whenever there is something online about this woman… the haters come out in force. today someone calling her “a Katie price that can keep a husband”

what is the problem? She seems like a fairly inoffensive woman who has made a success out of her life (and that was her own success: she had it before she met David)

I don't get it either, I think she's genuinely funny and nice. Misogyny and internalised misogyny runs deep in society so probably would go some way to explain it.

StephanieSuperpowers · 06/10/2023 11:27

I don't know much about her, but I can't say I'm aware of anything especially awful she's done.

Peachonthebeach · 06/10/2023 11:27

It’s odd . On another thread someone said she was famous because of her husband 🤣

Willyoujustbequiet · 06/10/2023 11:28

Perhaps because some people resent success that they believe isn't warranted.

ASCCM · 06/10/2023 11:29

Anything like this is delivered by jealousy.

At the end of the day, she achieved fame and fortune, married a handsome husband and has a lovely family and life.

Some People can’t stand it when others do well.

wildwestpioneer · 06/10/2023 11:29

I find it really odd too. Whenever I've seen her being interviewed she's always come across as being funny, intelligent and down to earth.
I've never heard anything about her cheating on her dh and seems to adore and support her dc.

I can only presume because she keeps herself to herself privacy and has become successful in her own right - the haters are as a result of disliking people who appear to do well, especially women

Sleeplessinseattle234 · 06/10/2023 11:30

Successful, knowing her own mind and not falling into the normal wag frame. I also think she keeps a lot fairly private and people don’t like that. So they make up their own shit.

Anyotherdude · 06/10/2023 11:30

Many people have the inclination to lazily hate those that are beautiful, successful and seem to have their sh1t in order, though!
I’ve liked her and DB since they took it upon themselves to turn up, unannounced, on Christmas Day to give presents to the children at GOSH before they got married.
All the hatred is just jealousy, IMO!

Lemonyfuckit · 06/10/2023 11:32

Yeah I don't get it either. She's essentially had two careers, both of which she's been very successful at. Obviously I don't know her in person but from what you see of her on TV, online etc she comes across as nice, and also pretty funny.

Branster · 06/10/2023 11:33

Jealousy?
I can't say I'm a fan or obsessed in any way (of her or any other celebrities in general).
I like how her style has matured in a very good way, and her fashion line has some really nice, wearable pieces. I'm not one bit fussed about the fact that she is not necessarily designing herself from scratch and don't care if it is not a successful business in terms of profit. I like the nice pieces.
She is incredibly good at keeping her mouth shut, hiring the right people for PR, production etc and following advice from these professionals to the letter.
Not sure about the advert with her in the car for the perfume inspired by Paris - it doesn't exactly convey Paris or luxury to me, but some sort of amateur dress up video chat service. I suppose because the style of the advert would suit a different look, sexy is not VB's vibe which is not a bad thing.

Americano75 · 06/10/2023 11:34

Can only assume it's jealousy, she's always seemed like a lovely woman to me.

margotrose · 06/10/2023 11:36

Willyoujustbequiet · 06/10/2023 11:28

How isn't her success warranted?

megletthesecond · 06/10/2023 11:37

Yanbu. She always comes across as quite funny in interviews. Doesn't take herself too seriously.

mrlistersgelfbride · 06/10/2023 11:38

She doesn't look like the warmest person at a glance but when you see her in interviews she is hilarious, self depreciating and down to earth.
I've always really liked her.
She's had intense media scrutiny for 25 years. It can't be easy, she's handled it all extremely well.

wasaloner · 06/10/2023 11:39

I Also think it's rooted in jealousy. She rose to fame in spice girls and was considered the 'filler' member, ie. Not particularly talented. So I guess lots of people resented her success because of the 'it should've been me' view. Then add in a hunky (to many) husband, more money you can shake a stick at and her RBF in the 1000s of paparazzi photos that were being taken each day (who can blame her for never smiling) and the paps purposely choosing the most miserable ones. Added fuel to the "she's so moody/ungrateful/a bitch" fire.

I agree she smart, funny and actually seems like she'd be great company

Cloudyrain11 · 06/10/2023 11:40

She does get some hate and its ridiculous, she seems lovely

Albioncreed · 06/10/2023 11:41

She does look like she’d be a decent person in real life: a colleague once worked with her, and said she was lovely and polite: he used to bring her lunch to her every day.

she was successful because she was in a successful girl group. He success was warranted in the same way as the success of most pop stars is.

That’s hilarious. So much for girl power

Jealousy

She is quite an impressive woman, she was a success in her own right, got married and had a family. She was then seen by some a typical "WAG" with the fashion that goes with it, but she managed to reinvent herself as a famous and serious designer. Even Kate Middleton wears "Victoria Beckham".

She's always pleasant and seems very funny, an easy target I guess.
Her make-up brand is too pricey, but it's actually really good too!

MrsDanversChickenSandwich · 06/10/2023 11:44

I think it's because she often comes across as being quite self-conscious, always aware of the cameras and her best angles. Not fully at ease. This can come across as haughtiness.

sunshineandshowers40 · 06/10/2023 11:44

Its bizarre. I really don't understand the hate for this woman I assume it's jealousy.

thebellagio · 06/10/2023 11:45

Is it because she has "resting bitch face" so she always looks a bit moody?

Personally I adore her. I always have.

I think to get to the top of two very different careers takes skill. She knows how to get the right people in her team working for her. She comes across as a "big picture person" so she might not do the designing/sewing but she knows what look shes trying to achieve. It's no different to any other CEO who hires the right people to do the jobs that need to be done.

She's always come across as polite, well-spoken, never speaks ill of people or gets in feuds or social media spats. She's spent her time with her children who all clearly have a good relationship with her. Whenever she's interviewed she's really funny and deprecating. She also does a lot of work for charity and a lot of the time, I think it's actually under the radar. In fact, I think it would be utterly hilarious if VB received a Damehood and DB didn't get a Knighthood....

Quite frankly, of all the celebs out there, if my daughter wanted to emulate VB, i'd be over the moon!

Sehenswürdigkeiten · 06/10/2023 11:45

I don't actively hate the woman, but I don't admire her either.

OhmygodDont · 06/10/2023 11:46

Hated by those who think she’s just another lazy wag forget she was in a girl band first.

I mean I don’t like her or hate her because she doesn’t seem to do anything to warrant much thought most of the time. Can’t recall her ever being a bitch to anyone but also can’t say I recall her being one of those celebs doing make a wish and such stuff. So basically totally inoffensive.

404usernotfound · 06/10/2023 11:47

I think from the Spice Girls she was marketed as “the stuck up one” (posh spice) and that made people think she was cold and therefore dislike her. I think it just stuck!
