People Using my drive

It's our village fete today, never go because we work Saturday's, I started work first left in my car, DH about 30 mins later in his, leaving one on the drive, got home first to find 3 cars on my drive, one of them I know belongs to a friend, other two do not recognise.

Rang friend to ask if she knew who the others belonged to (as a bit annoyed she had not even asked if she could use my drive for her's ) to be told yes they belong to school mum friends of hers and she knew we would be at work so did not see a problem telling them to park there.

Pointed out I only just managed to get on my own drive and DH will be home shortly and will need to park on the drive as the whole village is rammed with cars, to be told they will be gone by 6pm as just about to have food and a drink, asked for at least one to be moved to park on our own drive, to be told I am unreasonable and ruining it for them.

Very tempted to block one in and refuse to move until the morning because I am shattered, had a stupuidly busy day and just want to chill in my PJ's with food and a glass off wine

I would say that you have taken tomorrow off work to watch the football, so come back on Monday

Avocadot0ast · 19/08/2023 18:14

It’s the cheek of refusing to come back and move them that’s really got me! If I was one of the other cars I’d be straight over apologising for causing an inconvenience and trusting your friend when she said I could park there. Not saying I’ll be back after 6pm! So entitled and arrogant.

AlwaysFoldingWashing · 19/08/2023 18:14

Good on you, OP. Stay strong and don't back down

MolkosTeenageAngst · 19/08/2023 18:15

This is so rude of your friend; is she the one you’ve blocked in? If not and it’s her friends I potentially feel a bit sorry for them as I bet your friend said it was fine and they didn’t even consider that she hadn’t actually asked you. That said I suppose it serves her right if they’re then annoyed with her, what a CF.

FlowerTink · 19/08/2023 18:15

Also here cheering you on!

Delia123 · 19/08/2023 18:15

It's 6:15. Where are they?

Please keep them blocked in! I love threads like this but I'm always so disappointed when the OP ends up backing down. Does anyone remember that lovely 3 or 4 part thread with the cheeky people who parked on her drive/entry, she stayed strong for days and she had her brother or something answer the door for her? That was great.

The one where the car was a Ford Ranger, and he was parked on an access track used by the Forestry Commission, and the OP fucked off for a long lunch at a carvery thinking the Ranger owner would come back and find himself blocked in?

Nah, don't remember it at all. 😉

Try again…. Working fine for me

extrasushiplease · 19/08/2023 18:16

Good idea to cut off the "friend:" A true friend sincerely cares and respects your wishes and how you feel and wouldn't put you out just to make things easier on themselves. CFers use the guise of "friendship" as a free-for-all to use people until they get kicked to the kerb.

PigginTeaBreak · 19/08/2023 18:16

Don't back down! Enjoy your evening 🍹

FlibbertyGibbitt · 19/08/2023 18:16

As long as the CF’s don’t turn up ringing your doorbell when you’ve gone to bed OP !!!

DobbyTheHouseElk · 19/08/2023 18:16

No way that I would move my car. That’s really taking the piss. She’s no friend.

KimberleyClark · 19/08/2023 18:16

What a bloody nerve. Your friend has no right to give her friends permission to park on your drive.

Shittyflute · 19/08/2023 18:17

I am totally with you on this OP. What the hell is wrong with some people? If your friend falls out with you over it, I don't think it's much of a loss.

@LakieLady it was SO good! I vaguely remember the cheeky sod sent his girlfriend to knock on as well, I think.
