:31

Those wrappers were like jewels in a dish..all shiney and Christmassy
And they smelled luscious..
It's a sad day

I think the key is to eat them all really fast OP so you don't have to look at the wrappers for long.

TheFlis · 16/12/2023 16:32

We had a tub in the office yesterday and just about every person who looked at them was so disappointed at the new wrappers.

Iwantmyoldnameback · 16/12/2023 16:32

You mean you can't unwrap them and look through the wrappers anymore.

Me too ..now it's plastic tubs and cacky wrappers

inappropriateportioncontrol · 16/12/2023 16:33

can someone post a pic of the new wrappers?

Hatty65 · 16/12/2023 16:35

I've just opened a pack and DS (18) was extremely vocal in his disappointment at how 'un-Christmassy' the wrappers were, which is unlike him as he's usually too busy being 'gangsta' to care.

He also said 'It's such a load of bollocks about 'being green' when they shove them in a great plastic tub!' which I agree with.

Thank you @vodkaredbullgirl .I totally see the problem.
Can you really not have climate friendly wrapping that is less ugly?

Lilacanemone · 16/12/2023 16:41

Yeah, I’m not impressed with the new wrappers, but I’m sure both the green triangle and crispy orange were still there last week.

No

Clingfilm · 16/12/2023 16:44

Agreed, they look all look like cheap toffees now. However I had crispy orange and green triangles in my most recent tubs (plural), both still in foil.

vodkaredbullgirl · 16/12/2023 16:46

Out of the same tub

OhmygodDont · 16/12/2023 16:54

I don’t even bother buying them anymore now. Crappy plastic tub that’s got barely anything in and now not even the proper wrappers.

Myridiculousstomach · 16/12/2023 17:15

I agree. I know I’m supposed to be all right on about them being more eco friendly and I genuinely am about most changes like this, but I just cannot feel happy about this one. All the twinkly Christmassy joy has gone from them. It’s bad enough that they don’t taste as nice as they did 20 years ago (and don’t get me started on Roses which are actually inedible these days and have been for years), but I miss those shiny wrappers so much.
