People Using my drive

It's our village fete today, never go because we work Saturday's, I started work first left in my car, DH about 30 mins later in his, leaving one on the drive, got home first to find 3 cars on my drive, one of them I know belongs to a friend, other two do not recognise.

Rang friend to ask if she knew who the others belonged to (as a bit annoyed she had not even asked if she could use my drive for her's ) to be told yes they belong to school mum friends of hers and she knew we would be at work so did not see a problem telling them to park there.

Pointed out I only just managed to get on my own drive and DH will be home shortly and will need to park on the drive as the whole village is rammed with cars, to be told they will be gone by 6pm as just about to have food and a drink, asked for at least one to be moved to park on our own drive, to be told I am unreasonable and ruining it for them.

Very tempted to block one in and refuse to move until the morning because I am shattered, had a stupuidly busy day and just want to chill in my PJ's with food and a glass off wine

@quicklybeendrivenmad enjoy your 🍷🥂🍻🍺🍸🍹🥃 - whatever your choice! I hope they have the decency to be embarrassed and apologise.

Soapyspuds · 19/08/2023 17:26

block them in and go out for a long LONG walk

DaggerIsle · 19/08/2023 17:27

Wow how entitled. I can understand trying their luck but when you told them it was an inconvenience, they're how acting as if you're the unreasonable one?
Drink up, lock your door and block them. They can come back tomorrow to get their cars.

quicklybeendrivenmad · 19/08/2023 17:27

Dog would love a long walk but tbf village is rammed and I am shattered x

I can never understand people who take the piss like this and then have the audacity to try and make you feel like you're the one being unreasonable. Clearly they are super chilled about being inconveniencing people so shouldn't have any problem being finding themselves blocked in when they get back. Enjoy your dinner. And the way she has treated your friend would have me fuming too.

itsgettingweird · 19/08/2023 17:29

When they come back refuse to answer door and send a text "sorry. Can't move the car as I'm having food and drink and you're ruining it for me. Come back tomorrow 🍺"

do not dare move your car. If they are blocked in that is their fault for being cf! They will never learn if you give in. Carry on with your evening and wine.

Moveoverdarlin · 19/08/2023 17:30

Definitely block them in and leave a big sign taped to your door saying ‘If you are the cheeky fuckers who are parked on my drive and now expecting me to move MY car you at least need to give me a tenner each, a decent bottle of wine or chocolate! The absolute audacity. I did not give permission for my ‘friend’ to park here.

Titchyfeep · 19/08/2023 17:30

Please post an update once they return!

ButtonMoonLoon · 19/08/2023 17:31

How rude and selfish of your ‘friend’!
I feel slightly more charitable towards the other two people who probably just took her word for it that she had permission to use your drive.

Feverly · 19/08/2023 17:32

When she starts messaging you tell her ‘you’re ruining my evening’ then mute her notifications.

Yes, please text them this 😆

Poppyhopscotch · 19/08/2023 17:34

Wow!! I would never do this but you'd think on the back of your call they'd be straight there to move their cars. Id be really pissed off.

Vgbeat · 19/08/2023 17:35

Nope don't answer the door and if she rings just say sorry we are eating and don't want it spoiled.

Shinyandnew1 · 19/08/2023 17:35

She is not a friend. What a piss taker!

I can’t believe anyone would text am unreasonable and ruining it for them.

I would have told her clearly how pissed off I was.

TakeMeToTheCloudsAbove · 19/08/2023 17:36

Don’t block them in, just insist they move. They are taking the piss but surely blocking will make the situation worse. Also why have they driven if it’s a village fete? Could they not have walked?

Do it! Please do it! On another note OP, this woman isn't your friend. She's taking the piss. Drop her like a hot shit!

quicklybeendrivenmad · 19/08/2023 17:39

cos they do not live in the vilage so have to drive

Autieangel · 19/08/2023 17:39

I would message'friend' and say they have 20 min to move their cars or be blocked in until morning

topnoddy · 19/08/2023 17:39

Park so you block them all in and don't reply to any form of contact .

From past experience, blocking people in who've parked on your drive is really funny and hammers the message home. It doesn't happen again with the same people.

JanieEyre · 19/08/2023 17:44

Tell them they were ruining it for you.

stiltonbriecheddar · 19/08/2023 17:44

Go out in your DHs car and leave yours blocking them in. Turn off your phone and make them wait.

I would be furious!
