People Using my drive

It's our village fete today, never go because we work Saturday's, I started work first left in my car, DH about 30 mins later in his, leaving one on the drive, got home first to find 3 cars on my drive, one of them I know belongs to a friend, other two do not recognise.

Rang friend to ask if she knew who the others belonged to (as a bit annoyed she had not even asked if she could use my drive for her's ) to be told yes they belong to school mum friends of hers and she knew we would be at work so did not see a problem telling them to park there.

Pointed out I only just managed to get on my own drive and DH will be home shortly and will need to park on the drive as the whole village is rammed with cars, to be told they will be gone by 6pm as just about to have food and a drink, asked for at least one to be moved to park on our own drive, to be told I am unreasonable and ruining it for them.

Very tempted to block one in and refuse to move until the morning because I am shattered, had a stupuidly busy day and just want to chill in my PJ's with food and a glass off wine

Block in 100%. At least until tomorrow. Actually as schools are on holiday unless you are in Scotland, perhaps until about Monday.

Howyiz · 19/08/2023 16:37

Tell your CF friend and her friends to get their arses back and move their cars.
You did not give them permission to use your drive and why should you be inconvenienced for them?

Stratocumulus · 19/08/2023 16:38

They are taking the P.
It would make my blood boil.
Im a vengeful sort! I’d block the CF’s in.

Thatwouldbeme · 19/08/2023 16:38

Yes, park your car, relax have a long bath, glass of wine, play music so you can't here the door and just ignore until tomorrow. Your friend has no right to do what she has so it's all on her really

cinnamonfrenchtoast · 19/08/2023 16:38

Your "friend" is a cheeky cow.

Startrekkeruniverse · 19/08/2023 16:39

I would say move the car now or I’ll block it in. They can’t say they weren’t warned then.

Inkpotlover · 19/08/2023 16:41

Cheeky mares saying you are spoiling their fun. I would block in too. Enjoy the wine!

quicklybeendrivenmad · 19/08/2023 16:43

We were away last year so she asked and I said no problem but never asked this year and last year was just her car as CCTV pinged, but CCTV not working this year as have builders in so offline so had no idea until I got home DH is fuming he has managed to block two in by doing what seems like a 50 point turn

How bloody rude. I wouldn't even park my own car on a friends drive without asking, let alone invite others to do so.

id block them in so DH could get on the drive and do they have to knock to move their cars.

i wouldn't block them in over night, but I'd be quite firm in saying 'please don't do it again. We work long hours and different times and don't appreciate this hassle when we get home.

woodhill · 19/08/2023 16:44

Very rude of your friend and then her friends

You ask first surely

Banditqueen12 · 19/08/2023 16:46

I wouldn't be tempted. I would just do it. Not back at work until Monday? Shame that. You'll move your car then.

PJ04JCW · 19/08/2023 16:46

Total CFery. Can we have a diagram though please? And can you go out (on foot) for tea and a few drinks?

Malbecfan · 19/08/2023 16:47

Put up a small sign saying "Parking for Fete: £50". When they knock asking to be let out, point to the sign and ask for the £50.

quicklybeendrivenmad · 19/08/2023 16:47

Am only haing a couple of glasses of wine with food but the way the cars are parked theirs and all the ones at the fete would mean I have to reverse out blind and then go round green to come back in not going to do that in my PJ's or risk my car

quicklybeendrivenmad · 19/08/2023 16:49

@PJ04JCW we could go out but been at work so just want to eat at home will try and do a diagram

You say your CCTV is offline?

Sounds to me like your doorbell is also broken and you can't hear people knocking on the door and you've left your phone in another room!

Oops, they'll just have to wait until morning to collect their cars.....

xyz111 · 19/08/2023 16:50

That is very cheeky. I wouldn't park on my best friends drive without a little text at least. How rude. How close is this friend?

NillyNoMates · 19/08/2023 16:55

That’s terrible and so cheeky. Block them all in. I also like the idea of the parking charge sign.

Poppyblush · 19/08/2023 16:56

Block them in!

Olika · 19/08/2023 16:57

Block them. And let them wait until morning. Morons.

TetrapanaxRex · 19/08/2023 16:58

Block and do not move car until tomorrow.

That disgusting of them to park there without asking.

The friend would no longer be a friend.

Flipflipmania · 19/08/2023 16:58

* to be told I am unreasonable and ruining it for them.*

unfathomable to me that this is how grown assed adults communicate with each other.

and another classic mumsnet “friendship” ie can’t stand each other

Ladyofthelake53 · 19/08/2023 16:59

Absolute piss takers id go mad..

LimeCheesecake · 19/08/2023 17:00

Good you’ve blocked them in. I’m sure they’ll not think they are in the wrong. (If I was one of the friends, I’d be mortified to realise you didn’t give permission to use your drive and would be hurrying back)

BMW6 · 19/08/2023 17:00

What! Your "friend" is an entitled fucker.

I'd tell her she has 15 mins to get the cars off my drive or they'll all be blocked in until Monday.

She is beyond unreasonable.
