The Marks & Spencer’s 12 days of Christmas thing is crap this year

Last year they gave out gin and things this year I got a free Christmas tree bubble and then just loads of money off crap that I don’t want

I’m quite chuffed with the room spray - I’d definitely buy it. Value £8. I also took advantage of the discounts on PJs and chocolate biscuits as I was going to buy them anyway. Lucky that nearest store about 10 miles away is massive so had it all in.

So far I have had a free pack of Caterpillar chocolate and bean things worth a fiver and a 30ml bottle of perfume worth £6.

Interested why people feel entitled to a whole load of freebies.

Because most other retail outlets have a loyalty card that gives you points/money over time that equates to about 10-20% off throughout all purchases.

M&S has sporadic vouchers, most of which don’t get used. But the payoff is a few offers are good maybe 1-3 times a year you get 20% off and the Xmas calendar encourages you to shop in store.

If it is rubbish there are plenty of other places to go with better offers!!

I spend about the same and my only free item has been a decoration. Which I don't really like but I got anyway! I'm hoping for something great on the last day!!

I got a free bauble but the store in my city doesn't sell tree decorations! The next available store is too far away for someone who doesn't drive, can't leave until after I've dropped the kids at school and need to be back for pick up.

M&S have my address, they know which is my local store, my free gift could have been something I can actually claim 😡

I wonder if new people signing up are getting rubbish and more loyal customers are getting better things. I've just got money off vouchers although a couple might come in handy. Oh and a bag of percy pigs I can't eat. Would have been quite chuffed with an ornament. I'm holding out hope this means we'll get something amazing soon

I've been with them years. All I had was a free bauble and the rest has been money off vouchers I can't use because I've already bought the things the vouchers are for!

But nobody is forcing you to shop at M&S, or have a Sparks card. As the adverts say, other retailers are available. M&S doesn't have to be the same as other shops if they don't want to, what other shops do with their loyalty schemes is totally irrelevant.

Free perfume here but the lady at the till insisted it had to be a certain one because it's shown in the picture despite the terms and conditions saying any one so I didn't get to choose and it's awful. Also used the money off pjs, slippers and wrapping paper which I'd have been buying anyway so saved a bit of cash. Shop was a bit manic when I was in so not sure I'll rush back to use my other vouchers.

If they aren’t competitive then they will lose customers.

Customers are expecting more due to the competitive retail environment.

I got a free tin of Percy Pig chocolate coins (if you can imagine such a thing) today. Other than that, just x% off vouchers, including one for plants & flowers which I have never bought from M&S in my life.

Nah, I’ve been a loyal customer for decades, had an M&S credit card for years and years and a Sparks since they were launched. I literally spend 1000s there annually.

i got the hand cream and money off vouchers since. I won’t use them as M&S collection wine, Christmas jumpers and Christmas flowers are not stuff I buy. M&S know that I’m sure.
